When David starts playing that slide guitar, magic happens. One of the most beautiful songs ever made IMO. The whole Pulse concert is a masterpiece, btw.
Yeah it is a masterpiece from start to finish. I was heavily pregnant and very poor when they were touring with this concert and I was so close to going but at the time I felt I couldn’t justify the cost with a baby on the way. Looking back, I should have just gone anyway. Someone would have lent me the money. Hindsight eh 🙄
I would put Mr. Steevie Ray Vaughn and Mr. Eric Clapton in contention. BB King? Albert King? Mississippi Fred MacDowell? Meaning no disrespect to you or Mr. Gilmour.
The reason I personally think David is the greatest guitarist of all time is how he can express feelings through his playing better then anyone I have ever heard play.
@@richardkafka5625 HaHaHa....... his playing is a lot more complicated than you might think. The simple notes are often easy..... most players can NOT find his feel and will never capture his tone. Still the easy but..... then there is killing the strings you do not want to hear and letting the others ring out. He plays with the articulate skills of a classical master..... not a fast fingered pretender with little MUSICAL skill or taste.
True story this. I suffered from depression a few years back. I was in a low place and I felt nothing for what felts like months, I felt dead inside. Driving home from work one evening during summer, the weather was lovely and this song was playing. I started to remember my childhood in the English countryside with the sound of grass being mowed and bees flying around, I then started to remember summertime smells and sounds from my childhood and burst into tears. I felt emotion for the first time in ages and the fog had gone. The song always takes me back to my childhood and now gives me that warm feeling that a good childhood can provide your whole life as long as you remember to feel it. I also saw this live at earls Court when these shows were recorded and it changed my life 😊
High Opes la migliore al mondo come testo è come musica da brividi solo chi ha grande sensibilità fa entrare nel suo cuore questa musica che è un forte elisir di guarigione.
One of the best pieces of music ever written. That slide guitar solo NEVER fails to give me goosebumps, and the acoustic ending is just supreme. 100/10 Would recommend to anyone who loves music as an artform.
There's a version of this, David Gilmour High Hopes live in Gdansk, where he's accompanied by full orchestra and he switches to that Spanish guitar at the end and continues on a few more heart wrenching minutes. Quite emotional. Highly recommend it!
Your reaction style is perfect, Sabina. I think you regard the performances as almost sacred and do not insult us with constant interruptions of the music. And I know that you give extra effort to go through the video and write your comments instead of speaking over a performance. That is a real commitment and I appreciate you very much.
I appreciate the fact that you do not interrupt the music just because you have an opinion. You put yourf views onscreen and allow us all to hear the music. Thank you.
Something most people don't realize watching this performance... unlike the reaction to Comfortably Numb when the crowd was going crazy, they are very quiet during High Hopes. The reason is .... High Hopes was a new song in '94, this was the first time anyone had heard it!!
I had heard it only once on vinyl a mere week before I saw them live on their 1994 Division Bell Tour in Edmonton, Alberta. It was great on vinyl but their live performances always bring out so much more from their music. Truly a masterpiece! Long live David Gilmour.
Yip. The album had only recently been released and this was the "Division Bell" tour, now better known as the"Pulse" gigs. As far as i am aware, Pulse or them filming this was never mentioned at the time. We on ly got tickets for Earls Court because they added extra dates due to temporary seating collapsing on the 1st or 2nd night. Superb gig
As a convicted Floydies fan who first saw them in 1968 . Last time I saw them live was 1973 in Earls Court with their first live performance of Dark side of the moon. It was an experience that has stayed with me since. I'm 76 now and love seeing you youngsters appreciating this music and realise we are not all fogies. Love you all😂
I was lucky enough to hear Pink Floyd once, on the Division Bell tour in 1994. They didn't come to my city, so my family and I drove 4 hours to Kansas City to Arrowhead Stadium. This was one of the songs they played, but naturally the high point was 'Comfortably Numb' live, and one of the high points of my life.
