There was no indication whatsoever that the son harbored resentment at all, not to mention "for over 18 years." In fact, the opposite was true; stepson took to him immediately, as it was stated. Why would he want to kill his mom's caretaker and the breadwinner of the family? You think he wanted that job/burden to take on himself instead?
Less than 10 minutes in... but it's clear to me that this woman didn't shoot her husband; no residue, she's sick, and you can tell from the 911 call how focused she is on her husband & saving him. Not of these shitheads who have killed their spouse ever manage to put on a convincing performance and are cringe-inducing to watch. This lady was being genuine. I believe she's innocent.
Maypearl is a very small town. They probably rely on help from neighboring Waxahachie EMS and first responders which would explain the fifteen minutes just to get there.
You're right. That's why I was disgusted with the guy that was persistently interrogating Sandra in a very abrasive manner. In my eyes, that was uncalled for. ~Dutch
Ive heard a lot of 911 calls and hers is real. She didn't know she was going to find a dead body and did everything she could to save him. 15/20 mins of cpr is absolutely a nightmare
Hers is absolutely NOT real lmao her screaming sounds like something out of a soap opera or a scripted recreation of a crime in a true crime documentary
Do any of you actually use the gray matter between your ears? Who goes to a home with no mask, kills one person, then talks to the other victim for 10 minutes, then leaves the witness alive to count to 100? The whole BS story of "the killer told me to count to 100 and if he hears sirens BEFORE I reach 100, he is going to re-enter the crime scene with police within earshot, and shoot me". Sure he did, the killer stood outside and counted to 100 and THEN fled after he was satisfied. Bullshit!
Definitely reasonable doubt, the jury did the right thing. I can't imagine wanting to kill your only support person with such a debilitating condition like MS.
I feel that there have been a very high amount of times where another defendant in a case exactly like this would be found guilty... But in those cases the absolute need for a motive would have been overlooked. And watching or reading hundreds (maybe even thousands) of murder cases, overlooking that a motive doesn't exist or doesn't make sense happens FAR too many times.
Thousands? One case every day for about 5.5 years is 2,000 to get you to the bare minimum to qualify for thousands. That's a lot of cases you've taken in.
@@slicedbread5692 You may disagree, but I would start saying "thousands" at 1001. Or if you find that as a grammatical error, just take the s off the end of thousands. While 2000+ isn't likely, I do think its possible that I've watched, read, or listened to over 1000 murder cases. I've been watching, reading, and listening to crime/murder cases for a little over 10 years. And while not everyday, there would be weekends where I easily heard/read/watched 10-20 cases. Not saying 100% that I have, but I definitely think its possible.
I don't think she is necessarily innocent, but reasonable doubt was there. The only thing a jury can do, really is finding her not guilty. Police fucked up big time.
@@lovepet4565I respectfully disagree I think it was the son too many coincidences he was there the only day stuff was researched seems like he was setting her up already and immediately tells police it was his mom? And the gun being under her car while the cops didn’t secure it meaning he could’ve easily planted it everything points to him especially since financially she knew she’d be screwed so there’s no motive I think we need more details about the sons life to make a final conclusion but unfortunately we’ll never know for sure since the police what a surprise can’t do their jobs or don’t want to
I’m only 6 minutes in but I found my fiancé dead of an overdose and I can already tell you that scream when she found out he was dead for sure is 100% legitimate. I let out an almost identical sound when they told me that’s it he’s dead there’s no hope couldnt resuscitate him. She’d have to be the worlds best actress to know and be able to react like that. That is the real sound of pure horror and grief. The 911 call sounded legit too. Killers never try to attempt cpr and she was even worried about if moving him off the bed was safe in his condition. This was a man she loved and cared about. You can tell. Poor woman.
I absolutely believe there was reasonable doubt. Glad she wasn't wrongfully convicted but the problem now is that they won't be looking for the real killer.
I think her son was looking for an early inheritence. If he didn't do it, he probably hired someone to do it. I think a deeper investigation needs to be done on her son.
And the 911 operator. If a person is making pained noises then their heart is obviously beating and they are breathing! First step should be identifying the location of the wound and supressing blood loss.
The fact you have to spend two years in jail before you even go to trial is BS whether she’s guilty or not. It’s actually terrifying to know that can happen to anyone.

