    I’d recommend a good cleaning around the valve cover before removing so you don’t have crud falling into your engine. Also, adding the rtv to the cleaned metal surface the gasket sits on, so you’re not wiping it off on other parts in the engine while trying to install the cover. Helpful video nonetheless, thanks!

    You're doing a nice job bro, very useful, love this model of accord, so good. I'm driving 1992 accord and just replaced valve cover gasket for some months like this, just subscribe to support your channel.

    Very good video, great detail to job at hand as well as progress and process details . The envy of every car owner is this type of detailed attention in their mechanic. Would make a great maintenance school instructor. Thank your mentors , they've done a great job. and thank you for wanting to learn and do things correctly. The best in the future.

    I'll bet this video helped a lot of people. I have a 2005 i4 with 105k miles that has this exact valve cover leak. The thing is, I bought this car new, and has been pampered: garaged in CA, engine oil changed every 5k, ATF changed every 2 years, driven delicately, etc. Yet, I still have this problem. If I have this problem, I know everyone has this problem. So thank you! You helped us all.

    I recommend Honda bond.
    Also apply the silicone to the engine not rubber.
    I would apply a bead the the whole back side too. K20 engine are notorious for leaking from the back of the valve cover

    Can I use any type of RTV sealant for the valve cover gasket?

    • @VeryGoodGarage
      @VeryGoodGarage  3 роки тому +1

      You just need to make sure your rtv is good to use where oil will be, I believe that is the purpose of black rtv

    With that Felpro gasket kit, you will for sure come back to replace the gaskets with an oem ones because they will leak, they are not of quality.

    • @VeryGoodGarage
      @VeryGoodGarage  3 роки тому

      Oh man I'd have to hard disagree with you on that one, we've essentially only used Felpro on all of our cars and never had problems unless we installed wrong, e.g. used too much silicone or torqued it incorrectly
