The Czar is absolutely insane, that solo would probably melt his brain. Now as much as I'd like him to react to The Last Baron, I think it's such a perfect album closer that I'd rather he listen to the whole Crack The Skye album and enjoy it in his own time
A lot of people have said this to me now that I've been listening to Gojira over the past year; that their live shows are phenomenal, like Tool. Hope I get to see them one day. I've seen Tool a number of times.
I have had the opportunity to see Gojira at Aftershock in Sacramento, CA twice now. So awesome to see in a festival setting. Loud and the double bass thumping. I hope to see them again in 2021 at Aftershock again if it actually happens.
@@ManSquatch777 When it finally hit me that the drummer for Gojira was actually playing those double-bass parts, with that power, at that speed, with that accuracy, without any cheats, I discovered Mario Duplantier. This was years ago, and I have been obsessed with Gojira ever since. For me, that's the #1 thing that keeps bringing me back to this band; as a lifelong drummer, I have to marvel at how unbelievably clean Mario's double bass work is; sure there's lots of other guys that can go that fast, but not like that; not with that much power; you can hear the air in between each stroke. In theory, this is a fairly simply band; but in reality they're TITANS! Honestly, Gojira TOTALLY flew over my head for years before I finally realized: THEY ARE ONE OF THE GREATS!!!
I TOTALLY get your comment about Arab/Middle Eastern tune on this song. Thats EXACTLY what I thought the first time I listened to the song years ago since I'm an Egyptian so I totally had the same comment!

Gojira’s music speaks to me on a deep personal level and I feel very fortunate to have seen them live from their early ventures out of their native France. If there is one song I would love to recommend by them - and there are many - it would be Flying Whales. That sh*t is epic. Heaviest riff known to man

"Flying Whales" from Gojira is a beautiful one to discover and explore as well! I'm french and I still remember them playing their first album "terra incognita" in my city Agen when I still was 15yrs old! I never imagine they'll go so far, they're truly amazing.
Wow, finally a react channel where someone loves all kinds of music and loves talking about music! If you like prog stuff inspired by classics like King Crimson, Genesis, Rush etc definitely check out more Opeth. They started as a pure death metal band, then went more and more prog until they went full prog rock in 2011. They have a big discography and everything they've done is great. I recommend Blackwater Park or Deliverance as a good starting point. Or if you want pure prog rock then Cusp of Eternity or Moon Above Sun Below
Both studio and live are good, but I definitely prefer the guitar solo in the studio version. There's nothing wrong with his playing in the live version, but the "voice" of the guitar sounds horrible. It just stands out so awkwardly in an otherwise brilliant live recording that it taints my enjoyment of the whole song.
I’m going to tell you that you must see these guys live. I saw them with Slipknot and that’s the night that I became a fan. One of the tightest bands I’ve ever seen live.

Yeah Ziltoid the Omnicient for example, isn't there a track/skit where the character of Ziltoid also drinks a cup of coffee? That would get meta, so it's a nice from me
now go back and listen to it with reading the words .. so much meaning in their lyrics throughout all of their songs!!!! .. great review .. look forward to next! Love Gojira!
This is a good song, but Gojira has some absolute master-fucking-pieces so you have to dig a bit more. My recomendation, mmm, The Gift of Guilt, or The Art of Dying
For technicality check out the godfather of death metal Chuck Schuldiners (RIP) band Death. They were tech from the late 80's onward! Vocals are straight death metal. Musicianship is so crisp!! Fretless bass by Steve Di'Giorgio. Album: Human from 1992 Song: Lack of Comprehension Do it braddah do it!! Eddie would Go!! ;)
Yo, Gojira is sick. Big ups for checking them out. Definitely check out some of their other work, too! If you want some Prog Rock to check out, I recommend Coheed & Cambria. The Dark Sentencer is a newer song from the first LP in their pentalogy concept album. ua-cam.com/video/T3zm1_JSPOQ/v-deo.html I highly suggest looking up a bit of the story before listening since it's got a good bit of storytelling in the track.

I honestly don't think this is the best specimen of Gojira for this kind of reaction. The Art of Dying is great, like others have suggested, Born In Winter is a favorite of mine but idk how complex the theory is.

Hey man, just discovered your channel today and watched like 12 videos already. I like what you are doing, keep it up man! I really enjoy your perspective. I personally enjoy when you talk more technical stuff about the composition even though I'm a musical novice. I realize some people probably get lost if you go into the details too much, so you gotta do what you gotta do, but if you ask me I don't think you should worry about boring us with technical details. We came here to watch someone reacting to a song we (presumably) already know, so the added depth of your analysis as someone 'in the know' is actually a great way to have us come away from the video with more knowledge than just "Hey, that old dude likes the song I already knew was awesome". Anyways, that was just my opinion on the matter because I have heard you say that you want to spare us from the technical talk in some of the videos. I think that since a lot of your videos are about metal songs its fair to assume that a lot of your audience is interested in the more musically proficient aspects of the music than the average bear. We metal heads tend to be pretty elitist after all lol! Also, I'm sure it gets old to just get a bunch of hard rock/metal recommendations, but I think its a good niche to fill. Not as much of this 'reacts to' content for those of us interested in metal. If you are taking requests I would love to see more Gojira (nailed the pronunciation btw), Opeth, and Devin Townsend (my absolute favorite musician in the world) content, plenty of great recommendations in the comments. As for new stuff, might I recommend Children of Bodom? One of my favs, ua-cam.com/video/-fvwIE1-ZIY/v-deo.html. The frontman's death was just announced today, so it seems appropriate. Definitely a departure from the more progressive stuff you have been doing, but Alexi was a phenomenal guitar player, and you cant really listen to those vocals as anything BUT an instrument hahaha! Best of luck to you!
Awesome reactions! would be awesome to hear your composer point of view about these other Gojira songs: Pray (live in Red Rocks) - Lowlands - The Gift Of Guilt (live Brixton Academy) - Shooting Star (live in BBC)- Global Warming (live in Studio)