The very first thing I thought when the Wes dude came into the story is that he did it... Who blames their own mother for murder when there's absolutely no reason to do so unless u are trying to place blame on someone else
Kind of odd that the son immediately, the day after the murder, went to police and *hinted* at his mom without saying "yes I think she did it". And that they searched the car twice but only found the gun in the car AFTER the son said she kept it there. If she truly kept her gun in her car, she would absolutely know theyd find it- it's a car, not a warehouse- and why then deny it? Sure, she'd know if it was her son that came in and shot her husband but she wouldn't know a guy her son gave her gun to, described the layout of the house and maybe even gave video of the house and neighborhood to or even helped plan an escape route, etc. And that google search is just ridiculous. Even if you wanted to kill someone in their sleep you wouldn't search it like that. You'd have a couple of methods already in mind that fit the situation (any weapons you had access to, illnesses the person might have, ways to keep it quiet or not alarm others as they applied to your circumstances, etc). And you probably wouldn't come to the conclusion "oh screw it, I've done all mthis research but i think I'll go old school and just blow him away while he's in bed next to me. Surely thats not suspect at all". To me, that Google search looks planted. The actual search term used is very childish and simple and anyone with half the brain a 3rd grader has would know youd get basically 0 useful results from something so broad, general and stupid.
The son couldve had a co-conspirator. Right verdict. I was very relieved for her. She may have done it, but they botched this so bad, we may never know. The son couldve easily done it too.
I think that's likely the case. She didn't recognize the person because it wasn't the son himself, but the son set it up and knew that this particular gun was used. He planted the gun under her seat, telling the cops that that's where she had last put it. From what I've seen, nothing she's said/done has pointed to her being guilty, IMO. In particular, I think the lack of gunshot residue really points to her not being the shooter - though I guess it's still possible that she had time to clean off her hands, but that still doesn't explain the bit of residue on the left side of her shirt. It's theoretically possible that *she* could've hired someone, but wouldn't the cops have searched her phone and stuff? Whereas I doubt they ever bothered looking at the son's phone.
🤤💭 I've snuck out of my parent's house multiple times as a teenager and was never seen or heard by the neighbors nor my parents. And based on listening to this.. I wholeheartedly believe that the son 100% shot his stepdad and phrases his mother! How do the cops not see that??
cases like this are so depressing. my cousin "killed himself" but it was initially ruled a homicide. but he was in a small town and the cops absolutely destroyed the crime scene and then they fired the coroner who ruled it a homicide and the next one ruled it suicide. these kinds of cases are infuriating. another family who will never have the answers. 😢
@@alyssajean104 It was odd, but imagine being behind bars for nearly two years for a murder you didn't commit, if that is in fact the case... what an absolute relief that would be!
That's what my gut is telling me. She is definitely innocent. It's weird the son was there, then left, then he immediately blames his own mom. He knew the gun was in her car. He framed his own mother.
why is no-one questioning the son??? he literally dropped his mother in it, planted evidence and directed them towards it? i am baffled that he hasn’t ever been brought up on this
Man, that kid through his mom under the bus and backed over her…the cops bought it hook line and sinker!! There’s one thing I know- we have no idea who did it. The cops did a horrid job!!
I think it was the son. He knew about the money, guns, and in his own words, why didnt the dog bark. Well because the dog knew him. I think they bumbled this one severely.
As soon as the son spoke up, I was immediately suspicious of him. When no gun was found in the car and then it was miraculously in the car, it certainly looks like Wes is guilty. Maybe he wanted cash and then if mom out of picture he'd get life insurance. Nail in the coffin was he was there the night search on tablet took place. Sandra's story never wavered either. Her 911 call seemed legit, and she asked how could she help and got him on the floor and did CPR. Jury got this one right. Police bungled this one horribly!!
How can anyone look at the videos with the son and not think he's instantly guilty? He's literally smirking about the situation in every video he's in.
