The most impressive part of this song is that Mario finally found a shirt
They wouldn't let him in the museum otherwise
I, personally, have been truly sleeping on these guys. They are phenomenal.
Not inaccurate
no shirt no shoes no metal
More like he's finally enough 💸 💸 to afford a t-shirt
Whenever you come back around to listening to Gojira you have to hear the songs "Vacuity" and "The Art of Dying"
Flying whales
Seconding The Art of Dying. I think he'll really appreciate the arrangement
The Art Of Dying live at Vielles Charreau. Let’s get it.
"Space Time" is their best song, It was very earlier in their career, and it still blows everyone away today!!!!!
@@thetamparayguy2755 I couldn't possibly argue that it's not a great song cause I'd be wrong and a liar, but with a band like Gojira it's nearly impossible to claim anything to be their "best" song. They've done so much unique and interesting stuff through their career and grown along the way so I don't know if anything can be considered their "best." Though everybody can easily have their favorite that may change dramatically from one person to the next. And honestly that's one this I love about Gojira. Everybody gets something different out of them. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
I was waiting for Flying Whales, but gojira is gojira
Me too - and agreed. Any Gojira track is better than no Gojira track. 🤘🏻
The are of dying is such a cool track, it really explores some unique rhythms and slowly but surely evolves into a more melodically approach to songwriting. I think you’d like it ✌️
I JUST REALIZED HE HASNT DONE IT YET holy moly pls geebz that's most certainly in the top 3 Gojira tracks for like everyone
🤘
Awwwright!! Double shot of Gojira with Flying whales. I feel like a broken record lol
Esoteric surgery is insane that should definitely be the next one
"Suspended floating in empty spaces"
YOU HAVE THE POWER TO HEAL YOURSELF!
"Only thing they fear is you" OST - Mick Gordon
Genre - Anger
Sub-Genre - Rip & Tear
One day he's gonna do it man. and on that day, he'll be a changed man.
Anything Mick Gordon really
That's a boring ass song
It's not bad. But what the fuck do you want him to say? That it's brutal? It's fucking boring
Please do 'The Art of Dying' by Gojira, it's a MUST for a channel like this!
"The silver chord" is very short, but it really shows how well they can turn a simple riff into something incredible.
I've listened for that on repeat for hours. Never get tired of it.
8:19 was all of us
I fucking Love Gojira for this kinda shit. Rushing head over feet into something at at first listen sounds like such a clusterfuck of a riff, but the more you listen, the more you get it.
You should try "From the Sky". It doesn't get mentioned often, but it's one of their best songs and my personal fav.
Such an amazing track. I agree that it doesn't get mentioned very often. Great suggestion.
World to Come aswell
Or the evolution of that song, Mouth Of Kala.
As well as "From the Sky" by Protest the Hero! Both are great tracks!
@@immaculatetoilet how
U gotta do The Art of Dying, u won't regret it!
Something I realized with this song is Gojira really became masters of their craft.
AWWWRIGHT!!! Another great analysis!
The Art of Dying is another great track from Gojira.
You might really enjoy the Gojira Live at Pol’and’rock festival 2018. The after production is about as good as it gets. The band did their part perfectly and the engineers did theirs too. The crowd is unbelievably energetic throughout.
Rock on!
Fuck yesss! This is hands down my favorite band and this song is incredible. They've always been amazing, but they've really found their style and sound in recent years and this song is a perfect example of that. I strongly recommend The Art of Dying if/when you return to Gojira later.
Edit: Awwwright!!
Yeah! Awwwright!! Art of Dying is a intense song, I think the backstory of the Brother's mother dying right before writing the album and it being written in honor of her death is important to the context of that song in particular. That whole album has the feeling of 10,000 Days, but heavier. Such realization and coming to terms with mortality and letting go. I'm a sucker for that kind of depth, I get chills.
@@shelbybilicki You're mistaken on the when The Art of Dying was written. The album you are thinking of in which was written about their mother was "Magma". The Art of Dying is from The Way of All Flesh, one written before L'efant Sauvage.
