Hair extensions come with a shiny slippery coding on them (so they look nice and to make sure they don't tangle in the package). Washing them before dreading or dying or anything is very helpful. Just a tip!

Ohh! Do you know what chemicals they use to make them like that? Should we avoid hair softeners?
@@saragarofano9727yup. Avoid any conditioner on the Dred lengths. Only shampoo them once per week tops. Your scalp can be done with a shampoo and (conditioner if u really need ) but watch out it can & will soften/loosen the hair making them come out.
Rinsing em in apple cider vinegar is a great way to do this but it can help with allergies b4 installing vs finding out ur screwed
Backcombing is the very art of ensuring a tangled hair situation so if that is the intent any conditioning would not b recommended but this is especially true on us white girl locs cuz we most amyway have straight hair @saragarofano9727

I wanted to say Thank you for being you. I have been trying the journey of self discovery and just being my individual self. Been wanting dreads for awhile and will be starting today. It's hard to just be you where I live and wish I had friends like you. People where I live are very judgemental and make your life miserable for not following their line here. I’ve come to learn a little thicker is better than too thin of dreads! Thick is sturdy. And if you find they mature too thick, you can always brush out and resection those ones.

My MIL is a hairdresser and doesn't advise me to loc my hair but it's just hair so what's the worst that could happen? I've been wanting to do it for over a year. Hello. Love your chanel and I find your advises reeeeeeeeally helpful, and I would love to get your opinion on this. So, I have thin hair. I don't have a lot of hair either. I've made dreadlocks (i have left a piece of hair, at the top, not braid to make it more feminine), and they are thin. I love them, they look great when I put them up, I really got the thickness I wanted - when it comes to the dread itself. My problem occurs when I want to let them hang (just have them loose). I have only 19 dreads. The are made with my hair only. Is there ANYTHING that I can do to get a enough volume to be able to let them loose and that having them like that actually looks good? I really hope you'll get time to answer me. Thank you so much for your chanel, you explain everything without sounding boring, and, I find that you making video's in the open gets a bit of sunshine in our homes us well. ❤️ Never change please. 😊

I love the look of Dreads, but I have an issue with a bald spot on the crown of my head.Obviously I'm going to need to use hair extensions to get to the length I want, but what worries me is how to deal with the bald spot.

I have armpit length dark hair and have wanted locs forever. I did make experimental dreads last week. One was too thick and the other was nice and small.
I watched another of your vids that said about 60 is a good number. I don't want huge thick dreads that is so obvious. I LOVE yours. It is almost unrecognizable as dreads as they are so soft looking and thin and feathered at the tips. Those are exactly the way I want mine. So, I am thinking, larger parts and thin dreads?

i got The Sassy 18 inch human hair extensions but by time I twist and rip and crochet all I have is like a 5 inch extension and I wanted really long ones because my hair is shrinking so bad any suggestions?
madison bankston that's why I leave long flowy ends... but if you want longer dreads, you'll have to extend the current ones with a new set.

The problem I'm having is that my latch hook doesn't flop around like yours does. The latch is firmly stuck in place so I have to move the hinge with my finger and that takes so long that I just give up

I have extended my dreads with human hair by 22-26 inch hair and now 22-26 inch long hairs has fallen all over my house and scares me to death having this happen at work. Which is a restaurant. This has NOT happened YET. My dreads are only three weeks old altogether so I feel it's somewhat normal right???

How many dreads do you have? Did you add dread extensions to your roots yo make your dreads look more full? I did my dreads roughly 1-2" apart. They are thin yet i only have 40... Im just not happy with the overall thinness of my dread look...
Hi! I wanted to tell u that I had the same problem w my hair.. I also had about 40 dreads. U can take some knotty extension hair & use a crochet hook to 'fill in' the root area. But u have to keep doing it every few months as your dreads grow longer. I have really thin hair.. And I just kept adding a tad too my roots every few months for almost 3 years. I loved my dreads and I think it's the only time in my adult life I actually love my hair lol. I shaved my head last December... Now I'm getting ready to put them back in! (Huge mistake shaving lol) sending love from Austin Texas
