    As somebody who likes upright naked bikes, I think the Europeans have it wrong. Their idea of a naked bike is a full-on sports bike without the fairing and with handlebars instead of clip ons. I think if a buyer wants a full-on sports bike, that's probably what they are going to buy. I think the buyer who chooses a naked bike is not looking for the ultimate race-track weapon, so performance is less of a priority. I think that the Japanese have a much better handle on that, and of course that's why the GSX-S1000 doesn't use the current GSXR motor. If Suzuki thought the market wanted a GSXR 1000 sans fairing, and with handlebars instead of clip-ons, that's what they would be selling.

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 2 роки тому

      What many european bikes got right is that the handlebar is a bit more forward and lower, for a tall guy sitting dead upright you are being like a sail in the wind, worthless on highway. A small lean like 10-20 degrees is perfect, somewhere in between dead upright and full on tuck. The Triumph Speed triple and Bmw S1000R is a perfect example, enough lean to feel sporty and to be a bit more leaned into the wind but still comfortable. If I would like to sit upright like in grandpas chair I would not buy a sportbike.

      This might be a dig at a lot of motorcycle journalists, but a lot of them have completely lost scope of what the bikes realistically are used for.
      Take some of the publications located in Los Angeles:
      They take the bikes up in the mountains and ride in a spirited fashion on well maintained, smooth roads with a lot of fast flowing turns.
      Only to come to the conclusion that bike1, that’s basically a naked sport bike, is much better than bike2, which has taken much more of an allrounder approach.
      If my bike was bought basically to be a toy used only in almost perfect conditions I too would also much rather have bike1.
      And unfortunatly it has led to a lot spec sheet warriors who will always advocate for super high end components and basically everything else is hot garbage.
      Worst thing is that I’d wager that you could put them on a bike with decent KYB suspension, throw on some Öhlins badges (and tell them that it’s 10% lighter than it actually is) and they would never be able to tell any way.

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 2 роки тому +2

      @@MachoMadness69420 I agree, many people give the MT-10 bad rep for bad suspension, bad breakes, not enough power, to heavy. I think it is awesome. I love that it has not got the Öhlins, brembos and 200+ hp or else I would not be able to afford it. Rides like a dream for the price it has.

You'd think a liter I4 would be be a bulky cumbersome thing, but these are compact machines - seemingly all the more so because they don't have the busy "pile of stuff under the tank" styling of the yamaha, or the ultra aggressive look of the KTM - clean, dense, and very powerful.

    I've ridden the Z H2 and the GSX. I didn't miss any power on the Suzuki compared to the Kawasaki. I mean you don't ride top speed on these kind of bikes and the acceleration felt nearly identical.

    If the bike had more power than it has, it would ruin it and just become another uncontrollable without electronics, ego machine for 4 year olds. As it is, it has excellent power and very good torque that will make it a really good road bike. No a machine for posers with too much cash.

      I agree with you--- people without riding exp/skill have no idea how insane some of these bikes are. 150 HP in itself in a bike this light is a crazy amount of power-- it's literally a superbike from the 2000s power wise. This bike geared for road oriented torque, comfortable ergos and useful tech but not too much makes it a great riders bike. Real riders appreciate this bike.

    Only thing I'd hate about the Suzuki.....is those stacked headlights, that just ruins everything for me :D.

    So i took this out for a test ride the other day. Did you notice the jerky throttle or was this perhaps just my model? I was on a long straight and decided to open it up while riding at normal speed and it was a very noticeable time delay from my cruising speed to monster speed. which caused a jerk motion.
    Did you experience this? any idea why it does this?

    Nice review of a good bike but it's face [headlights] for me is just hideous. What a shame. The new Z900 se for me is probably what I would go for. Ohlins rear shock, matching upgraded fully adjustable front suspension , brembo brakes with braided hoses and a much nicer cleaner front end. Yes it's 25 horses down but an e.c.u flash and a decent exhaust system will claw back a fair chunk of that. Of course there is always the new updated Katana. Same motor, frame, electronics and quick shifter but in a [for me] a much better looking package. The only downside is the still way too small fuel tank at 12 ltr's. Come on Suzuki sought it.

    Take price into account and this is the best Super Naked there is. Also is for full sized humans. 150 hp is more that you will ever use outside a track, it is comfortable, decent mileage and if it were up to me I would bring back the analog dials. Oh BTW Euro 5 and emissions regulations for petrol can all go suck a lemon.

No mention of the speed triple a bike with more power than the tuono, more torque than any of the above mentioned save for the superduke and is simply better build quality than its european contemporaries, on par with the japanese, oh and lol the speed triple literally STARTED THE BLOODY CATAGORY!

  • @mathias6423
    @mathias6423 2 роки тому +1

    It costs 13856 Euro in Sweden total price. That is not cheap for a bike with an engine based on a 17 year old engine without IMU , cruise control or a decent tft screen. Not many years ago you could get a brand new Aprilia Tuono for the same price and that had IMU and cruise control and so on. The problem today is that bikes have become so extremely expensive that when a new +998cc sportbike comes out that does not cost 20000 Euro or more it is considered cheap. It is just insane to me and this will result in less people buying these bikes.
    The only midrange bike I could find that was more expensive than this Suzuki was MV Augusti Brutale RR but that bike was also more expensive than both the Superduke and the Tuono and I would much rather have those than the Suzuki :P Maybe you have some very expensive midrange bikes in South Africa.