@@soul146 You are right, I was mistaken, I thought it was off of Magma for some reason. I think I may have confused it with Low Lands or another song off that album. It's still a great song but Magma slaps as an album. Thanks for correcting me
Gojira is such a sick creative band, can't go wrong with any of their tracks. The singer/guitarist and drummer are actually brothers from France and continue to bring fresh new metal music to the scene.
Gotta mention Cult of Luna again, really really want to hear anyone react to them, their music is so atmospheric and haunting, I absolutely love it. It's super heavy at times and beautifully sweet at others, every song is journey in an album that is a complete adventure. Anything off their Salvation, Somewhere Along The Highway, Vertikal or A Dawn To Fear albums are masterpieces.
Art of Dying live at Brixton Academy in London. Phenomenal track
They are a spiritual experience. Dive deep into Gojira the same you did Tool. You will not be disappointed. Where Dragons Dwell Live or The Art of Dying. Go deep bro! Keep a
Up the awesome Jams. Mahalo!
Gojira: The Art of Dying - is a must
Gojira - Oroborus
Aviations - Outliers (Retrospect)
🤘
Yessirrrr
Yes Gojira! Awesome song. Bands from France FYI, 😉 wicked stuff
I liked the first long talking break you did into the music, where you discussed the ins and outs of what goes into composing / arranging / mixing decisions. I feel a bit guilty watching reaction videos because they're based on other creators' content, but having the reacting person give unique and professional input is what makes it worth watching for me.
I love how this song highlights the bass; Jean-Michel really shines here. Nice to focus on it so much in the reaction.
Mario's work on the ride bell on this song is top notch.
You’re going to force me to be really direct Geebz! 🤣
Architects - Goliath
Tool - The Grudge
Wooooop, glad you spotted this! 😁
Awesome, keep the reactions coming! (Starting with the two above 😅)
yesss! Gojira is so good. I know you wanna get through your list and please everyone but more metal please!
Been on this one hard lately. Love seeing these breakdowns. Keep em coming!
Yesss so happy to hear you review this! I’ve had this song on repeat lately, especially in the gym
Love your analysis! Thank you!
Duuuuuude thanks for doing this song! I had this on repeat for a whole day 😂 so good!!! We love you
Awwwright!! - and I love this video... the location, lighting, cinematography, editing, vfx - is on fire.
LOVE the intro man!
Keep up the great work Geebz. You bring so much to the table man, I've learned alot watching your videos.
AWWWRIGHT!! 🤙
Please do The Art of Dying, such a great song.
I love your channel dude. I like how your face gets almost pained when it gets really good. Thanks!!
GOJIRA SAYS: OK GUYS WE ARE GOING TO BREAKDOWN OUR BREAKDOWNS!!
That intro xD
I love it !!
Long time fan, and seeing the new intro is awesome. I love that your videos are longer too.
Keep it up with the A+ content. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Cheers!
Awwwight!! Love ❤️ Gojira , bro 60% of the songs you pick are in my soundtrack of my life. And glad to have ya back , missed you last week lol
You're so chill man. It's great. It makes my day a little better just having you in it briefly through these videos. Cheers.
I've been watching you for a few months now and you're amazing and should be proud of everything you do. You help us pure listeners gain more knowledge in the breakdowns you do.. very much appreciated! Nice work Geebz!
AWWWRIGHT!!
(Thanks, Geebzjira)
I cant wait for this album, such a jam!
I dig the idea of setting up your keyboard to show us examples of chords, intervals, all that. Love the vids, bruddha. Thank you.
AWWWRIGHT!! Thanks for this, it was a nice surprise to hear your breakdown/reaction to a song that's new for all of us, and Gojira no less! And, Happy Paddy's Day from a fan in Ireland :)
Awwwright!!
