@@twistedbeautycheyenne yea kinda lol but you can use essential oils to get rid of it lol. My biggest complaint is how scratchy my dreads are. I did the dipping in hot water. Over time washing helps some but not enough.
I wish I saw this comment a week ago because I did not know that and I braided and some DE synthetic locks and sure enough my skin started to burn and cause bumps
Just a little friendly tip, if you soak the hair in organic apple cider vinegar before working with it it removes all the plastic coating build up and the nasty smell 😘✌🏼 I'm also lazy and will put a boiling pot of water on the stove so I can just dip in handfuls in at a time ☺️
I just took some hair I have, synthetic, and did near the same but did not use an iron. I back combed and rolled and took a crochet hook and ratted the hair up inside, then kept rolling and put braid foam on it, it took 3 hours to do one dread. lol. I hope to find it faster to do
kā•neck•a•Lon.... respect. 🙅🏾♀️can•a•klon Tip-you can boil a pot of water and soak everything once you’ve made the whole batch. Faster and softer plus you get rid of some of the fusing and bonding chems that make them feel itchy.
This is exactly how I made my first ever set. This method of heat sealing isn't very good and to boot it made the dreads hard and itchy. Was nearly impossible to sleep once they were installed.
All synthetic/Kanekalon hair has a skin irritating agent in it that needs to be neutralized. You can soak your dreads in apple cider vinegar and warm water in order to strip some of the alkaline off which will stop itching and bumps from occurring.
♡ it! I just got into synthetic dreads. I actually just bought that exact same color combo kanekalon hair a few weeks ago lol I'm super excited to make them. Great video!!
hey ! will the kanekalon irritate your head at all? i want to make a full head of dreads but i don’t want to come across issues! ☺️ if anyone has had experience with this, please reply! i’d love to know before i start. thanks!!!! 💖
For me I could never wear kanekalon dreads because I got ret itchy splotches all over my scalp after a few days that wouldn't go away. That usually happens when you're allergic or have a very weak scalp that can't take the pulling. I just switched to wool dreads, and they worked fine since they're way lighter than the kanekalon dreads :) I definitely recommend to try getting a few installed on the back of your head to see if your scalp reacts after a few days. If it doesn't, you can safely put the rest in!

@@ShadowRayne16 I did soak them in apple cider vinegar, however the irritation was still there afterwards and I went to a dermatologist who said the reaction I have is definitely an allergic one :) Happens very rarely, but I literally couldn't handle wearing them more than 4 days because it started itching and hurting like crazy. Since it worked with wool dreads, I now know that I am just allergic to kanekalon.
I use 40DE for a deathawk style; which is both sides shaved. You can make 10 pencil thick dreads out of one package. So id reccomend at least 4 packs for undershave

Help i really like the idea of getting dreadlocks but I've been told it's cultural appropriation? It's not like I'm going for braided hair just synthetic colourful extension dread locks. Now confused
It’s not cultural appropriation. People who claim dreads are cultural appropriation unfortunately are not informed on the fact that various cultures used dreads and braids for protecting their hair or for decor. Multiple cultures including but not limited to (I don’t claim to know every culture): The Celts, Vikings, Germanic tribes, Greeks, African tribes, Inuits, Rastafarians, Aztecs, and I’m sure there are more. Unfortunately I don’t think the issue will ever be “settled” and people are always going to find something to complain about especially in America where race is such a sensitive topic and for good reason. However not everything that white Americans do is intended to “steal” or culturally appropriate from another culture. ✌🏼💜🌎
@TheSuperMegaUltra You can use high heat kanekalon for crochet style dreads, you just need to crochet longer. A really hot iron on a wet rag can create a lot steam and you could pull the dreads through the wet rag (put the iron in top of it) for a little shrink, but it won't do !as much. For twist and seals definitely use low heat kanekalon like x-pression ultra braid.

Does this affect the way it seals at all

Tried this is did not help. My dreads are soooo scratchy. Washing over time softens some but damnnn man why so rough 😆

thanks I have too try this
Hi, great tutorial, I´m definitely doing this. Btw, do u think 3 or 2 packs of hair will be enough if i have an undercut?
Most sites who sell bundles reccomend 6 bundles so if you have an undercut id reccomend 4
I use 40DE for a deathawk style; which is both sides shaved. You can make 10 pencil thick dreads out of one package.
So id reccomend at least 4 packs for undershave
I think 2 packs is enough if you don't like to feel your head too heavy, dreads and braids weight, specially if you are high
Thanks what I have too. It still takes me 35 to fill my head though.
Do these stay together pretty well once installed?
Lmao girl all I have right now is time so bring it 🥰

Does this technique work with single ended dreads?
How many packs of kanekalon do i need for whole head of dreadlocks?
The amount of packs vary on how thick your hair is and how thick you make your dreads, i would say 4-5 packs but it depends.
When i did just braids on my full head, i used 3 packs. But thats because i have very thin hair
Short
Do you do same process
What does the "DE" mean? Helpful video thank you 👍
DE isshort for double end
I want to see thesseeeee lol you should link that too
Are you gunna ever put these in?
High heat kanekalon like that doesn't seal that way unfortunately. :(
That's what I have. Tips?

Are they heavy when installed
Depends on how many you put in, but in general its not too heavy because its all synthetic plastic~
Mine are yes. Definitely not for the tender headed. I tie them up or use a scarf to take weight off sometimes if I don't have them down
How many dreadlocks do you make with one pack?
It depends how thick or thin you make them, so i wouldn't be able to say~ if you get a pack you can separate it into chunks and see from there.
I think I hung out with you at a bar, hello 😂
This is wholesome
