I remember my first time on a plane (2nd time actually cuz we were going home). I was listening to goijra on my sony bluetooth earbuds. Literally the moment we were going from ground to sky, the rising part, I heard this part of the song. While having the view of Austria below me hehe. The sky is all over me. And I was like, holy shit. I didn't plan that. Was amazing.

A Gojira song not many people mention, yet is beautiful, is 'Low Lands'. It's quite a calm song, compared to the rest of their work, but it has a vibe to it, with Joe (the singer) doing some clear vocals. I'm sure you'd enjoy this song. And I'd love to hear your opinion about it.

Par-delà le soleil (beyond the sun)

The anxiety in Joe's voice is what makes this song for me. The riff and composition of the song is so simple but the expression in the vocals are to die for. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I always describe Gojira and Machine Head singing as more of a 'yell' than a 'scream'. Obviously there's plenty of variance with both artists but just that extra bit of tone that comes through in the vocals is a big part of why I love these guys.

I've always thought Gojira was the perfect execution of that "vocals as an instrument" thing
Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure the screaming/yells are usually referred to as harsh vocals, and/or harshness as a quality. So having a note as the backing, and putting some heat, or harshness on top of it, is what gives you those pitched yells. Or in the case of where the pitch is less recognizable, it's usually on the lower or higher end of the vocalist's range, with the heat turned all the way up. Maybe this will make it easier to talk about, i dunno.

@@nathangreen5097 Alcest would be cool since Neige hasn't messed with KPN in a long time. Hopefully Geebz doesn't mess too much with BM because there's way too many sketchy and racist bands.

Hey, Geebz. Since you've gotten into Gojira and Meshugga, I think you might find 'Brännmärkt' off of Vildhjarta's new album 'Måsstaden Under Vatten' very interesting! Congratulations on the upcoming 1 year anniversary, and 200k. AWRIGHT!

Gojira are bad to the bone, drums are insane. I love all the heavy, sort of industrial-metal sounds and nuances from the drums..and everything else about this band! Awwright!

The Gojira song I've most looked forward to you doing, as it's the one that got me into the band to begin with. That transition at the 26-ish second mark into the song and the riff they repeat for most of the track really grabbed me; it puts me into a trance almost every time I come across it.
I know you're doing all these re-reactions to artists you've visited before but I wouldn't be doing my self diligence if I didnt bring up Sylosis yet again! Tracks like Mercy and Leech really give off a similar vibe to what Gojira does in how they do these build-ups to the different breaks in the song

    Nice "quoi"! Nice review too!
To help you pronounce "L'enfant sauvage" (the wild child), think of the "an" in antique but keep the "n" as short as possible: l'an-fan (and you got the sauvage quite good, except where you've written it ;) !)

Another awesome thing about Gojira is they don't cuss or use negative energy in their music. Positivity, Life, Love and experience. Gojira is the pinnacle of music and they are an amazing example of what humanity should strive for. Truly amazing people.

This song is so dope! Heavy and etherial at the same time, has this trademark Gojira vibe to it thanks to the drumming and Joe's voice. The groove is amazing! The way you are moving your head during the break says it all :)
    Congrats on 200k!
