Great choice! Flying Whales, while being a staple song by Gojira, really shows their true sound and talent. A must listen for anyone getting into Gojira.
The album version is definitely the way to go IMO, but man is it a great song. It's what sold me on Gojira.

Gojira have a phenomenal way of using melody and ambience in their songs. Even the full on heavy stuff like In the Wilderness and Art Of Dying. They're 10/10 and just have a way of writing killer songs

Great reaction, but to fully appreciate Gojira you need to see a live from them "the gift of guilt" at brixton is one of my favorite. An other band i'm pretty sure blow you away is Jinjer "just another" , "Pisces" or "Teacher, teacher"

Same! Seeing them my 4th time at the Brixton Academy on the 30th. I'm over the moon excited. Seeing Rammstein the night before in Paris and I'm interested in which live show will give me more of a buzz. Different genres and vibes, but both bands that absolutely tear up a crowd.
You should totally react to Opeth, one of these five: Bleak ( live at the roundhose tapes. Very important ) , The Leper Affinity, Ghost of Perdition ( also live at the roundhouse tapes ), Dirge for November ( live at royal albert hall ) or Windowpane. Such amazing songs. Another great prog band to react to is Ne Obliviscaris-and plague flowers the kaleidoscope live in Denver. They are prog, black,death,classical but they have a unique sound amazing compositions with depth and emotion that you will greatly enjoy.
That song is also being studied as part of the curriculum at the Sydney Conservatorium Of Music.
You should react to Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars Live at Sonic Pump Studios! After that, probably Time or Loneliness by the same band! Gojira is awesome btw

Absolutely - Nightwish fans are *almost* as rabid as Jinjer fans. ;) Nightwish being an established band has more fans, but the Jinjer bump will be significant too. There is some overlap since Floor from Nightwish and Tatiana from Jinjer are both such amazing metal goddesses, just with very different styes.

What an intelligent analysis. A lot of "react" style videos tend to fail to deliver because the "reactors" aren't bringing enough to the table themselves, but you two are bringing a real analysis and a real reason to see what you two think instead of just watching the original video. Good work.

Haven't listened to much Gojira.. mainly what people react to.. been liking what I am hearing from them though.. Might wind up buying one of their albums for my mp3 player so can listen to it at work. The only things holding me back at this point is limited cash and.. well.. bills lol.

Since I discovered them, Gojira has rapidly become one of my favorite bands. They are so unique and every song has so much texture and interesting parts. Hope you dive deeper into their discography. There's a lot of song recommendations that I'm sure you will get from other comments but two not so popular but still great songs from them are Backbone and Esoteric Surgery, you should not miss them. I'm a huge Jinjer nerd used to giving info dumps, but I'm really looking forward to taking a step back and seeing what you two have to say. :) Incidentally, they credit Gojira as a major influence on their music.
Joe Duplantier ( the lead singer ) spent months living alone in a forest with no electricity or running water to feel this connection we lost with mother nature , his brother Mario ( the drummer ) recalls meeting sometime during that period and finding him covered with mud - Joe came back and his relation to nature and human beings had changed forever - like he often says when the band plays "l'enfant sauvage" live : "we're all a bunch of animals"

As usual I love Juliettes analysis, which is so much deeper than you find by girls her age. Also love the way you embrace the music. As a hip-hop girl I wondered if the transition to gojira might be too steep? The band is known for its deep lyrics, technique, transitions and bone crushing energy. A thinking mans metal?

You should definitely react to King Diamond's Halloween. Awesome traditional heavy metal, and the lead singer has a vocal range of 5 octaves, very talented!
That girl is badass! She's amazingly smart for a teenager (I don't know how old she is but I guess probably 15/16). She has a lot of common knowledge and a very deep understanding of the music they reacted to despite of the fact that she usually doesn't listen to those genres. But obviously her dad is a very cool person, too so kudos to him for raising his children right. That's a pretty new reaction channel but already one of my favorite ones on UA-cam.

Ralf Scheepers is a great vocalist with amazing vocal range. He has a relatively high-pitched tenor-esque singing voice, although it is his baritone lows which give him a near 4 octave range in the modal register. He is also a vocal coach.

There are more artists like this, but this is a good example of people who found something awesome inbetween Rap- (or Trap-)music and Heavy Metal. A genre hard to pinpoint, but often called Trap-metal of Ragecore. I'm really curious what you think about this, since it kinda marries both of your music styles, while being dark and vigorous.

Good few examples of bands to educate your hip-hop head to a different kind of metal, that is in a world of metal music. Not so known bands in USA since they are finnish, european. Many reacts tho to these bands and all of who have reacted to them, got some good views.
You must do more Gojira, best modern progressive/death metal band. But honestly every Gojira fan knows Gojira is at another level of metal.
