Okay I just have to say, I’ve been trying to find a video that clearly explains AND shows how to do this off and on for SO long. I am beyond grateful to you for making this.
Thank you!! I’m 48, in Reno, and about to start my second dread journey after 23 years! I want this set to be better than the ones I had in my 20s and I want to loose less length. I think this technique will be PERFECT!!!
Out of all the videos I've watched in preparation to repair and maintain my BF's dreads, this was the easiest to understand. Thank you for explaining the crochet method, instead of just showing yourself doing it while talking about other things. I completed hair school in 2002, and I have never in all this time actually learned how to do dreads. Derp. Also, thanks for the positivity. I hope you have a really awesome life, and same to anyone else who reads this. Ima go hunt though your catalog now, and find out if any of your vids address the other questions I have. Xoxo
Thanks for your help on making dread locks. This may seam weird to you but I’m 64 years old and I make dolls. I wanted to make one with dreadlocks and had no way of knowing what to do. You have made this so easy. Thank again, I truly appreciate how easy you have made this 😊🤗💕
Ok now I've searched high and low to find out how to do the crochet locs technique, and THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO that actually shows you how to the Do the looping etc close up and in slow motion....🏆🏆🏆🥇🥇🥇thank you sooo much hon 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
@ladyshake Uk, I was thinking exactly the same. I haven't seen anyone explain it so simply and show it close up and slowly, hair by hair strand and literally showing where and how the crochet hook is picking up the hair and where and when you twist.... and I am not even interested in having dreads but I found it fascinating the process. Especially on straight silky hair, as opposed to afro coily and drier hair.
hey girl! currently in my college dorm where my best friend Grace is dreading my hair. We are on this journey together!! Thank you so much for this video, you are brilliant! Peace be with you ;)
There is something about you, you have this unique light, the second I click on one of your videos you gave me that vibe, full of light, you are very special and an amazing perosn with a very unique soul
I came here because one random dreadlock video with extensions and now i saw your dreadlocks my jaw dropped! Daym girl, there are gorgeous🤩 im working as i hairdresser in norway and i really want this! Wow just wow!
I ABSOLUTELY love the way you explain things! I’m trying to expand my clientele to include clients with this hair texture…..the best and better to you! Thanks for your help Cincinnati Ohio
The first time I tried to diy my dreads, I did the twist and rip method, but then I had a bunch of twists that lead to holes in my dreads. So after 2 months of fighting with them I combed them all out. I had no idea that you could "twist too many times" so this video answered so many questions for me!!! So excited to try again.
I dont want dreads, i never will but i still loved this. Ive been trying to do the exact opposite & make my hair as healthy as as i can, i felt so stressed out during the knotting but i kept reminding myself we have diffrent hair goals so for you thats positive.
I just had my loc extenstion added because I have soft hair and she added it, but I'm so happy you showed how to maintain it so I don't have to keep going to her for her to do it. I just ordered a kit from amazon and some jewelry. But I'll add it in about a month. I'm just excited to finally start my loc journey.
thank you for being so helpfull. im getting ready to dreadlock my husbands hair and your videos have been my favorite to learn from. Looking forward to watching more!
Excellent tutorial! I really wish I had known you 7 years ago when I got my dreads. I had them done professionally because I have EDS and can't hold my arms up long or manage a small instrument like a crochet hook or even a pen or pencil for longer than my signature usually. My dreads having been "professionally" done from start to finish weren't platted out (parted in even squares and put in the rows evenly in a brick pattern) which definitely made for future problems and my dreads aren't evenly spaced or sized. For what I paid, it pisses me off, but I couldn't have done it myself that way even if I was healthy! My hair was waist length which for the couple doing them was probably daunting. They did them in one day but like this video shows they didn't need to be super tight. Tight at the scalp I would understand if they were platted but they told me "aside from esthetics there's no reason for the type of parting out, it just takes way longer, and it won't even matter in the long run because you won't be able to see it". They were elbow deep in work already so I didn't push it because it was too late unless I bailed and got them fixed. I wouldn't do that to anybody. I finally went home with dreads that felt like I was being scalped every time I touched them and they stuck out like I was being electrocuted. They had also lost about 2"-3" more than half their length. They were up to my shoulders. I was happy I brought a hat but pushing them down under it hurt so much so I was embarrassed for a solid 4-5 days. My hair isn't super thin or baby fine but due to them not parting them in medium skinny plats (I wanted skinny dreads with whispy ends, it was already dies pink but due to my early grey hair I only deposited color and didn't use other chemicals so my hair was the healthiest it had ever been. Making do with what I ended up with was incredibly frustrating. I didn't even have 40 dreadlocks. I think it was 37 I counted. So once it grew it has been really hard to style. I never wanted to use extensions but due to how uneven the lengths were (top dreads are shorter than bottom ones for obvious reasons) I had to add some human har extensions to 6 or 8 of them even now that they are waist length again because I couldn't get them to stay in the simplest bun let alone anyway else. Leaving them down makes them look so sparse because I don't have more than what I started with, 37 or whatever it is. Finding ways to style these has been such a pain I ALWAYS have them in this Marge Simpson bun and I hate it.