Would she able to sue them for their poor investigation and false imprisonment? Poor woman she really went through it. She witnessed her husbands murder, was framed and spent almost 2 years in jail for it, let’s not forget she had an incurable auto immune disorder and we know the judicial system doesn’t have the best medical care..
Maypearl was the name of the town, but the Mayberry police department showed up. Didn’t bother to secure the residence/property of a shooting until well after arriving. 🤦🏽♂️
Take him off the bed and perform CPR? For a gunshot wound?! 🤯 There are so many steps missed, _"Where is the wound?"_ should have been the first question,... The fact that he was making noises is clear indication that his heart is already beating and he can breathe to a degree, *Why would you suggest CPR?!*
I think it was her son.. most definitely. Trying to blame his mom.. she had no gun residue on her hands.. if she shot the gun she would have that. He was to quick to say he thinks it's her, where her gun was etc. I do feel it was him.
So much reasonable doubt! I can’t even believe the prosecution thought they had a case against her. Jeez! The only reason they looked her way was bc of her son. He led them to every bit of “evidence” they had. Punk kid- pinning this on his mom whose struggling w/MS. He has $18,000 worth of motive, access to the gun, free reign in the house. He knows the lay of the land. It wldnt be hard to disguise who you are to a terrified woman in the middle of the night waking to such horror from her sleep. Investigators blew this one big time. He got away with it.
The son was quick to implicate his mom and that to me is very suspicious. I don't think Sandra did it but that son likes mighty interesting for it. And the photos being removed from the phone is also highly suspect. Somebody's covering up and we'll never know due to shoddy police work. The victim definitely was a target, not random.
Yeah, I'm not really buying her story about the disgruntled former employee, but Wes did seem sketchy, too. Guess we'll never know who did that to that good man. Also, don't know how a gun can get so rusty!
I believe that her son had set her up as he was the one who said his mom had her own gun and it was under the seat of her car. She didnt have gun residue on her hands but could have wore gloves, but just a slight bit on her clothing but I do not believe she did the murder. Like the story goes, she has M.S. and why would she kill the only care giver, her husband and what had she to gain if he wasn't around. They never looked into the son and it seemed as though they just took his word for it and arrested his mom as if by magic the gun was under her seat in the car. I just think the son planted it and set her up. The question is though, what would the son have to gain from him not being around? Well M.S. is a disease that eventually takes someone's life but i am not sure how long typically. One thing is for sure, without him around it would have left him to be the sole beneficiary if his mom was to pass. The cops didnt look into that and they did mess up. It is such a strange case but I don't think she killed her hubby but then again we could be wrong and she was the best actress going!
No doubt in my mind that it was her son. It's super telling that she no longer has contact with him. She knew he tried to frame her and she shut him out of her life.
I'd love to know if the search for how to get away with murder... Wonder if there was a specific article on how to set up a person for your murder (HIS OWN MOTHER)
My apologies if this comes off sounding stupid. 1. The son looks guilty AF. 2. The shooter disappears within ± 2 minutes, which baffles the police. Did anyone maybe think that if the son was guilty, maybe whatever friend/person he got to shoot his stepfather could have run into any of the neighboring houses. In other words, it could have been pre-arranged. So-and-so's parents are out on this night, so you can come over here after murdering someone. That could also account for the gun resurfacing so quickly. It couldn't have been that far to begin with.
I feel that wes did it. If he was heavily covered up and disguised his voice- he could of fooled his mom of his identity. Plus his mom was in panic and shock mode. Probably wasn’t thinking clearly after being woke up out of a deep sleep with an intruder in her house. The light was only on for a brief moment to get into the safe. She also stated that she didn’t want to look at his face but just for a second for fear he would shoot her too. Wes gave me bad vibes.
I reckon it was her son, I had a gut feeling when he went straight to the police to tell them to look closer at his mum. So I think it was him. It's a shame they didn't secure the scene to start with.

