SOOOOO STOKED!!! Hoping this will stay unblocked but the one I did on KING CRIMSON where they released the block then re-blocked it so fingers crossed!!!
You can say goodbye to that video friend, King Crimson are notorious blockers.
Good stuff dude
Serj Tankian is the singer of SOAD
They have a campaign for this new record to fundraise for the Amazon and they have a bunch of artists giving away gear and stuff to some people that donate
Try Clanadonia..Scottish drum and pipe group. Very amazing
Gojira donates all the proceeds from this song to an organization that helps different tribes in the Amazon...
And they are helping an auction to sell bunch of donated stuff from different musicians for the cause.
"helps" meaning they pocket all but 10% and claim it's because they need to pay their people that work for them
@@codyeakinsbradley most bands don't do anything even close to that, so not sure why you're ripping into them for it.
@@chickenumbre11a66 I'm ripping into non profits that leech off of good intentions
@@codyeakinsbradley Sick how it's true that a lot of Gojira's work will probably be pocketed by a corrupt organization, but you still gotta commend the shit out of them for giving a damn.
Gojira are taking it a step further with Project Amazonia, auctioning gear and collectables in an effort to provide healthcare and support to those who live within and help sustain the Amazonian rainforest.
They're easily one of the most vital metal acts today.
Justin Chancellor is among the people donating instruments for the cause, made me so happy to see his face on the Gojira page.
Sadly, and I would really really want to be less cynical about this (and what Gojira are doing is great, don't get me wrong), as long as Bolsonaro is going to be in charge in Brazil, nothing will fundamentally change. This guy is a complet wacko. Just listen to one of his speeches. Oh, and he also stole the elections and threw Lula in prison of false charges (who was actually doing things for the Amazonia), as if it was not enough.
@@bengagnon2894 As a brazilian, i'm very happy to see that people are paying atention to horrible political situation that we are facing right because of the far right government that sadly got elected at our last presidential election. Bolsonaro and his ministers, as Trump did in the US, everyday are trying to enforce their scorched earth politics at our country.
Right now he is trying everything to get the military forces under his command and start a dictatorship at our country before the next presidential election that will (maybe) happen next year... Is very difficult to be Brazilian right now, not only we are at the center of the covid-19 pandemic, but also have to struggle with a lunatic as president.

France has a part of the Amazonia on it's territory with Guyane, so it's not all about Brasil ;)
@@louisvivier1537 Brazil has 60% of the Amazon Forest, and is pretty much the only country that's devastating it in a huge scale (at least compared to its neighbors), so yeah it is. Even Gojira say so. Of course France gives importance to the matter (because of French Guiana and - I don't doubt it - economical matters), but when people talk about it, of course they are talking Brazilian government.

Gojira's main theme throughout their career has been environmental and spiritual consciousness.

I love that im hearing tribal throat singing more often these days
Have you ever tried Sepultura - Roots Bloody Roots?
That Mongolian band comes to mind
Hu
Yea guttural singing is so nice and metal growling is related to it. It fits well.
The HU, not to be confused with The Who
Amazonia!! This song reminds me of what Sepultura (who are from Brazil) did with their 1996 album 'Roots', incorporating indigenous sounds and patterns into multiple songs on that album, as well as calling attention to the plight of indigenous peoples of the Amazon.
I want Geebz to do Ratamahatta so bad!
And of course 'Kaiowas' from the 'Chaos A.D.' album.
ROOTS! this is exactly what i thought of the first time i heard this track. Great song and an even more important message. Thanks Geebz!!
Obligatory Fubanga maloca bocada comment
@@hogie23 Killing joke for me.
Enviromentalism has always been a very consistent theme in Gojira. What's funny for most Gojira fans is that they used to abstractly package their messages like most artist do, but with this single they just straight up tell it to your face that the Amazon is on fire and it's fucked up, let's do something about it
"Global warming"
"Toxic garbage island"
Im sorry but im gonna say they were always upfront about it.
@@MmeHyraelle I laughed. Man's got a point.
Clone would like to have a word lol
I can’t get enough of this track and this review.📈⚡️
Mr. Paik! Happy to see you here!
Boing boing boing beiong bong beeng
You’re right about Gojira being self produced. The lead singer, Joe Duplantier produced their last 3 albums (including this one), and was with Andy Wallace during the mix session of this album.
“There’s fire in the sky
You’re in the Amazon
The greatest miracle
Is burning to the ground”
This hits so hard.
Gojira are in a league of their own. They have taken on a lamb of god meets tool genre change and it's messing with everyone but we love it. You can't appreciate the fullness of this song without hearing the whole album and realizing the evolution that is gojira. I am glad to have been alive to witness it.
Gojira has lots of songs talking about environmental destruction. One of my favorite among those is "Toxic Garbage Island", about the immense pollution humans cause!
Plastic! Bag in the sea!
@@blocksize1130 Plastic! Bag in the sea!