This guy is getting off on the right track with these kinds of bands. Yes. Now do anything by Devin Townsend.
Frogs are nice!
Yeah Ziltoid the Omnicient for example, isn't there a track/skit where the character of Ziltoid also drinks a cup of coffee? That would get meta, so it's a nice from me
Devin referred to Gojira as one of the bands he listens to.
now go back and listen to it with reading the words .. so much meaning in their lyrics throughout all of their songs!!!! .. great review .. look forward to next! Love Gojira!
Now he can see the whaales
Wow, I just commented on a Jinjer video wishing for a Gojira react, and it's already here. Made my day!
This is a good song, but Gojira has some absolute master-fucking-pieces so you have to dig a bit more. My recomendation, mmm, The Gift of Guilt, or The Art of Dying
Sick review! Love all the insights you provide. I'd recommend Vacuity, also from Gojira. That song is absolutely wicked, heavy as all hell.
Check out Quo Vadis - Dream. The greatest instrumental song ever 🤘
Would rather some Martyr at this point.
For technicality check out the godfather of death metal Chuck Schuldiners (RIP) band Death. They were tech from the late 80's onward! Vocals are straight death metal. Musicianship is so crisp!! Fretless bass by Steve Di'Giorgio.
Album: Human from 1992
Song: Lack of Comprehension
Do it braddah do it!!
Just wanted to say I love your reactions and I am happy to indulge other projects you get up to but some of us "react crowd" people are WAY more likely to watch if it's a band we love, but we stick around if the channel is good and you got your own cool thing going on. Hope it evolves into a satisfying endeavor for you.
React to: Leprous - the sky is red
This is my first time listening to a Gojira song (least that I can remember) and just holy fuck this is amazing!! I am definitely going to be checking more of them out.
Thanks for the breakdown man, this is good stuff!
Third times a charm 😜
Oh yessss, thanks for doing Gojira. I could put up a whole list for gojira songs you should listen to. Heck, probably just listen to every song. But if you were to do another, maybe do Esoteric Surgery. This song is killer!
I honestly don't think this is the best specimen of Gojira for this kind of reaction. The Art of Dying is great, like others have suggested, Born In Winter is a favorite of mine but idk how complex the theory is.
Nice fix on the audio! Gojira is a beast of a band. Seem them multiple times and they always kill it.
👍 One of the top metal bands today. There's also by them The Heaviest Matter of the Universe: ua-cam.com/video/42p-G_h29yU/v-deo.html or Oroborus: ua-cam.com/video/FweDl4U5uzI/v-deo.html to name a couple greats.
Also the band Aviations with their song Outliers: ua-cam.com/video/XM9tq5cX8ow/v-deo.html
Also cool hat. 🤘
Really been enjoying your channel and your analysis. One of the biggest songs of the year came from a little known band that has Berklee students composing, have to recommend Aviations // Outliers
Geebz - I fell down the rabbit hole of reaction channels a few months back because I was curious if people noticed the nuance type things I did in the music I love. The journey has been funny, revealing and most of all fun. This is one of my favorite channels. Keep up the awesome work!!!! ps. I'd love to see a reaction to a favorite band of mine by the name Architects, the song Doomsday perhaps.
Thank you for doing this! We all really appreciate it.
Just wanted to drop by and say I'm glad I found your content. You're such a down to earth guy and I wish only the best for your UA-cam journey!
Hey old guy, here is the other old guy from Germany again. Thank you so much for picking another of my long time favorite bands. Too bad it was not the official video because the video is kick ass too. Keep up the excellent work \o/
Precise drums
Melodic patterns
Beautiful voice
Banger bridge with harmonies
I'm so overwhelmed...
There are SO many great songs from them. I HIGHLY suggest you react to more from them. I guarantee you won't regret it.
Love it! I think you would love the composition of The Art Of Dying, these French guys know what they're doing 🔥
Love Gojira 🤘. Incredible live too. For info they record and engineer their own music from their studio in New York.
I saw them live and it was spot on to the album version. The rhythm was so tight and their rest pauses are amazing. One of if not my favorite band I've ever seen live. Also the nicest people you'll meet.
You sir, just made my day!
Never apologize for pausing. If I wanted to listen to the song id put it on and listen. I and most others are here for your breakdown/opinion/analysis. Keep it up 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
i just found your channel and im already a huge fan!! i know nothing about fancy composer music stuff but im having fun finding new ways to enjoy bands i love :) hope to see more gojira in the future
Gojira is one of the main reasons i am proud to be french hahaha
Great vids and analysis dude i subscribe !
Man! 4:30 minutes in, I have to say I'm loving your comments. I just hit the subscribe!
This was a pretty cool video. I enjoy Gojira and it's interesting to hear a more technical analysis of their music. Keep it up man!
Awesome reactions! would be awesome to hear your composer point of view about these other Gojira songs: Pray (live in Red Rocks) - Lowlands - The Gift Of Guilt (live Brixton Academy) - Shooting Star (live in BBC)- Global Warming (live in Studio)
