- This is a step by step tutorial on how to replace your valve cover gasket on a 2003-2007 Honda Accord 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines. The reason I am replacing my valve cover gasket is because it was leaking oil from the back of the engine onto the muffler creating a burning smell and burning a lot of oil. I had to refill it with oil almost every week. Running your vehicle without oil can blow your engine and with leaking oil it’s hard to tell when your vehicle is out of oil unless regularly checking.

I'm confused are the seals supposed to be facing that direction to seal it because someone I know put those tube seals the opposite direction. It's crazy idk what is right or not.
@@tattemup_padro5426 hey thanks for watching. The correct way to install these is the way the video is showing you. You can look up on UA-cam “tips on installing valve seals” by fel pro gaskets and they will show you the same way that is in the video. Hope this helps and hope you sub to the channel.
I wish i saw your video when i changed my spark plugs as i didnt know that you have to put the coil packs back in the same spot, im abouts to be changing my valve gasket next weekend and i thank you for this video, do you think it will ruin my coil packs cause i didnt put them back in the same ones like you did?
Hey thanks for watching. The coil packs are interchangeable but the actual connectors are specific to the vehicles firing order.
Hey mate, I just replaced my valve cover gasket. I used 7.2 ft/lbs torque on the valve cover bolts.
I have a small gap between the valve cover and mating surface. Is it normal for a new gasket or have I done something wrong?

Hey thanks for watching. Sounds like something is sticking. There are these nubs sticking up you gotta make sure they go into the holes. You shouldn’t have a gap because when you tighten it down it squishes the gasket closer together. It took several tries to get it to sit right for me before finally tightening it down. I just bought the same gasket for my '03 Accord. Mine came with two sets of tube seals (8 total). Which ones should I use?

Lube the spark plug tube seals with silicon before you put them in and you can probably push them all the way in by hand. Lube the inside of the seals with silicon and putting the valve cover back on will be a lot easier and make ripping the spark plug tube seal less likely.

My valve cover bolts keep snapping when I go to tighten them, didn’t even get the the torque spec before it snapped, 2 snapped so far I don’t want to leave them too loose but I honestly don’t even know how much to tighten them
Hey thanks for watching. I definitely know how you feel. This happened to me recently when I was redoing my exhaust valves. I had to go to the junkyard and get new bolts but what I ended up doing was not torquing them exactly to what the book spec says. Instead I went hand tight which is a little bit before what the torque spec is and it’s golden no leaks or anything and remember to go in a star ⭐️ pattern like your tires when tightening. It’s not a crucial part that will make your car blow up all it is is a cover at the end of the day to keep oil from leaking out. Make sure to put the permatex gasket maker in the sample places I did and you’ll be golden. Hope this helps and hope you sub to the channel.
I know this is my second comment but so you have to let the rtv sit for an hour before tightening everything down?
No you want the RTV to dry with everything assembled because you want it to make a seal to keep everything inside from coming out.

Don’t you need to use torque wrench to tighten the nuts on the valve cover?
Hey thanks for watching. Yes you should always use a torque wrench. I’ve been doing this for so long I can feel how much torque I actually need. Still running strong to this day.

@@dipenshakya2184 Spec on valve cover bolts is 7.2 ft-lbs or 86.4 in-lbs. You need a 3/8" or 1/4" drive torque wrench to tighten accurately to these low torques, or a beam-pointer torque wrench. Hope this helps.