now do "The Chant" also by Gojira, that's more soulcrushing IMO (video just released 2 hours ago)
GOJIRA has said that this track is a tribute of sorts to SEPULTURA. That being said I " believe " that is a berimbau ( the mouth harp sound) Max Cavaler of SEPULTURA ( and SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, NAILBOMB, KILL OR BE KILLED ) has been known to play one now and again and I believe it is fairly popular in Brazil. Amazonia!!
AWWWRIGHT 🤙🤙 Btw , 160 reactions in a handful of months is amazing!!! Thank you !!!
That doesn't sound like a berimbau. I'm brazilian and did quite a few years of capoeira lessons when I was a child. Berimbau was played there always.
That's more likely a mouth harp or a "berimbau de boca" as it is known around here. It's not the same instrument as a typical berimbau.
@@caiograciano7562 , that is why I said I "believe " , not I know!
@@larryhaug71 Sorry if I sounded aggressive or something. I was just clarifying.
@@caiograciano7562 no worries, my friend. After going back and listening to some SOULFLY, I can definitely hear the difference. Thanks for the knowledge . Btw, mad respect for capoeira!
The Amazon is my mother's back yard. This hits close to home, literally. There was no doubt in my mind this project would hit you the same way, a conscious being like yourself.
Great reaction as always. I'm glad we got to see it!

If you like the activism then, as a Hawaiian surfer, Toxic Garbage Island might resonate with you. In that case it might be worth while, as an exception ;), to take a look at the lyrics too.
I saw someone call Gojira Environmetal. Which is nice.
Should also checkout the song Blood and Salt, if I remember correct Devin Townsend and Frederik Thordendal collaborated with them on it
They comme from Ondres, it's a surf spot in France, and during their childhood they had to deal with the human wastes in the ocean, that built their environmental conscience.
This is the power of Gojira that we all love. Even without the video the emotion of the music cuts through so beautifully and heads straight for, as you say "center". It's empowering and eye opening. Thank you as always. You're breakdown's really are fantastic! Amazonia!!
Gojira has been on point with their videos lately. They are seriously committed to getting our attention on very important issues.
"The greatest miracle is burning to the ground." Great song with a great message...Let's hope it stays unblocked!
You asked if any of the band members works with the sound engineering of the records, this is what Joe Duplantier said about their second album on Spotify's Metal Talks in 2016:
"We did our second record ourselves. At home. We bought some gear, we took a loan at the bank. [...] We bought a console, Pro Tools, some mics, renovated the garage and created our own studio in France. And we recorded our second album, I remember the first day when we gathered to record, we were reading the manual, how it works, the Pro Tools and how to plug everything, and that's in 2002. We did this album, The Link, struggled a lot to record and to mix, but we did it. So that's why the sound is so weird, some people are like 'oh, it's interesting' but for us it was like, we didnt' really achieve the goal we had in mind"
Nowadays, Gojira has their own studio in New York, so they probably work very closely with the engineer. Maybe you should listen to a song from this The Link album to hear how it sounds. I recommend "Remembrance" ;)
Oh cool, I never dove in to their process before. That's really interesting and inspiring information. :)
No wonder they are so tight when they've been putting this much effort in from the beginning.
Thanks for sharing :)
this! good to see some love for The Link, remembrance is top 5!
I can’t get through the link. It’s cool but I love the link alive way more.
I really recommend their song Global Warming, the live studio performance
Their best video ever. So, so good.
Woohoo glad this is back. Sensible heads prevailed.
Flexing the string beyond the nut to accentuate the mouth harp is a really nice touch.
This song speaks to my soul. It makes me feel like "action" needs to be taken, I always used to listen it for my workouts, seeing the music video is kinda heartbreaking...
This is almost a Sepultura Song from the 90’s. Roots from Sepultura would be a sick song or Rattamahatha.
Amazonia!! Love it as always!
Really? Dude idk this song just isn’t it to me. I think into the storm and Born for one thing are okay. But, nothing yet on that album is like omg yes!