Why would he want to kill his mom's caretaker and the breadwinner of the family? You think he wanted that job/burden to take on himself instead?
@@loveforeignaccents thats a good question that police should have and should still explore. His possible motive.
The son couldve hired/enlisted a partner.
And he wore a mask. Why not just kill them both... unless you need a fall-guy?
What resentment? Where did you get that from? Even after all this he is still close with his stepdad's parents and not his mother.
It is so painfully obvious the son knows more about what happened. That poor woman.
I believe she's innocent.
you can sense it, it's already led us to that by the storyteller himself.. no brainer.
This woman is lying! I could tell from the 911 call she done it.
I totally agree with you. She wasn't acting.
I knew she was saying the truth as soon as she said the attacker was White. If she wanted to lie , she would say he was black
It took FIFTEEN MINUTES for first responders to get there??? 😢
Maypearl is a very small town. They probably rely on help from neighboring Waxahachie EMS and first responders which would explain the fifteen minutes just to get there.
Well where I live it would likely take a half hour at least
Sadly rural areas take longer
Based on this video, the son was a better suspect than the wife.

How could he do that to his own MOTHER! U can see the grimmyness in the son eyes
Ive heard a lot of 911 calls and hers is real. She didn't know she was going to find a dead body and did everything she could to save him. 15/20 mins of cpr is absolutely a nightmare
My thoughts exactly!!
Stranger the have happened.
@@keeshakhan7136 true, I don't disagree. But the state dropped the ball if she is indeed guilty.

The Chief was damn near in his 70’s and extremely overweight. If there were not donuts involved, I doubt he was looking for shit. 😅
I think her son was looking for an early inheritence. If he didn't do it, he probably hired someone to do it. I think a deeper investigation needs to be done on her son.
This police force failed really hard!
The Texas law departments have failed alot lately
The Elementary school Uvalde
And the 911 operator.
If a person is making pained noises then their heart is obviously beating and they are breathing! First step should be identifying the location of the wound and supressing blood loss.
The fact you have to spend two years in jail before you even go to trial is BS whether she’s guilty or not. It’s actually terrifying to know that can happen to anyone.

@@coolocelotI’ve been denied jobs and apartments because of a DISMISSED assault charge that I was actually a victim in but my state won’t expunge anything considered a violent felony which it was. I was a victim of domestic violence (as a woman too) and was made out to be a criminal. The judge recognized right away that it was BS and threw the case out but I still can’t get it off my record and it still affects me and will for the rest of my life. And the cops lied through their teeth in the police report. They literally said I wasn’t injured when they TOOK ME TO THE HOSPITAL and a court officer had to help me hobble in and I still had blood on my knee from the injury and it was swollen to the size of a large grapefruit. The prosecutor tried to say that MY BLOOD from MY INJURY was from one of the other people involved who literally had no injuries!!! This was in a small town with a very incompetent police station but this kind of stuff shouldn’t be allowed to happen regardless of where it is.
It does suck, but if she was actually a guilty loon, you wouldn't want her on the streets. Obtaining evidence and building a case takes a while to do.

I've lived in podunk Texas towns for the better part of 57 years and a big fear I have is that something like this happens and I got singled out. There's no way these guys are trained for an actual investigation. They also don't have the proper resources. They would just want to put someone in jail and call it a day. They're not interested if they got the right person or not.
The prosecution did say that the son was essentially too ignorant to plan a murder. 😂
@@Nostalgic_1 The prosecution is too ignorant to recognize a murderer 🥺
I believe she isn’t guilty either. Her reactions were normal and defensive and she was consistent with her words.
I was absolutely in shock when they showed her after 21 months! Heartbreaking
@@matthewdekker6064yep, you nailed it, my friend. Exactly what I was thinking.

I've snuck out of my parent's house multiple times as a teenager and was never seen or heard by the neighbors nor my parents.

Police bungled this one horribly!!
she planned it with him and is a good liar.
How can anyone look at the videos with the son and not think he's instantly guilty? He's literally smirking about the situation in every video he's in.
Would she able to sue them for their poor investigation and false imprisonment? Poor woman she really went through it.

Bingo!
5:30 when someone is dying but you’re just waiting for your shift to end

I think he just knew his mother better than anybody. Guilty
