Kidney transplant is so much harder on the DONOR too. That's definitely not a decision to take lightly. My aunt donated a kidney to her best friend and friend bounced back and my aunt had a loooooong recovery but she was fully consenting and willing to accept those risks

Plus, foreign countries have phone service. She could have recharged her phone or borrowed a phone. I would have left without a thought. I would be worried the whole time and wouldn’t have slept well, but come on. I bet she was just pissed bc she missed her flight.

My friend and I were in Germany together and she decided to get off the train at the last second, so the doors ended up closing in my face (they don’t open back up like in NYC). I had to get off at the next stop blocks down the road.
I assumed she would have waited for me or tried walking in the direction of the train to meet me. She didn’t. She just walked back herself and thought nothing of it. When I didn’t even know the address of the B&B. Luckily, I was able to figure out where it was by searching for a specific restaurant that was down the street. But it was sundown and getting dark, alone in a foreign country.
I was really pissed at her because she didn’t even apologize when I got back. She saw me getting stuck and I even pointed in the direction of the train to try to tell her to follow. Idk. I just know I would have followed the train to make sure she was safe and not alone.

For the second one. I had this happen to me. It was me and 2 other friends. We were in Arizona for 4 days and after going out the girls I was with would stay with guys that they would meet. I would always Uber back to the hotel alone. The last night there I told the girls we all needed to be at the hotel at 2am the latest as our flight was at 5am. We were packed and ready to go. One of the girls decided to stay at the guys house again. We called several times and no answer. Told the front desk that our friend would be back for her luggage and gave them our key. Friend missed that flight but ended up being able to meet us at the airport at the next layover. She was mad that we left her. I was mad that we all agreed on something and she fell through with the plan and then expected us to miss our flight because she was being irresponsible.

As a kidney donor this struck a cord with me. The choice is always yours. It is a gift you are giving. Most transplant centers will cover and take the blame if you decide privately that you cannot donate. They will says something medically came up. The story that you tell I am 100% sure that the center would not have let her donate because they look at your lifestyle and the psychology. You also need a primary caregiver. To determine if I could donate, I have to go through interviews with nephrology, surgeon, psychologist, social workers, primary care, and your advocate. They want to make sure your life is not impacted long term. The pre-tests are A LOT! Recovery is 6-8 weeks plus a commitment for testing every 6 months for the rest of your life.

Omg so refreshing to hear someone else be like weirded out by cemeteries in the sense of it’s such a waste of land/open space when you could literally give back to the environment by becoming a tree or like Morgan said a coral reef/jewelry

But if you were a tree, then someone will come along and cut you down to make room for a housing development. I would rather see a cemetery than another subdivision of homes or another strip mall! The one thing that bugs the crap out of me is when people come along and see an empty plot of land and think I have to figure out a way to make money off it. They can’t stand seeing empty land not being used for something.

With the heirloom ring I can completely understand why she would want to keep it until she died. Its her connection to her dead husband and means alot.
But to be buried with it? That's selfish. The ring isn't going to do anything for when your dead. And if you believe in heaven then you'll be with your 1st husband again anyway.
Have it be passed down to your son after you die. If he's already married with kids at that point he can give it to his kids when they marry. She's the arsehole.

    • @klaythoring1326
      @klaythoring1326 Рік тому +5

She’s missing the point that heirlooms don’t really belong to you, they are given to you for a time and are then passed on. Keeping it while she’s alive seems reasonable; selfish, but reasonable…to be buried with it defies the love that was intended to be passed along.

With the heirloom story- it wasn’t even her heirloom to keep. She needs to pass it down- if it was her family’s heirloom I would say she has every right to keep it for whatever reason. But it was HIS family’s heirloom, which mean the choice isn’t hers to make, in my opinion.

I don’t know if anyone else has commented this but re: feeling like your heart is beating really fast at the dentist or for oral surgery - you likely were likely given a numbing agent containing epinephrine, otherwise known as adrenaline. Some people are sensitive to it and it can make you feel shaky with a racing heart. I thought I was really anxious and maybe having a panic attack when I noticed it first. Just tell your dentist/oral surgeon you are sensitive and they will give you an alternative! I can’t imagine having that and also laughing gas, that doesn’t sound like a good time 🤢

Selena Gomez and friend who donated her kidney Francia Raisa did an interview discussing what happened. Long story short Francia lived with Selena Gomez for some time and realized Selena was struggling with easy every day tasks and finally confessed to her about her health issues and Francia without a doubt decided she would get tested to see if she was a match and indeed she was. They are still friends and just because people don’t hang out as much doesn’t mean they still do not care. Intentions were always good.

in that one part where they're talking about being buried w things, it made me think about my grandmas funeral. basically she was a big fan of an artist and had bought a t shirt with them on it. when she died of cancer the plan was to bury her in that shirt with her favorite jeans that way shed be "happy in her favorite clothes even in death" they were also going to bury her in some of her favorite jewelry. the issue being that someone(not sure if it was a family friend or one of their neighbors) went through her things and stole those clothes and some of her jewelry. they chose a different outfit and buried her in what was left of her jewelry, but later on the same person that stole her stuff, was seen wearing it around the neighborhood, and put up a fight when confronted about it. this happened before i was even born, my grandma died when my mom was 15, and shes 40 now, but that section of the video brought back the memory of my family telling me the story.

