    Nice hunt, i can't hardly imagine going out and finding all that at one time , but that's the difference between a site and hunting creeks , thanks for sharing your finds !

      Yeah, for sure a difference between creeks and field sites.In fact without field sites there'd be few creek finds.If I had to rely on waterways for artifacts I'd be where you're at with forming a collection.Never found anything in my area in creeks and I do live in a rich area.Not all creeks are created equal either.Tall eroding banks is the key component for success of which we have not in my area.Thanks

    I am always amazed how that ground keeps putting out those great artifacts. So close on a few and it does look like recent plow damage on some. Farm equipment sure is rough on artifacts, that's why it is good to rescue them before more damage is done. Excellent video my friend.

      In most every instance when time permitted, if those grounds showed any dirt I was putting my shoes on and most especially if is got moisture.:>) The effort has been without fail every trip and I've done my best to take advantage of any and all opportunities.Fun places to hunt.Thanks for the comments.Always glad you stopped in.

I know I told you I have never found a point, but I have a few, after I found my first artifact 4-8-2019 a big green granite axe looking hammer stone thing one of the 2 I mentioned the other is red granite carved to fit your hand, ( this is going to be long) I was in a antique shop and sawa big frame of points and blades and flake knifes so I bought it and another one, . A year later I realized the big one was a Clovis but the base gone, any how one day looking at it I dropped it, I made a case for it and it doesn't come out, the other case had a 4 and a quarter inch Etley g10 and 2 ecentrics all 3 perfect, I better stop, I live on the shore's of lake Erie, nice chatting with you, no one else I know is interested in artifacts , 👍

    • @FlintSpall
      @FlintSpall  3 місяці тому +1

      I saw what you saw with the concave based piece.It was well on its way to demonstrating Paleo characteristics for sure. Absence of any basal grinding made it much easier to vacate that idea for they rarely ever made anything that wasn't ground.However, nothing was ground until it was being put to use and it was clearly near first stage reduction in the making.So until someone laughs I say it first stage clovis.:>)

    • @FlintSpall
      @FlintSpall  2 місяці тому +1

      I come across some really colorful materials from time to time.While it appears flint ridge like, I expect its likely randomized chert from local creeks.Most of the colorful chert locally is grainy but occasionally a few high silica content which makes for a nice shiney finish is found.I've smacked a good bit of it in our creeks and most is unknappable to the degree one would usually seek for when just knapping for hobby.Thanks

      Its water only in the clean up.It makes the true colors pop whereas they dull once dry.For that reason,I have a display table of some better quality finds that I actually rub down with pledge furniture polish.Its harmless but makes the artifacts so much more attractive IMO.

      Thanks for asking, but more happy about answering.:>) Yeah, got huffy and puffy but the bulk choose to slip by slightly north and south as they approached from the west going east.Had our shoes on and on the ready, but thankfully all I see this morning by way of any damage to our property was a yard that I'll have to destickamatize before I can mow again.I went as far as to bring in a dozen potted plants etc.that otherwise they'd likely be floating in the pots. I poured 5 in.out of the rain gauge.Glad I made the trip through the field sites before this because it's not doable now for several days.At least not for me but some half raised idiot was likely walking them last night amid it all.I was told and I'm sure anyone that ask was told the same that they didn't mind walking the fields when they're not occupied with any kinds of crops or when its rained 3 inches the night before.I just respect that but not all will, but I'm still hunting today because I didn't go against the rules.:>) No fun looking over your shoulder for a mad land owner.