9:55 ....awe look at that face. She's feeling the emotion in that solo. My ex-wife and i saw this show in Cleveland May 1994 while she 8 1/2 months pregnant. Our youngest was born in June and to this day he claims that the reason he loves rock and roll and loves playing guitar is because he was also at the show. It was spectacular! What I love about these reaction channels is that basically I get to hear all this great music that I've loved for decades for the first time again vicariously through the reactor. Thank you!
Yes, Pink Floyd is the only rock band that you do not listen to or watch live because you cannot achieve that Pink Floyd ride. You put on your headphones lay back close your eyes put on the album and take that pain for a ride which cannot be achieved live
Pink Floyd gives you everything, great sound, an unforgettable staging, lyrics, music that lifts you up...particularly this version always leaves a tear in the eye...music for the soul.
Sometime in 1994, in Philadelphia, PA USA, the middle of October, I was privileged to see this performed live during the Division Bell concert. They played 5 shows that weekend, and I was there for 4 of them, and each one was incredible. I've spent the evening watching several of your vids, and this is the one that earned you a like, follow, and subscribe.
The Pulse concert (with Comfortably Numb prominent) was what got me hooked on Pink Floyd. I just happened to catch the whole concert on late-night TV, starting just after midnight, and I couldn't turn it off even though I had work the next day. By next morning I was a Pink Floyd fan.
Gilmore is a guitar god. And if you loved this, you must watch the Pulse Version of Comfortably Numb as well. The song is great, but the Pulse Live Performance with the light show and everything is still another level. Still, High Hopes is probably my favorite Pink Floyd song due to the deep lyrics, the mood it conveys - and probably due to the fact that I am also getting older slowly…
Hi, the way you felt , you explane prfect, because i felt the same...,they heal me since i have transplanting my heart....,i must say this music healing 100%
True masterpiece! I remember when I heard this song for the first time in the 90s. This song was an instant 10/10 first listen. I haven´t seen many reactions to "Take It Back" from the same album (Division Bell) but that song is also amazing.
I was fortunate to see them at the Rose Bowl in 1994 during the Division Bell tour; every single song a masterpiece. I loved seeing your facial expressions throughout the entire video. Like me, this song hypnotized you and left you floating even after it ended. Such is the magic of Pink Floyd!
I was at this concert, and it was just incredible. The bass sound was huge, the whole sound scape was huge, was like being blasted by a wall of perfect sound. You felt it. And hearing this for the first time was mind blowing. One of the most amazing experiences of my life.
a truly amazing song. the arrangement and construction of this song is so intricate and yet it speaks to you on a very basic and primal level. and what makes this song work so well is the emotions it brings out in the listener. there's nostalgia and tension and melancholy. it really digs deep to scratch at the soul. and it played so masterfully. just wonderful stuff.
Sabina, you are not the only one who feels this. Every time I hear this song, especially see this performed live it never fails to bring my eyes to water up. I feel the older you get the more this song effects you. Beautifully written, arranged and artfully visualized... your reaction explains it all, thank you.
I like how you're talking in the caption rather than Stop in the song for your comments which is cool too but I like this and I can tell you dedicated and I like that too
I will tell you young lady, I have watched a myriad of reactions to this song and yours by far is most incite-full and perfectly articulated. I have been listening to Pink Floyd for over 50 years and can tell you that, like an onion, there are so many layers to peel back on all their songs. You have that special incite to them and kudos to you for taking time delve in a tad. Do more.😉
Sabina, you're definitely not the only one! From day 1, when this song came out, I got goosebumps hearing it. Then introduced it to my mom, and she felt/reacted the same. It's got so much emotion, between the lyrics and the incredible music! My wife...yup, same. When my mom passed inn 2018, this song was part of her 'funeral' playlist, she loved it that much - actually several Pink Floyd songs were (Shine On You Crazy Diamond was another). So now, because of that emotion and association, I can't help but cry a little...along with the goosebumps. RIP mom...
