I've heard before that you shouldn't get protection/restraining orders against stalkers, cause the order needs to list the place that the stalker has to stay away from, meaning, the stalker learns exactly where you live. @@chelleyd4020 Because she said so. Yes, she was indeed a victim of domestic violence. By staying she chose to avoid the undoubtedly increased risks to her own safety when a victim of abuse tries to leave the situation, but the cost to her children as a result of her decision was indeed grave. The cumulative damage to kids growing up in such an abusive environment are huge and leave lifelong scars, and often lead to substance abuse problems, severe clinical depression, PTSD, violent relationships of their own, and suicide. Unfortunately, victims of intimate partner violence put off getting the hell out of there because they are thinking only of the short term dangers; they are less concerned about how staying in an abusive relationship, exposing their kids to many, many years of physical and mental abuse on a daily basis, will affect them in the long term.

Our western world is mostly dangerous due to a lack of poor interpersonal skills, not just S. Africa, but all modern polities changed by contact with the west. I don't know if this represents a deterioration in the general character of individuals or a deterioration in social expectations, but it's sad b/c even though we have far less warfare, gangs and warlords, it's been replaced by entitled, crazed madmen and women who kill b/c they can't have something they somehow feel is owed them and it seems we simply can't stop these people from killing when they get so out of sorts that they become unhinged and homicidal.

Unbelievable, how can someone savagely end a humans life that way, it be captured on video and they be allowed to walk freely amongst ANY society? He should have been in chains and a muzzle in that court room, then sent away to rot in prison shortly after..horrible, discusting justice system they have other there.

His pathetic show of cutting his own throat, but not enough to actually do damage, in his horrible attempt at getting some sympathy from his audience is sickening.

The more I watch these stories the more terrified I am of my ex, yet I find a bit of relief in the fact I am single. How horrible! Poor Andreea! And what a joke: "justice system". Both countries should be ashamed.

I do hope it stays in the memories of all those bystanders for the rest of their lives, absolute shame on them for allowing this young woman to be murdered in front of their eyes without even attempting to intervene. I have intervened in a street argument/violence against a woman without even thinking about it, my body just reacted automatically, and I am a woman over 60. So many stalkers around the world killing their ex partners, they are so obsessed they will never follow any protective orders served, they should just be taken out quietly so they do not get the chance to kill.

Notice how he was able to move on and start a family only after killing her, when that’s all he had to do in the first place.

It blows my mind that noone helped her. She easily could have been saved if one of the many witnesses just standing around not doing a damn thing had the courage to intervene and stop him from stabbing her 14 times this case absolutely pisses me off and just intensifies my dislike for people and shows how selfish and heartless humans have become. Yes this man is a monster and is the main culprit of her murder but the group of people standing around not doing a damn thing to help should take some responsibility as well and i hope they feel like complete shit for what they just allowed to happen in front of them. The legal system in every country is ass backwords and all political bullshit thats run by people who dont give a shit about real justice or people’s rights bcuz they always find a way around the doing the right thing which most of the time is just having common sense! Humans suck period!

This story brings me back to an awful time in my life. I’ve also had to move because of a stalker…a female stalker in my case. This woman had severe mental problems including drug and alcohol addiction. I took her threats seriously. Just thinking back to how scared I was. I don’t know what she was capable of and I remember how that period in my life was complete chaos and turmoil. I’m obviously fine, but there were times when I thought for sure she was going to harm me or my animals:

Mother and father need to be held accountable for helping him escape South Africa

How extremely frustrating for the family to have to wait that long for justice for their daughter's murder. For me his upbringing and abuse by his father really shaped him to become what he became. If he was raised differently with love etc I highly doubt he would have been such a monster.

However true that may be, he still is a monster. He will always hate his mother, for leaving him with his abusive father, and he will always hate women. That's sad, but he is a menace to society.

Mental problems and psychopathic traits run in families. Avoid people from such families in romantic relationships by any means necessary (Including arming yourself). This is not victim blaming. Just one of many lessons to extract from the tragedy.

No, get your facts in order, mental illness does infact run in families as it can be genetic, or onset due to trauma.
Psychopathy does not run in families.

@@jr7845It may not be inherently genetic but can definitely be picked up as learned behaviors. Nature vs nurture. I'll stay away from people with psychopathoc friends and family either way.
