Love your video. My son introduced me to your channel. I have been (secretly lol) interested in creating dreadlocks for a long time. And yours was the most entertaining and easy to understand that I have found. And for a 77 yr old grandmother, that means the world to me. Thank you for sharing.

Finally someone i can talk to you about this. I have baby fine hair and im 65 and im tired of my hair constantly falling out. I thought about bix braids but i done have $500 to do that. So dreads are now in my sight to look at. I'd love to have sister locks but don't know if that would be possible with my hair type. I sont want thick locks at all, so im guessing having more smaller locks will cost more, and thats if i can even find someone local that does them. Ive watched videos how to do them, but oy vey i dont think i have that kind of stamina, so id i have to do them myself, should i do underneath first or on top and work in towards the scalp? Hope these arent to many questions from an od lady! Shalom!

Hi there! Dreads might be a great option for you. Start on the bottom row and get your practice where it’s not as noticeable. You’ll get practice and can slowly work your way up! Make them thin, not too thin, and they will thicken up over time. Take your time doing each one, row by row, and you’ll gain confidence throughout! Don’t over maintain them. You should be just fine! We have a kit with an additional course to help you, if needed. 🫶

I cannot find very much info about mapping out dreads and sectioning them for THICKNESS
    What is the formula?
How big will your dreads be per section?
    Ex: 1”x 1”= ? Size dread
    1”x 2” = ? Size dread
If you check this will you please send out a blip? I know you brushed them out but if you check... please?

I work outside at a pipe yard, and I wash em every thrusday, or friday. oooooorrrrrr when I feel like I need it. if that makes it 2x a week for that week then I will. I might dye them.

I have big respect for you and your expertise. I have admired and wanted dreads for years. However, my hair is baby fine and super thin, this is hereditary and continues to get thinner with age. My mother is in her 70's and I can see her scalp very prominently all over her head. I hope my hair never gets that thin however it is a possibility. My question is: Is it possible that some people just don't have enough hair, for dreads?

I don't even know how to ask the question properly... When I first start, how do I decide which hairs will be combined into one strand? Can I do this at home alone?

Lance Koudele hey, it depends on how long your hair is. That’s pretty much the answer for both of your questions. :D
My hair was up to my chin/ shoulders and we needed a day (no professionals, just my mum and me and we took breaks in between)