I love the little tributes to Syd that they always have in their concerts. It's awesome that close to 30 years after he was kicked out of the band, they were still putting nods to him in their songs and in the concerts. And he always got his royalty checks from the band as well.
Hey! I think Syd was not KICKED OUT of the band. It´s just that the circumstances and his mental health issues brought him to be out cause there was no other option. As you said, he was out of the band but he was always there too.
Listening to any part of their Pulse performance, I can’t help not to wonder, how it must have been to stand there in the crowd. I am flooded with emotion just looking at the screen with earphones on my head. Just imagining to be really there at the moment and feel the beats on my chest, feel the energy of the ridiculous crowd around me makes me want to rip my chest open.. Undepictable power, this music has… ❤
Thanks for letting us be part of this. I just agree with what you say and wrote. Love this song and the whole PULSE concert. There is no one that can put his soul into his guitar playing as David can. We are blessed to be living at this time and hear and experience his playing.
I love the fact that you show what you are feeling and thinking in closed captions... it lets the song flow but you also provide what we are here for... a reaction. Cheers from Costa Rica!
Knowing a little about David Gilmour's personal life, the lyrics of some of his compositions such as "On the turning away" are much better understood and then you realize that it is not verbiage but that he wrote it with his heart. Among many other actions, In 2003 he sold his house in Little Venice and donated the proceeds of £3.6 million to the Crisis Foundation to help finance a housing project for the homeless. In 2019 he auctioned off 120 guitars, including the famous Black Strat and a selection of Fender Broadcasters, Esquires, Telecasters and Stratocasters for charity. Other charities Gilmour has supported include Oxfam, the European Union Association for Mental Health and Illness, Greenpeace, Amnesty International, The Lung Foundation, Nordoff-Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust and PETA. What else can be said about this man? He is a guitar god and an incredible human being. It is comforting that there are still people who care about the well-being of others. Sir David Gilmour you have my full respect and admiration forever!
Ever since the early days (with Syd Barrett) Pink Floyd's music has never ceased to amaze me, even as a child. Art, soul, music always pushing to new boundaries, poems about life and death, sounds that make one smile, tear, reflect. Thank you Sabina.
My favorite part of watching people reacting to High Hopes is when they cry :') it reminds me of the first time I listen Pink Floyd's songs like this one, Shine on you crazy diamond and Wish you were here. Real magic.
When I was about 15 or 16 I made friends with a guy at school who was a year ahead but he was right into pink Floyd & he played guitar. Many many days spent tripping balls listening to their music, flat out laying on the ground. I had some amazing times. He's a self sufficient muso now which is awesome. I never thought about the lyrics of this song until I got older
I worked on this tour in 1994. We were 600 technicians to build the satge. 55 trucks on the road. 4 stages already build and ready all over the world, then we would add all the equipments.
Wonderful reaction video! I don’t know what else to say other than you captured my thoughts on this song exactly. There’s so much depth, power, and emotion in this song.
Great reaction to this, and great to see your appreciation for Pink Floyd!! I was fortunate to see Pink Floyd on this Pulse tour in 1994 at The Alamodome in San Antonio with 47,000 fans. 18th row seats on the floor and it was an experience of a lifetime! Also had previously seen them in 1987 in Austin. Again, enjoyed your reaction!!!
The whole Pulse concert is a masterpiece. I think one of the greatest live show in the history if not the best! Listen all the songs, believe me, its worth it 😉
Great choice - such an amazing song! I've been a Floyd fan for over 50 years, Gilmore was a major influence through my guitar playing journey, saw them in concert 1977 - incredible experience - and couldn't get off work to attend the Pulse concert that this is from. "High Hopes" is right up there with "Comfortably Numb" for my fave PF song, and really hits home with its lyrics / message. Feel free to react to any / many other of their songs, can't go wrong ("Run Like Hell" from this concert is mind blowing as well).
