- I show you how to install the tails as turns mod from Diodedynamics.com
This module converts the LED tail lamp into the turn signal for a modern appearance. The stock turn signal can now be used as an extra reverse light. I used their best leds available and the outcome is excellent. The reverse lights are incredibly bright.
You can get the module and leds that I used here: www.diodedynamics.com/store/c...
You can get the orange trim tool here:

You can get the 10mm extended socket here:

I used a nikon D5200 to make this video:

No joke, I just installed my tail as turn a few hours ago. I feel like you are a long lost twin with your build and mine
Thanks for making this video!
Should make a video that shows the output on the ground.
So do all led rear lights need tapped into power ? Any that are just bulb replacements ?
Can this be done on 4th gen 4runners...? The 03-05 donr have less stock tho so I wonder if it'd still work
Thank you for posting this video. At one point your mirror turn signals were in sync with the tails-as-turns at about 8:22 but then I noticed that later they blinked opposite at about 8:37? Just wondering if this happens randomly or if the mirror signals are always in sync or not, before I buy. Thanks!
Im sure it was just coincidental and random. Thanks for watching! I highly recommend them.
blurpleunc I think the difference is that he’s braking in the second clip. It inverts the rear lights.
I like the idea of brighter lights, but I wouldn't want to give up the bright amber turn signal, coupled with a separate red brake light, (SAFETY FACTOR) just to extra light to back up
Get an extra light bar you have over the windshield and mount it on the roof at the back pointing backwards of course , also get an extra bar light you have in the grill and mount it under the rear bumper
maybe a couple of ditch lights you have on the front, back there too
They would also be great to turn on, if someone is tailgating you
Or if your changing a tire on the highway, to blind people to slow down
Does this mess with the trailer tow lights or does that maintain normal functions?
Thats a great question! Diode Dynamics should be able to answer that one. If I get time, I will try to ask them. Thanks for watching!
Can you make this for Tacoma 2012 - 2015 ?, instead of using the signal light as reverse, used as red stop light with a switch back amber for turn signal...thanks please let me know
Hello, I really dont know about that, you should try to ask diode dynamics, they may have something for you. contact them here www.diodedynamics.com/info/contact-us.html hope this helps, thanks for watching!
The Ronin Chronicle thanks
You did the purple t-tapped with the immediate green wire of the housing connector on the driver side, and differently on the passenger side t-tapping the purple to the green wire after the module box. Which is the correct way?
Hey there,, I'm pretty sure it works either way, but just to be sure, I would do it after the module, how I did it on the passenger side. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
The Ronin Chronicle cheers! I went after the module to be safe.
I don't understand the point of this. Why would you make one bulb do to things break/turn when you have one for each. If you need more reverse light power just change the bulbs to led and mount some lights under the bumper.
I like it because it doesnt use amber lights anymore, and gives it a modern look. there are some vehicles that come from the factory that way, for example the mustang. Its also much easier that mounting lights under the bumper as this is a very simple plug and play system. I had LEDs in the reverse beforehand and you can see they didnt really do much. They were good quality but didnt cost as much as the new ones. The extra reverse lights and new reverse lights are incredibly bright. I also like that the key fob flashes the tail lights instead of an amber turn signal. Thanks for watching!
You defeated the purpose of that resistors mounting surface by using 3M tape. This should have been bolted to metal frame for heat dissipation.
I dont think it really matters, this was way easier than bolting it to anything, assuming there was even a spot to bolt it to, which I dont think there was. 1.5 years after this video was made, they are still working perfectly fine and so is the 3m tape.
Just a friendly note that it was engineered that way for thermal purposes. Glad it still works for you.
Thank you very much! I appreciate your comments! Thank you for watching!
