    So the kDSs don’t caused the lean but the suspension itself, I have a 2018 ORP w/kdss and installed TRD PRo with 2.5 ToyTec kit and it did have almost 2” lean on the right rear and 1” on front, after a lot of research, measuring my OEM suspension I noticed my front suspension has even coils compare to non kdss and TRD Pro which the driver side has 1 less coil on the Off road and the link adjusted one click up on the TRO PRO, so if all suspension are even like OEM it
    Shouldn’t have problem with the lean, I’ll adjust my passenger one click up to make it even with the driver side and see what happen.

    Thanks for posting and for the details. I like the product selection for this custom lift. It sounds like a great product combination and especially on a KDSS rig.
    I'm a little confused though about the front spacer though. So you've got a spring upgrade (spring rate and height) providing improved handling and height, plus a shock upgrade AND you're installing a spacer puck on top of all that awesomeness.
    Can you explain why the leveling spacer addition to the suspension lift, because in this suspension's geometry, the 0.5" leveling spacer will provide another 1" lift in the front. Is this to accommodate the OME rear 1.75" lift, so a lift AND level intent?
    So front is lifted (all told with spring, shock and spacer) with a 2.5" lift Toytec spring and an adjustable Eibach strut plus a 0.5" spacer yielding 3.5" front lift?
    And rear is (per 0:25, OME 2" rear...detail @ 5:35 suggests 1.75" lift OME PN:895E) and Eibach shock.
    So all told this is like 3.5 front 2ish rear? Lift and level.
    it looks great! thanks again for posting the details.

    I’ve got a 2013 GX460 with the KDSS system. Just recently lifted with OME suspension with 3 inches of lift. It’s developed the “KDSS Lean” to the right. Do you have any recommendations for correction of the lean? Thanks in advance!

    • @everydaybettereverydaystronger
      @everydaybettereverydaystronger  5 років тому +1

      It's not from KDSS. The driver side suspension always does this because the additional weight of the driver and gas tank

    • @asplenic16180
      @asplenic16180 5 років тому +2

      3" on a 460. Sweet! I have an 07 GX470 sport (KDSS) and will eventually lift. I've been reading north of 2" is troublesome with KDSS. I suppose doing it all and correctly, (UCA with adjustable ball joints, proper struts/shocks rear and springs) it's okay but I wonder at what point the KDSS binds or can't match the suspension lift. Or is this not an issue? Ergo, does the KDSS maintain it's full travel with the lift, and therefore you keep the KDSS' added articulation AND get the suspension travel increase AND lif gains?
      RE: KDSS lean. I hear Bilstein is coming out with an adjustable 6112 front strut with several ride height adjustments, which can account for the KDSS lean. Compared to the 5100s (like 4 settings) I think the adjustable 6112 have like 7-8 settings (so you can account for 0.25" differences)....
      this might be an interesting option and the 6112 is more appropriate for the GS than the 5100....but the bulletproof of OME is deffinitely the gold standard!!!

    Did you ever have to manually adjust the KDSS for passenger side lean after this lift? The Aussies adjust their Land Cruisers with KDSS manually after their lifts of 3" and it seems really easy to do, if necessary after going higher than 1" in lift in the first place. Thanks! Great vid. I hope to lift my KDSS 4Runner this way as well.

    Hi nice setup. How does it ride vs stock. If wanted to maintain a stock ride feel is there a shock recommend? Is the rear setup adjustable as well? If wanted to lower it ~1/2 inch in the rear vs your setup is that possible to level it out more. The Toytech says 2" spring in rear and I think you used OME which is 1.75" but both look too high in rear for my taste. Is there a rear setup you recommend for me? Thanks great video!!

  • @Saltydoc121
    @Saltydoc121 7 років тому

    You don't need to remove the tie rod end if you drop the control arm. Not sure why you did this. Did you readjust the tie rod length? Also, is that a 3" front 2"rear lift to level the rake? you should put that info in the description. thanks for the vid!

