    Who needs coffee to wake up to, just watch FlintSpall working his Ole Stomping grounds!!!! Watching those boys in the south sure educated me with the San Patrices, thanks for finding enough of those Beaver Lakes for me to know em now when I see em. Sure glad you rescued that Copena!!!!

    That point put the ART in artifact!!! I think you could do a 3 hour clean-up on all those pieces you found. I would watch every minute! You must be pinching yourself because you are living the dream in the Old Stompin Grounds. Feeling blessed I am sure. Thanks for sharing your experience and I hope you get some rain soon.

    That blade with the long point is quite impressive. A testament to the skill of the maker.

      It truly does show their skill, for a knapper to do that with bone or stone tools is really difficult.

    If I can get the right piece of flint I would love to try an make a point like that one you found. If I was successful it would definitely give me a deep appreciation for the skills that knapper possessed that made your point. That is one of the finest pieces I've ever seen found. A once in a lifetime piece and not only a daymaker but a yearmaker!

  • @FlintSpall

    I am havin the best year of my life,as far as headhunting goes.At some point,after the crop growth causes a slow down,I'll try and make a vid of some of the best stuff so far this year.I do feel blessed,and undeserving at that.Appreciate the comments.

    I've never seen anything like it either. I bet that's not his first try at making a needle tip point. The knapper of that thing was very skilled. Great hunt FS. Field of dreams seems appropriate.

    Good story.Really never know where they are without a look.Most ridge tops are bare due to distance from water,but I have found a few that had a good size population,due to a good fresh water spring.Those places are rarely looked here, so if you find one,most of the time its yours.Thanks for commentin.

    (Continued) I asked why here? He said the hwy about a mile fm here was the original hwy the Indians traveled in and out this area. The Navajo trail. He said it was the perfect place for Natives to trade with other tribes. He even found a complete pot while digging his own well. About 6 ft beneth the ground. AWESOME!!!!!

    That was another very enjoyable hunt to watch, you really have some great places to hunt arrowheads Flintspall, I was wondering what type of chert/flint most of the points are made of. Some of it looked like Hornstone to me. That blade with the needle tip is amazing. That guy that made that was a true master knapper, Wow!

    You know I have an uncle in Colorado. He purchased a piece of desert/sagebrush property just outside of town, because it was cheap and very ugly with no trees and lots of wind. He began to find arrowheads like crazy out there!!! He's probably got at least 400. For the longest time I could not figure out why the Ancient Natives choose to be in that area. I asked him where they got there water, because there was no streams close by. He claimed that there was a spring on his neighbors prpty.

    Your Rockhead point is certainly paleo !!!! Two Beaver Lakes in one hunt !!! I agree about your remarkablt tip point. The only thing like that I've ever found was a bone awl with a tip just like that. Suspect whatever the purpose of one was , the other was used that way too !!!

    Killer day!!!!! Yes I would say it is no doubt a extended needle tip Copena. I dug one out of river bank and sent it to Dickey and Jackson and neither would give me a paper on it. If i wouldnt have found it buried with only a small portion of tip sticking out it would have been hard for me to beleive that it wasnt planted so I cant really blame them for not beleiving it was real anyway congrats and good luck!!!!

    Alot of hornstone is found in most all my huntin places.I think some is Fort Payne,Harrodburg,A little Dover.Then some of the white,pinks,etc,I have no clue.As U can tell,when it gets away from Hornstone and Fort Payne,I am guessin,if I say.I've thought of your skills,since I found that point.U could prolly make one like that also.I'm not sure of the Mat.,It is tranlucent with specks,like Moss Agate or something alike.

  • @FlintSpall
    @FlintSpall  12 років тому

    I guess at some point it was possible,but not likely,due to the fact that,in that area are campsite after campsite for miles along this stretch of creek and I figure they were all the same tribe just spread out,prolly Cherokee,which was the dominant,I doubt any other tribe would have attemted battle.Could have been some civil disputes.to many tools,suited for work ,in my opinion to be a battlefield.I think they just lived there for perhaps generations.

    500 times you see that finely flaked edge protruding from the earth and you end up pulling out a chip or broken tip but there is NO feeling in the world like pulling the finely chipped edge and it just keeps coming and coming - in my case 7 inch Etley. All I saw was a corner of the base - there is no feeling in the world likepulling out seven inches of stone artistry right to the perfect point.

    • @FlintSpall
      @FlintSpall  7 років тому

      Wouldn't know about a seven inch piece,but I can only imagine it was the same feeling I had pulling out a near 5 in perfect dovetail,with only part of the base and a little edge showing.:>)
