    lots of people have commented on the upside down seals on the ignition coil tubes. While it's true that he put them on wrong, the way this works is to just create a seal between the tube and the cover. I believe he would be fine with the way he did this in that regard as long as the seal isn't damaged from hammering it in. The seal has a hard spot around it's edge that can be hammered with a socket, which helps when inserting it. If you followed his video and put them on wrong, I would not worry about it - just check your tubes for the first few thousand miles and make sure no oil is accumulating. If so, DO NOT REMOVE THE PLUGS - just use compressed air (compressor is best) and force the oil out - then redo the job.

      You are right, he did install the seals wrong way and I've told him in the comment section with the hope to make a remark and admit his mistake but was very arrogant and changed nothing. Many people made the mistake by following his video.

    I know this is an older video, but I was hoping you could clarify where to put the silicone. Is it just on the gasket like shown or on the mating surface as well? And does it go all the way around that end of the valve cover. I'm doing my 05 TSX cover as soon as the paint dries on the new one.

    • @HelpingHandAutoRepair
      @HelpingHandAutoRepair  4 роки тому +1

      Just inside the valve cover a little bit to hold the gasket in place.

    So I broke one of the valve cover bolts that the valve cover is held on with. I bought new one and need to know what the torque spec is to put it back in..its the one that sits on the left by timing chain. Technically the threads were screwed so I took it out to replace. There's 5 Bolt A's then 1 longer one being Bolt B

    • @HelpingHandAutoRepair
      @HelpingHandAutoRepair  4 роки тому

      The one by the timing chain that is the only different bolt should be 7 ft lbs.
      The others should be 8.7 ft lbs.

      @@HelpingHandAutoRepair okay so I ended up replacing all 6 bolts. I had to replace vtec solenoid which is original reason for removing valve cover and stripping bolts. I replaced spark plugs while i was at it cause why not. Now after i put it all back together and started car, after about a minute it started smoking from rear of block so I shut it off. I'm not sure whats causing this and hoping I didn't screw something up. Theres some small amount of oil on headers but dont think that'd put out the amount of smoke that I seen. Any clue? Once again thanks for the help/advice.

    • @HelpingHandAutoRepair

      More than likely the valve cover gasket became dislodged when you put the cover back down onto the head.

      @@HelpingHandAutoRepair should i take valve cover back apart and if that is the case just re seat or will I have to get a new gasket due to heat or being squeezed? And would anything else cause the smoking? Idk if It would have anything to do with it but all together today I changed *1* Primary 02 for running rich (used denso) *2* vtec solenoid for code saying rocker arm stuck traced to that part or low oil (oil seemed alright according to dipstick, but did notice oil on garage floor. *3* spark plugs *4* valve cover gasket and spark plug gaskets *5* valve cover bolts. Now to note i didnt hook air intake box back up before starting vehicle getting dark so too many screws at the moment to find. It was pretty much just open out the breather hole on right of valve cover

      Oh are you guys talking about the tube seals? It’s quite possible that there was a design change on these valve cover gaskets at some point since a variation of this engine is still in use today. So eBay probably put both sets in just in case they didn’t know which design it was.

    • @briandimascio3624

      Yea I was wondering this when I did my 03 type s. Felpro has different part #’s for the base and type s. base model felpro u get 4 tube seals while the type s kit includes 8. I got the type s kit ($10 more) bc it said the base kit wouldn’t fit my car. If u get the gasket kit from Honda it’s the same kit for both models so idk why they do this. There are only 4 tubes, it should only need 4 seals 🤷.

    • @EricV206
      @EricV206 Рік тому

      You prolly already figured it out but the kit comes with the 4 tube seals and the other 4 smaller ones go over the ignition coils

      In a perfect world the gasket will seal everything good. However I have learned that some areas on certain engines last a little longer when you apply silicone to certain spots that are prone to leak.