(I do like the logo)
First time hearing this song its amazing. That intro is one of the best Iv heard in a while.
awwwright!! Haha. Love your videos man. Horrendous - The Stranger is one of my fav tracks, would love to see a vid on it, you inspire me a lot with all you do
ALL-RIGHT…great content
as soon as you do a Gojira or Deftones video i’m already thumbing up and watching. always love watching the reactions and you’re break downs!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Thanks for all the time and thought energy it takes to do these videos. Exposes me to new bands and music, and in a different way. I'd suggested doing some Haken and Leprous, and then discovered you already visited them, so appreciated. More of the same please. Also maybe some Riverside or Pineapple Thief or Pattern Seeking Animals when you get around to it.
awwwright!! Good stuff
Awesome video as always . Gojira is one of my fav metal bands for sure. Elder- the falling veil. Please!
Awwwright!! Glad you revisited Gojira! Their whole catalog is impressive as hell!! Still hoping to hear you review Means End "Magnanimous"!! Thanks for all you do man!!
love the new intro
I really appreciate what you said about musicians listening, as someone who is slightly more versed in music theory I think you always provide a simple yet great analysis that everyone can take something from.
For me I also really enjoy your observations about production and engineering, because that's something I'm interested in but don't know that much about. I know their are multiple ways to produce sounds in post and your insights are great! I always come away really learning or understanding a lot from that.
Something else I love about this channel, I never heard any of this band's songs, so now I am getting introduced to Something and I like it
Great review of Gojira's latest masterpiece! Gojira is one of those bands that I was always aware of but never listened to up until about a year ago. I know, but better late than never!! One of my personal favs is the extended version of "Pray" live at Red Rocks! Can't wait until we all can go to live shows again. I'd love to see these guys on stage!
Love how u singled out and gave the bass player some love. Bass players typically don’t get much love. You da man.
This band are sooooo good. I saw them at Hellfest 2019 and they blew everyone away.
They have just dropped a new track, Amazonia, about an hour ago. Well worth a listen.
AWWWRIGHT buddy! I have learned to search more thoroughly before suggesting, lots of great ideas have already been shared. Well done metal community 👏
love the shirt
Loved the vid, entertaining as always. It would be cool to see you react to their song, The Art of Dying!
Thanks Geebz, mad respect for the diversity in the channel
Oh Geebz, I'm always anxious to see what bands/songs you will review each day....another amazing one. I just watched this video last week, excellent video and song. I'm supposed to see them later this year with Deftones, (if concerts return this year). That will be an epic show.
My request for the day is: Holy Fawn "Blood Pact". 💕
Gojira's rhythmic section is amazing
Awwwright!! Y'know, I've heard a lot of people compare Gojira and Meshuggah and as a listener I hadn't really made that connection until this track. Whenever you come back to Gojira you might want to try a track from their Mars to Sirius album which a lot consider their breakthrough and compare with their new stuff. Thanks for the vid!
Awwwright! Don't know much about Gojira, but this one sounds great!
the end is a spine tingler for me
gojira never disappoint! awwwright!!
I love seeing how people who really feel music react to a song.
Gojira - in the forest. an amazing underrated song of theirs that has so much to offer!
BackBone and Wolf Down the Earth.
My personal Gojira favorites
Awwwright!! Just found your channel and have been catching up on some of these breakdowns. I'm a musician but I've really appreciated the way you're approaching these videos for more casual listeners, but I'm still getting plenty of new insights. Thank you!
Many of the songs you've done so far have been pretty important in the development of my soundtrack of life. I hope I can share some suggestions for other songs that might broaden your reach, but still be musically adjacent. (Though, something like a "Why Shostakovich Melts Your Face" would be amazing too!)
Ayreon - Day Eight: School
Devin Townsend - Planet Smasher
Mouse On The Keys - Reflexion
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Lucy Fears The Morning Star
Sleep - Dragonaut
Clutch - Electric Worry
Gorod - Transcendence
I think that's a good fun list anyhow. Thank you!
Awwwright!!!
Finally dropped a sub and have to throw it out again, Slugdge is a great technical metal band to get into. I would recommend War Squids for something heavy, Suffering Quahog for something soft, Crop Killer for some bass work, Salt Thrower for something emotional , or The Spectral Burrows for some throat singing. Longer tracks and very dirty vocals but it's well worth the experience.