    • @everydaybettereverydaystronger
      @everydaybettereverydaystronger  7 років тому +2

      You're right on the tie rod end but it makes swapping the coil/shock assembly out way easier and also from rubbing together when removing. Tie rod length was adjusted during the alignment 2-3 weeks later after the lift settled a bit. The lift is 3" in the front, 1.75" rear. Thanks for the suggestion with the description. I've updated.

    • @teotwaki
      @teotwaki 6 років тому

      Driver's side is LEFT. Generally you have the driver, engine battery and gas tank all on the same side so the left of the truck has more load than the right side. OME makes three different springs to handle weight. Lowest is OME2884 Front Coil Springs
      and then OME885 or OME2887 for heavier load applications. You may have to go to the stiffer springs contact whoever you bought the kit from or check if your KDSS can be adjusted to compensate.

    • @everydaybettereverydaystronger
      @everydaybettereverydaystronger  6 років тому

      Sounds like you have the front coils in reverse order from left to right because they design the driver side to be a tad higher to compensate the gas tank and driver weight. I'd double-check with ARB to see if they still design them that way. If not, than you need their trim packer on the driver side to correct the lean

    • @everydaybettereverydaystronger
      @everydaybettereverydaystronger  6 років тому

      KDSS has no adjustment. You are correct about the driver side compensation.

    • @everydaybettereverydaystronger

      The Toytec rear superflex coils were a bit too high (3") for me personally which still give the factory "rake" look so I opted for these which give 1.75" lift.

    I live on the beach and my FOX coil overs, literately snapped in 1/2 on each side from rust. What is the best coil over that wont rust? Also can you use a spacer lift on a KDSS?

    • @everydaybettereverydaystronger
      @everydaybettereverydaystronger  8 років тому +4

      Not sure about the rust issue. Sounds like you live some where super salty! I'd say fresh water rinsing often is a given because FOX makes solid products. Yes you can use spacer kits with KDSS but we wouldn't because they usually ride like hell. Do it right the 1st time with a quality upgraded shock/coilover like Eibach, Bilstein, Toytec, OME, Icon, etc..

      Thank you for the reply, I agree spacer lift is 1/2 ass but im leasing for my 1st time because my FJ that I put 10k in modifications rusted so bad it was almost worth less. So before I go mod crazy Im basically doing a 3 year rust test. If I have rust issues I give back to Toyota is it has no rust Ill buy it. So for 3 years Spacer lift and larger tires is a band-aid. Yes I live right on the beach with a tiny garage everything rusts. But 75 degrees all year is a fair trade,

    Ok, I have another question. I have a 2017 TRDOFFROAD. Bone stock...I am trying to decide on a lift, wheels and tires. I love the ride of the stock suspension but I want the height and clearance of a lift. I read in this thread that you do not recommend spacers and coils only. So my question is...What is a good option for a full lift kit to maintain ride comfort, (I'll be 90% on road riding)? Also I want to bump up to 18 or 20 inch wheels...But how can I make it all fit and have minimal road noise increase? Very quiet cab being stock....Am I trying for a unicorn here? :):):) Advice is appreciated!!

    • @everydaybettereverydaystronger
      @everydaybettereverydaystronger  7 років тому +1

      I chose this particular suspension lift setup to maintain a comfortable ride while gaining height for the bigger tires which are an equal attribute in doing so. These tires are "D" rated which make them less heavy and stiff than a "E" rated tire which the majority of other tire brands are now. Also the more tire to wheel ratio you have makes a huge difference in ride quality. If your main concern is this, then definitely stay away from 20" wheels as they'll be hard as rocks because they have less cushion from speed bumps, pot holes, etc... Does you 4Runner have the KDSS suspension like this one? If yes, that also improves the ride quality. Check our follow up video to this: ua-cam.com/video/PaUOahy7S8s/v-deo.html

      Don't use the front coils and set the Eibach shock clip at 2". The rear you'd have to either use a 1" coil spacer or get another OME coil that's .75" shorter
