People love Dogging Suzuki. I can never figure out why...they are reliable and they don't overcharge for the performance they offer...I look at it like this car makers don't offer new redesigns every three years nobody gripes but for some reason motorcyclists expect the newest thing every year. (My philosophy is keep it simple if it ain't broke don't fix it)

Thinking of getting rid of my kawa and switching it for a New Suzuki.. For a every day commuter, tourer through to a weekend play machine, this is as close as you get to the perfect bike for the money. We are spoiled for choice, but do you really need any more power, handling and braking?? The ergonomics are near perfect. how many negative reviews do you read about Suzuki's in general? Suzuki inline 4's are smooth, bullet proof works of art. Yes, they may not have the latest electronics but as like my L6 GSXR 750, it is a real riders bike, All the inputs come from you and that makes you a better rider. I also own a DRZ400E and that design has not changed for 20 years and they still sell like hot cakes for a reason.

Good honest test ,I have owned one for nearly 4 years .The good points are the engine clutch gearbox the seat general riding position reliably (58000kms not one problem) and the sound. The GSX-S will stay with a BMW S1000R in a drag race. The throttle response is easily improved by removing the air box restrictor, a arko slip on and making sure that theTPS unit is adjusted correctly . The bad points are the suspension which is crap,it's hard to work on and the brake pads need an upgrade ( easily done). The GSX-S is great on fuel never uses oil between changes.Overall the GSX-S is top value for the money ; but now I want 1290 Superduke

Great video again chops. I must say that K5 engine is a peach and the exhaust note from the standard can is not bad either. I've had one of these machines now for about 2 year's and one thing that doesn't really get mentioned is the fuel range and economy.....this bike can easily get high 40's to low 50 mpg quite easily even if you are a bit throttle happy. I've even gone from Hampshire to Devon/Cornwall border on one tank of fuel. 👌😁

I used to own a B-King a nd never needed the valve clearances shimmed. I read on a forum that one owner, who serviced his own bike, never had to do a shim in 80,000 miles. My mechanic in Portimao told me that the big Suzuki inline fours were like that. That is something I like. I wouldn't mind a big inline four again and find the CB1000R attractive to look at. Very much so, but this bike has more mid-range, looks okay and has that engine. Shame they're too pricey in Thailand, where I spend most of my year now.

Brilliant bike, great review.Thought you were a little harsh on the suspension though. A big lad like you needs more rear preload even without luggage or a pillion and an overall addition of more damping front and back. A 9st rider will get a completely different ride with stock suspension settings. He’ll have a shorter trail, more turn in and have a less wallowing ride than you. Take a screwdriver and a C spinner (if needed) on your test rides, you are not the average rider weight.

      No way! My first big bike was a B6, 2nd was a B12, now have a 600 Fazer and a GSXS1000F .
The GSXS to me is like a modern B12 on steroids. I've only had it 4 days, and it spun the rear tyre on me 1st ride, but I love it and with more practice on it and a suspension set up, it is going to be one hell of a machine.
      Have fun, ride safe

Back towards the beginning of the year I bought a 69 plate faired version for £7995 with 68 miles on the clock and it's been superb. On the throttle issue, I sent my ECU to Junction 33 Developments for flashing and it absolutely transforms the bike which is otherwise standard. Fuelling is perfect now and there's more torque. Rear shock needs replacing as the compression is fixed way too hard. Great bike indeed 👍

I had the 2020, owned it for 3 months. It’s not a bad bike. Definitely has power, suspension was rough, tank slap was pretty bad as well, after market parts market in the United States is lacking and the vibrations were pretty rough as well. I payed 11k otd for the bike. Happy that I traded in for an aprili. I’ll say this I payed 14.5 otd for my tuono and it’s a night and day difference.

I too am a big Suzuki fan but I think they have a gap in their range?
Something to line up against the Tracer 900, F900XR etc
A new GSX up on its toes would be it.
    I don't think it's the V Strom 1050
But these GSXSXXSSXX's are a huge bargain.
    Nice.

Try it! Complete rocketship. Traction control #1 has the front wheel levitating twice in first gear, 3 times in 2nd, and you're at 100mph before getting to third gear.
I've yet to turn off traction control. Don't really see the point to be honest.

Empty-10? Brilliant bike as long as you have plenty of fuel stops, I once managed under 70 miles from fill-up to reserve warning. But that was repeated mountain runs on the IOM chasing a SuperDuke R.
I had the Leo Vince 3/4 exhaust and a re-map, I miss that sound. All other IL4's sound boring in comparison.

    I have a Tuono V4 2020. If i compare to this bike.
Tuono is expensive, €18990 but this is what it has:
    - 175 hp
    - 112 Nm
    - Front brake: Brembo M50
    - Rear brake: Brembo...
    - Ride by wire throttle
    - electronics suspension: front & rear
    - electronics steering damper
    - TFT dash
    - Quickshifter & autoblipper
    - riding modes
    - cruise control
    - lots of electronics
    - my opinion: better look and better sound

I’d prefer the old CB1000R over this one. Those could be had for $6000. That single sided swingarm. And it’s based on the SC57 2007 CBR1000RR, so pretty damn reliable. The lack of low end pickup is easily fixed with a 520 chain upgrade with -1 and +2 sprockets.

I am intriged by this bike as you say it is a k5, a lot of people regard that as the best superbike ever. Revzilla put a k5 against a v4 on track with just suspension mods and it was over a second faster. So i wonder if with this base could you make a brand new k5?

This bike really is a great example of good value. Do some digging on eBay for a power commander 3 which is cheap and then run a dyno jet quick shifter through it (again find one on eBay) then stick a yoshimura end can on it and give it to someone to dial it in on a dyno. Add all that together plus the price of the bike and you have something really competitive at a great price 👍👍

I own a 2021 superduke and bought a new gsxs in June for 8.5 k for a bit of touring or the odd track day. Gotta maxton shock on it ,decent tyres and lithium battery . It's a weapon and I've been riding more than the KTM. My friends got a panigale 1299 final edition and my 8.5k gsxs dicks his 34k plankigale . Cheap thrills indeed

The street version of these Suzukis are phenominal. Even my GSX650F (bandit with fairings) has way more down low power than my old CBR600, Kawi 636 and the R6. Top end no chance, but mid range in town... buckle up! Power where you need it. Who cares about top end circuit crap when you'll never even be on one. Grunt and smooth power.
As far as the snatchy issue goes on the Katana line, it can be tuned out 100%. Idk who is falling asleep at Suzuki, but on/off throttle in a corner can occasionally be sketchy. Easy eliminated after a tune. Over-all, phenomenal though.

I’d love to see a straight line run vs an MT10. Both are similar in power, slight edge to Suzuki stock, after modding and tuning the gap closes slightly with both 150whp easy on most any dyno . Have yet to see a video of these 2 bikes going WOT next to each other.
Edit- you got it backwards Chops. TEN=Rebound. COMP=Compression.

There is a recall for h2s regarding ecu issues. While i do not think it may affect you due to your being flashed but i wanted to let you know just in case. The recall issue is that there is a failure to upshift during high rpm and has caused a full transmission lock up. Kawasaki is supposed to be sending out notifications on the 16th but it doesnt say how they are to be delivered. Snail mail or email... its kinda aptly timed for me as i was gonna do a full service before winter sets in for a real freeze on my riding but even more so now i worry about it messing up on me without knowing if my h2 needs the reimage for the ecu... stay safe, ride safe and as always, stay chopsy.