You have the best intro i have ever seen
Chevelle - So Long, Mother Earth
Hello, it`s nice to see another Gojira video. These guys are really really so good. They are conceptual. They have a new song that came out a few days ago called Into the storm. I have it on repeat for a few days now, and I just can't understand why do they make those 5-minute songs so short ..
AWWWRIGHT! Loves me some Gojira!
I love your videos and approach to reacting/dissecting these songs.
Here are some recommendations to check out:
Agent Fresco - See Hell
Leprous - Down
VOLA - Gutter Moon
Soen - Penance
Haken - The Architect
Great reaction, as always. Just watched your Leprous reaction as well and since some of Leprous' members used to be in a backing band for a musician called Ihsahn, I would like to recommand his song Celestial Darkness.
or even Emperor
11k views, 1.2k upvotes, 0 downvotes. Yup checks out, another great reaction and dissection as usual.
Awwwright!! Next time you're feeling like Gojira, The Art of Dying is gonna give you one hell of a ride. Also hoping Dark Tranquillity - Iridium makes the list. Cheers!
Awwwright!! I agree with other people, try The Art of Dying and maybe Remembrance (the live version from 2003 I think is crazy! The live is called The Link Alive). Thank you for your videos, always a pleasure to watch ! Cheers from France !
Grind is the last track on Fortitude and is probably my favorite from it. The outro is one of Gojira's best!
Vitalism Pagan Pt.2 awesome song. Instrumental band from Brazil. Keep up the good works! Aloha
The Art of Dying and Explosia are two of my favorites. Exceptional songs by one of the greatest bands ever.
I like that you're looping back to Gojira. About time to loop back to Protest the Hero and their song "Soliloquy" any time soon? ;)
Awwwright!! I learned about intervals today. Try Helmet. They make great use of empty space. One good song is Unsung.
awwwright!! ah.. a fav.. love the French environmentalists' Gojira! thanks geebz! be well! \m/
This one stands right up with their best. I love the Slayer-ish break the end each verse!
Gojira - "The Art of Dying" especially that intro 45 count section is awesome and pure musicianship.
Nine Inch Nails - "Piggy" is another great drum performance specially the live versions
14:36 that would be really cool, man! I know this is not the channel for teaching stuff, but a little sneak-peeks into theory and composition, maybe? And I know some people here to hear your opinions as a composer. A little bit of in-depth thoughts share is always good in my opinion
Would love to see you reacting to Gojira - Where Dragons Dwell (Live at Hellfest 2013)
Absolutely amazing performance from them
Been waiting for you to get back to Gojira! Awwright!
Quick reminder these guys are French, the band members are two brothers Joe (vocals, guitar) Mario (drums) and their friends Jean Michel (bass) and Christian (guitar).
What I love the most about them is their energy, especially in their live performances.
Also, I heard in an interview that they often will write songs stating with Mario's drum parts, like "the art of dying" which you have got to listen to, or "heaviest matter of the universe" , both fan favourites. He's trained in Jazz style which explains some of the unusual structures they use.
Have a look at some live stuff if you have time, the Red Rocks extended version of "Pray" is out on their official page with good sound quality.
Awwright!
The Art of Dying PLEASE! So many layers to that song
The Art of Dying has an amazing intro, middle, and outro, and it's just an amazing song
Glad you picked up on that tempo change on the ending riff there. The odd riff after the chorus has some dotted eight notes paired with sixteenths I think, I’m still trying to figure it out.
This Song really got me, I'm an oldtime fan of Gojira, and this made me think they might just release their masterpiece. Interesting points you bring up about their style, because zhey seem to be pretty unique in the world of extreme Metal by doing so "little".
Still suggesting:
The Faceless - Autotheist Movement 1-3
Awwwright!!
i still haven't get enough trust for you to sub, but i love you for this one statement, with paraphrase 'i count a vocalist as an instrument'. no one can't understand this in my close music fellowship...