@@ignaciojauregui7423 yeah dude that’s what I think! They haft to atleast have one song on the album that is amazing right? They haft to
The band has mentioned that musically, this song is a tribute to Sepultura
I love Gojira, I love you reacting to them and praising the bassist. Many undermine his talent because it's not as obvious or flashy as the the lead Singer or Drummer. AMAZONIA!!
Not only is Gojira raising awareness with this track, they are also raising money for charity by auctioning instruments and other memorabilia from many popular musicians. They are really trying to make a difference, and it's awesome.
AMAZONIA!!! Awwwright!
Great vid! This new one is growing on me. Your immediate appreciation for the droning, tribal, throat-singing element of this tune suggests to me that you need to check out their song Art of Dying, as soon as possible. Monstrous, final boss Gojira tune
Joe said this song is an hommage to Sepultura. So, could be interrsting for you to decompose some Sepultura (which is a major metal band), espacially some "roots" song, like roots bloody roots for example.
What a track!! *heart broken* Gojira are THE BEST!
"Gojira - The Chant" would be awesone for a video :) great work, thanks for doing this
Love you, bro. Thanks for doing what you do.

Before this album was announced I joked to my friend that Gojira’s next song was gonna be called “amazon on burn.”
This is just so powerful, from the lyrics, musicianship, and imagery. Just so powerful!

Amazonia!! Loved seeing your reaction, first time watching a video by you and I enjoyed the intensity of your listening. I understand it's a professional thing, but all the while, I think you truly show respect and reverence to the music by your dedication.
Also, Gojira climbed straight up into my top 5 favourite bands forever after only hearing the 4 songs they've released for the new album so far ♥️
Perfect elaboration on a perfect song.. You really understand, feel and know music... Cheers
I adore that you actually have VALUE in your content. Other react videos are generally completely vacant view grabs.
Thank you!
Appreciate the technical advice naught from years of expertise and experience that you share with the community. Thank you
The paradox of the heartbreaking and unnerving imagery vs the reality that everything from the bands equipment to the electricity used to record it is part and parcel of the mindset that is exploiting the Amazon...there is no easy way to resolve or reconcile...here's to hoping that the efforts of the band have positive results....great song great breakdown of its components....
Amazonia!!
great video, man.
Amazonia!! Yep still here. Best one yet for me Geebz.
Amazonia!! What a great Video, both , gojira and your breakdown. It touched me emotionally very deep. Thank you. Awwwwright.
I love watching/listening to you break down the music and pay respects to the musicianship. Its also cool to you sort of "getting into" what you're hearing. There's not much else that tickles a metalheads heart than turning someone onto metal or introducing someone a new song and them liking it.
Early Sepultura vibe at the start. So good.
Amazonia!! Great band, amazing reactions!
Amazonia!!
I just love your reviews! The human side of the song, plus the intensity of the video really touches us in the center of our soul. Specially for Brazilian’s like me.
That kind of fight your generation fought so hard to present to the world during the 80’s and 90’s can’t be forgotten. And the music is a powerful toll to promote it.
Keep tour good work with your awesome reviews!
By the way, I’ll pay more attention to the bass lines next time I listen to the song (which is now).
In the outro of the song one thing that I hear and really like is the snare drum, if you listen closely you can hear the drummer alternates from hitting the snare and, I believe, hitting the snare and rim causing a "POP", then a "POP" with a metallic echo, could be done with effects also, but either way it's a little hook at the end of the song for me. Awesome video!
Amazonia!! great dive in and deconstruction.
'"The Chant" is another really emotional song from Gojira's new album- Fortitude. Would love to see your take on it.
AMAZONIA!! Such an epic song glad you got it unblocked - at least long enough for some of us to see it!🤙🏻🤙🏻
Gojira are massively into environmental activism. There’s many songs of theirs which support that. They have a way of writing lyrics which are super poetic, but they’re put with aggressive sounding instruments and it works perfectly. They certainly get their message across
Man, I really fucking appreciate you doing this video and voicing your thoughts on the subject matter as well as the music.
AMAZONIA!! I'm really glad to see that you've started to dig into Gojira - I really hope you keep them in your regular rotation of decomposition. The amazing messages they share through their music could NOT be exposed enough.
If you're enjoying Gojira, then you might also enjoy Sepultura. They're a Brazilian metal band who also wish to share many important social and cultural themes through their music. "Territory" will give you a similar experience to Amazonia, with a fitting theme from the music video and weight of the music, if you're interested. Thanks for the awesome video Geebz!
