I agree to all above and for something different I'd like to add Marko singing Schubert's "Ave Maria" at Raskasta Joulua (duet with Floor featuring three languages in one song).
Oh, and for a heart warming moment Marko Hietala "Lullaby" where he sings and plays for Jukka's youngest child.
Marko is an intelligent super talented singer....He really suited this band and helped elevate their status and popularity .
As I have said before. I met them all a few years ago. You can always tell true talent. They have no egos. They let the music speak for them. Marko was very laid back. Very kind and patient. He also has great sense of humor. Made me feel comfortable talking to them. Just a great bunch of people.
They seems so humble and wholesome. Cool you had the chance to meet them.
It takes a certain amount of audacity to even attempt a Pink Floyd cover - and immense talent to pull it off. What Marco and Nightwish do here goes beyond talent and all the way to genius.
I saw Nightwish in a club in 2016, and stood about fifteen feet from Marco. This song was a true highlight of an overwhelming show, and Marco at close range is even more amazing than what we see in these videos. I can't imagine how they'll ever replace Marco . . . but then again, I said the same thing about Tarja, and look how well that turned out.
We have great singers in Finland! Marko is the one and the best❣❣

Marko does such an inspired tribute. Dave's guitar sang the final 3rd of the song which is emotional af.... Marko did it equal justice. 🤘

This song was about troubles in the band Pink Floyd at that time and Tuomas decided to play a cover live in 2005

Sabina, you are spot on about Marko being ridiculously comfortable - yet intense - on stage. This is what he does. Which is why it's hard to believe he won't come back. Get better, sir, then rejoin us.
Other peeps here have already recommended another Marko highlight: The Islander (live in Tampere). You'll get to hear him perform VERY much solo, just him and a guitar in front of 20,000 people. And once again, he reveals different colours in his voice.

he has an operatic voice, which is rare for a rock singer, beautiful vibrato also, and his high notes sound so pleasant to our ears expecially the last corus it's sound so so so beautiful.. "the water flowing the endless river" in one breath!!!! what a long breath he has

Great tribute to Pink Floyd. Marko’s voice is great. We will all miss him in Nightwish. Get goosebumps every time seeing and hearing this version by Nightwish. You must see “the islander” live at tampere. Another song with Marco’s great voice.

As many before me already said, you need to watch 'The Islander' live from Tampere & I'll add that I think you should also listen to 'While your lips are still red' either the original studio version or the live performance from Wembley, both are great!

This is still a rare piece of art, one of the few were I prefer the cover to the original, this is not really a cover it is a whole new imagining of High Hopes. Marco just pours his heart into this song, and Emppu is stunning, Jukkas drums are perfection and Tuomas just supports the whole song, But it is Marcos real time to shine and he shines brighter than the sun

I bought this entire show on vinyl years ago. Only had to sell an organ and sacrifice a few virgins. The entire show from start to finish was amazing!
For me this is less a cover but more a tribute to the original song and to Pink Floyd.

This is one of my favorite performances, more like a tribute than just a cover.
One reactor, a guy from Germany, said this was a performance by 4 guys competing whose the coolest of all. They really all shine in this one.
When it's time, (whenever that might be, there is a lot of music in this world to react to) for your next main vocals by Marko reaction, maybe something softer that time.

I want to add one more song, from Marko's solo 2019 album:
Isäni Ääni/The Voice of My Father. In Finnish/In English.
Even many non-Finnish speakers prefer the original in Finnish. The English version lyrics can be easily found on the internet. It is important to know the lyrics, wise words by Marko.
(In the English language video Marko is blurred, because he sings in Finnish, they did not make a new video for the English version. And there is an unfortunate typo in the video, sing my 'song' and I'll be with you, instead of sing my 'son' and I'll be with you, like it should be.)

Marko has gone on record saying that this song pretty much inspired his whole career. So, when it was suggested that they cover this, he wanted to make sure he did it justice, while adapting it to Nightwish's style. I think they succeeded.

Hi Sabina, such a great reaction to this magnificent song you had. I think you might find interresting to hear Marko singing Islander -Tampere 2015 or Kiss, while your lips are still red - Wembley Arena. Of course he has amazing songs performing with Floor Jansen. I like his voice a lot, very unique voice. Only one in the whole world. So many times when we see him playing his bass, we forget how talented singer he is. I also appreciate him as a musician, writing songs and lyrics. Not to forget his talents to sing and play bass and guitar at the same time. I have heard the original song several times which is just great and I really don't like to compare it to this version. I like both of these very much. This gives different kind of wibes with that more metallic sound. Great work from Nightwish guys. Drums and guitar solos, YES! They just keep echoing in my head for a long time after the song ended. A great choise to pick this song here to listen. I'll be waiting for the next choise of your's... take care.

Most of us think that rather than cover this is a tribute to PF. Tuomas wanted to tune this original to fit NW and made it heavier and the result is so awesome and brilliant. Marco shows he not only that he is awesome bass player for NW but can sing so great at the same time and has so fitting voice for NW male singer role. So sad that he decided to leave.

3:08 A story I read is that Jukka had migraine and hold his head at 2:49, at 3:02 you see Toumas nod to Emppu to check him up and at 4:54 you can see Empuu jumping off the Drum stage after being there up with Jukka. Not sure it was like that but that’s what I read

This was more a tribute, than a cover.
I always notice the large dark area on the stage where Tarja would usually be, I think that was done on purpose considering what happened right after this concert. This was their big "oh so you will be better off with out us, eh?" response to Tarja. Basically go to that greener grass and burn those bridges and see how it turns out for you.

When Marko sings, no matter if the audience is in the thousands, I j know that he is singing just for me - that's how intimate his voice is. He can create a unique bond with the listener. Bravo!

The Nightwish boys like to call this a tribute to Floyd. Marko is a natural storyteller and is very comfortable as the lead vocalist. I’ve seen Pink Floyd three times live, and this Old Metal Rock Head thinks Nightwishes cover is just as good as the original. Nightwish made it their own! I was actually lucky enough to hear them perform this at a small venue in Birmingham, UK. A diehard Floyd fan I was with grudgingly admitted that it was “pretty good”. I know you can’t have a cover without an original, but an original can be improved, and this is one of the best examples. I realise that will not sit well with fans of Pink Floyd, but it’s an honest, impartial opinion. And yes, Marko literally destroys this, vocally.

I have always thought you to be attractive, but in this video you were especially lovely. Marko, does indeed have a fabulous voice, it is so sad that he has decided to take some time off due to disillusionment with the industry. He will be VERY hard to replace/substitute.