Great reaction, spot on with your written thoughts all the way through and your spoken thoughts. Gilmour is a master of building up atmosphere, drama and emotion. The slow build up to the refrain, the gentle acoustic to the pedal slide guitar amping up the drama, and after the intensity of the electric solo, the winding down again is pure genius. I had the privilege of seeing Gilmour twice on his last tour do High Hopes, and it made me tingle and melt both times. Its the best Pink Floyd song certainly in the post Waters PF era, and probably top 5 piece of Floyd music overall (that's a tough list to make). An absolute emotional masterpiece with profound lyrics.
Nothing quite like a live Pink Floyd show. I’m grateful to have seen them a couple of times. Hope to see you react to more Floyd in the future. One word of advice, most of their albums particularly those when Roger Waters was still with them, are really meant to be listened to straight through in their entirety. Something to consider when selecting songs. I love Dark Side, The Wall, and Animals, along with nearly everything they’ve done. Nobody emotes through six strings like David Gilmour.
Yes, it has been a Spiritual experience for me since stumbling onto Ummagumma in 1969. From it try The Narrow Way from the studio half and Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun. These guys were so far advanced from everyone else, they helped invent much of the curve, never mind being ahead of it. Greatest of all bands, very few are anywhere near their level. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎷🎹🎶
Pink Floyd is the master of sound! They know exactly what to play and how to sing to get you in the mood that they want you to be in. They put so much detail into their music. Their lyrics, the instruments, the vocals, the visuals. All are there to maximize the experience and to hit you right in the feels. And they somehow just know how to do it every single time! :D Thanks for the reaction Sabina. You are a great reactor! :)
I close my eyes during this solo, the tears well up, and I long for simpler times of my childhood. The world has moved too far for my liking, and I long for the past constantly, but especially listening to Pink Floyd, and specifically listening to this song and slide solo. The words have meaning, but the solo says more than the words to me.
I'm wanting to express that; when the Division Bell album came out, it arose an anger within me; almost as if PF was snubbing their nose at me; yes I took it personally; and it's taken all these years since to realize the maturity one experiences with the music of Division Bell; then it felt like a permanent departure from what masses of people believed; that the old stylings of PF were being vanquished by their very selves; it's just that life goes on with experiencing 'High Hopes':)
Best, true and most emotional reaction ever!!!!))) Thank you so much for having a great time to spend together with you))) Good idea to not stoping the music for commenting)) You cool))
Love your reaction.... The feeling you get and listening to the lyricsm from Pink Floyd songs and music is only The Pink Floyd Experience. Once you have been encapsulated by one of the songs you long to discover more about this band and music. I have seen Pink Floyds songs and music hook and draw in the most unlikely listener. If one of their songs touches you and emotional way , you have experienced what all Pink Floyd fans have experienced. Love to see your reaction to " Sorrow, Time and a heap of other Pink Floyd songs". 👍👍👍👍👍
I have been a huge Pink Floyd fan for well into 30 years. I have never felt any band could or ever would come close. Then..... I discovered Nightwish. Only a few years ago now but i think my love for The Floyd is what made falling in love with Nightwish so easy. I may get hated for writing this but Nightwish to me is a heavy Pink Floyd. I love them both unconditionally.
I was scrolling past and saw this and watched of course, I checked your playlist and didnt see it but from the same show you MUST do comfortably numb... there is no other version like it and there never will be... I had the honor to see this tour both at Giants Stadium, NY/NJ & Veterans Stadium down in Philly both were amazing... If you didnt see it please do it . Comfortably Numb Pulse '94 tour
Pink Floyd - Pulse 1994 live, simply imposing, majestic, mystical, I never tire of seeing and listening to it, I have it on cassette, CD, VHS and DVD 👌👌👌👏👏👏
Your reaction to this song, especially during the lap steel guitar solo, shows the way it touches our soul and gives us somewhat of a melacholic feeling...of something that is very personal to each one. We all feel it in our own personal way.