I needed a kindey transplant at age 16. People got tested but no one was a match or were in poor health conditions. When people like my teachers offered to give me theirs I told them not to go get tested because I felt way too guilty taking anyone's kindey. UNOS called and I got a kindey from a deceased person at age 18. I don't think she is the asshole, but if my husband needed a kindey it would be so gut wrenching and I'd be trying harder to get him that kindey. Dialysis 3 times a week for 4 hours and lots of surgeries and knowing you might die soon and feeling terrible all the time. I wouldn't be handle seeing someone I love go through that I went through it's so hard. And especially knowing the average adult has to wait on the transplant list for over 5 years. 5 years of hell, I was lucky I was a minor so I only had to wait 3 years. So she isn't the asshole but I do feel for her friend and understand where she is coming from. But if it was me I still don't think I would cut her off she needs ro understand where other people are coming from.

    1. NTA. Even if it's a small chance risking leaving your kids that's still a very real , very scary proposition.
    2. NTA. She's a grown woman and the poster tried to get her to leave with her.
    3. NTA. However I do think based on context clues that the friend isn't that upset.
    4. YTA. That ring is a family heirloom and he has rights to it. If his mother had kept the ring she wouldn't even have it now anyway.
    5. NTA. It would be one thing if they were like broke college students and you insisted on an expensive restaurant. They can pay their way.
    6. NTA. The audacity of this woman after cheating on her partner to even message her much less ask for the gift back.

Disagreed with so much the lady in the white top (sorry I’m new here) said
    A) imagine your best friend who happens to be a rich celebrity takes your kidney and then phases you out of their life. How can you assume this can be handled privately, celebrities are not easy to casually reach especially if they’re actively avoiding you? Obvs if this is not true the donor is the a-hole.
    B) the friend has no right to be angry at all or ‘take time’. A best friend owes you nothing and the friend not giving her kidney isn’t her not ‘being there’, she considered it carefully which is more than a bad friend would do. Who wants to be friends with someone like that???

Hey I know you might now be checking this, but as you're discussing the kidney stuff, I want you to know that's not how the transplant process works. I have followed the Selena story closely since I have a deep connection to it and have admired Selena for years. I had to leave my college class because I cried when the original story broke. I've had 2 kidney transplants and I'm a little younger than Selena, the doctor would not tell the person getting the donation anything before the doner knew (I had a lot of family and friends get tested.), it goes against the patient/doctor confidentiality agreement and HIPPA. The issue between the two was Selena was drinking post-transplant, which you're allowed to just not to an excessive amount- I personally drink wine at least 2/3 times a week and am 5 years post-transplant.
Also, I know you did not mean any harm by your jokes about The Weeknd/Selena transplant but as someone who's had 2 transplants and has been bullied for it, I find it a bit distasteful. I joke about my own healthy pretty frequently, but as someone who's been bullied and lived my entire life with this situation please be careful when joking about it.
I'm enjoying your video but I wanted to educate you a little since I am someone who's been on the receiving side of a transplant and has spent all 24 years of my life chronically ill from having a transplant/ the changes it makes to your everyday life.
    Hope you're doing good,
    Grace

    • @graceglo6638
      @graceglo6638 3 роки тому +2

about your questions on the process, it is life/death your kidney gets rid of the toxins in your body and if that builds up you can die. Dialysis is the next step if you can't get a donor right away, and as someone who's done it for 5 years, I'm still dealing with the psychological trauma of it all. It's also really hard on your body and changes the way you live your life, you're living off a machine. You can only get a donation from someone with your blood type and if you have certain antibodies you can't get a certain part of the populations of that blood type's organs.
The friend shouldn't have pressured her at all, I had a really hard time asking anyone to do it, it's a big ask it's hard on your body.Like the type comment said they're very picky on who they do/ do not let be a donor, age, weight, family situation, mental health state, ext are all looked at. I also get being that desperate, I've been there personally, I did everything I could to get a kidney, I had a facebook page, but I would never have pressured anyone, I always was like...ya sure pls don't feel like you have to do this for me. It's a shitty situation over all.

When my best friend died, her parents sent (not very legal, but it was too far to drive them) some of the ashes to a glass artist that does glass sculptures, to which you can add color in the centre and some ashes. They had one made for the mom, dad and brother. It was beautiful to see how they had turned the top of a high commode into a memorial with pictures, the sculptures, her religious necklace (sorry, English isn't my first language and I can't find the right word) and more. I edited her in a picture of me at the lake (a place she loved and wanted to one day see in person but her living in Canada and me in Switzerland, we never got to do it). I took a picture from her if where she was smiling so hard and looked extremely happy. I'm glad I got to out the picture on the memorial, means a lot.
I would love to have that done with a bit of my ashes and have the rest turned into a tree! She and I even talked about it when I visited her, leaving her 10 days before she passed.
In my opinion, the mother is selfish to keep an heirloom ring that comes from her husband's family. If it was hers, I could understand (not necessarily agree, but understand). If her husband had not died, she would have probably given him the ring. Trust me I get the whole "it's so meaningful" part but she has to remember that her son lost his dad, too. When my dad passed, my mom gave me her wedding band (they were divorced but it was very sentimental to her) and we had them turned into a necklace, the small one in the big one, connected at the top and with a dangling heart in the middle. I'd give the mom 1.5/5 buttholes bc it's meant to be passed down from gen to gen, but I don't think it's also the end of the world. Let's make it 2/5 bc of the risk it gets stolen or the son has to make the decision to take it when she passes, and he would most likely feel awful about doing that.

with heirloom jewelry i hate how people act like its a family owned piece. that woman was GIVEN that ring by her husband. by logic, it is hers then. I understand tradition matters, but also she owns the ring not the grandmother or her son. its not selfish and entitled to do what you want with an item you own.

regarding the ring, the son might want the ring to carry on the tradition like his father, I feel bad for the woman who lost her husband but she is not the only person in that situation who lost a loved one.