When I listened this song first time, I stayed in a special state of mind, along a week, no hunger, no living without hear this sounds of heaven. A pleasure that hide the world, and I had tears falling of my eyes too🖐
Thank you for not interrupting.
Only a philistine interrupts a Pink Floyd track.
hell, philistine managed and stopped Roger water's brain from working

It's just out of this world. I saw them live on the The Division Bell tour, i won't never forget. High Hopes is just bone chilling live.
I agree wholeheartedly
I like the guitar solo much more than that in Comfortably Numb. So much emotion.
I couldn’t agree more the Pulse concert is totally amazing
the floyd are not simply a band or a genre, they are a phenomenon
There are Pink Floyd and then others. Greetings from Spain
Nobody can touch your soul with a guitar like David Gilmour.
right!!
David Gilmour can do more with one note than most guitarists can do with an entire fret board. Especially on a Steel Guitar
I would put Mr. Steevie Ray Vaughn and Mr. Eric Clapton in contention. BB King? Albert King? Mississippi Fred MacDowell? Meaning no disrespect to you or Mr. Gilmour.
@@pop9095All are awesome into perpetuity!

Thanks for letting us be part of this. I just agree with what you say and wrote. Love this song and the whole PULSE concert. There is no one that can put his soul into his guitar playing as David can. We are blessed to be living at this time and hear and experience his playing.
LOVE LOVE LOVE ❤️ 🤘😁
I love the fact that you show what you are feeling and thinking in closed captions... it lets the song flow but you also provide what we are here for... a reaction. Cheers from Costa Rica!
Thank you! Hugs! Costa Rica is such a beautiful country! ❤️
That's how a prefect reaction video is made, not spoiling the music in between and being expressive at the same time. Good job. Love to Pink Floyd. ❤️
Yes, I've loved the music of Pink Floyd since 1970. You hit it on the nail when you say: "it's almost a spiritual experience".
This song is the doorstep of heaven.
They are such an amazing band.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Powerful song, great reaction Sabina 😉
One of my favs. Great reaction Sabina as usual!
Thanks!!
Your reaction actually added to their performance. Uninterrupted, and your face told us everything. I felt that right along with you. Thank you!
Thanks a lot! ❤️
Just watched this, and I totally agree about your reaction enhancing the music, not distracting from it. Subbed.
Listening to Pink Floyd since 1973 when I was in the Dutch army and stil blown away with there music and play it every day .
I went to this concert back in 1994 to date this and seeing queen live aid have been the best 2 concerts I’ve ever been to
The whole Pulse concert is a masterpiece.
Thanks for the reaction Sabina.
Live In Gdansk is even better with an much longer outro acoustic guitar solo after the slide guitar.
You understand incredible music extremely well. Thanks for not pausing or speaking over such talent.
pink floyd always allowed space in their music. you can listen to the same song in a different decade and come away with new insight.
Great reaction! I agree: Pink Floyd never disappoints… absolutely magical. Glad I found your channel.
Loved your reaction, your doing it the right way. Thanks for not interrupting the music.
Thank you ❤️🙏🏻
Love your reaction....
👍👍👍👍👍
So beautifull to see how this song enters in your heart
Yo compré este album el año en que salió y todavía lo escucho. Una obra maestra
Great song. I’ve loved it for 25 years. The most amazing thing about Pink Floyd is they produce a live sound that most couldn’t achieve in a studio !
This song saved my life...many times.
Udine, September 1999...
Thank you for bring me back to one of the most incredible show I've ever seen.
Best concert I ever saw.
I can only imagine!!
I love your energy!..... beautiful girl, beautiful band, beautiful moment.
When I listened this song first time, I stayed in a special state of mind, along a week, no hunger, no living without hear this sounds of heaven. A pleasure that hide the world, and I had tears falling of my eyes too🖐
