Hey, can't believe I just stumbled across this video. Hadn't seen it before. Congrats on finding the axe. I've been lucky enough to find a few. The first was 60 years ago accidentally while walking on a dirt road along the local river. The next was 20 years later after I started looking for artifacts. I found one early this year in a field I had looked in for 27 years. Amazing what finally works itself to the surface!
yes it is.Although not hunted this site for that long, I have hunted it heavily since 2014.It was a shocker but a very welcomed find.Glad you got around to seeing the video.

Know what you mean.I've found thousands of chert artifacts and glad for all of them, but hardstone artifacts are for the most part scare so I welcome them very much so..Thanks
Thanks my friend, I was satisfied with the chert artifacts, but a nice piece of hardstone, especially a grooved one is for me something to get ripped over.:>) I've not stopped handling it daily since I found it and it'll soon be a week.LOL
WOW!! I am late to the party but so glad that I didn't miss this! I have found only one full groove and it has a ton of honest use on it. I dug it at my home place. Your axe is a real beaty!! Cool,Glad you gotta look at that hunt and I agree the other finds were great, but paled in comparison.I put them in their proper displays but as for the axe, It's still laying out in full view for me to see every day and no telling how many times I've grabbed it up and still can't hardly believe I found it.:>) Oddly enough and I know idols aren't good doesn't matter what it is but I'm guilty of grabbing the axe and entering our storm shelter this week one night.I'll eventually do better.LOL

I,d say you had a great day goresous full groved axe,and some nice big Sandy's and assortment of other types as well. You can sure see the ground better with the tobacco stalks cut.congrats again on the super axe find.
After decades of hunting I still enjoy finding those Big Sandies and all for that matter, but because of the rarity of hardstone I get pumped when I find one that looks to be whole and this didn't disappoint.Not to mention an axe.Crazy how long it took to finally come across one.Glad to share the moment.Thanks BJ

I've alawyas heard full groove all around the head is archaic, three quarter groove is later. I think you've recovered archaic artifacts from the field as well....@@FlintSpall

Them kinda pulls is thrilling for finder and follower alike.Don't know if you remember QuincyPointHunter, but he told me once when I was posting some first time finds from SideKick that I was finding, that I'd be apt to find an axe.I thought, Hopefully but not gonna hold my breathe.LOL

I actually pushed through it after the find, I found myself as content with going home as I can ever recall, but glad I stayed and rescued the others.I should go back because I know for as least two passes I had looking for slick rocks in my head and likely missed some chert.:>) Thanks GBM

I've found a nice 3/4 groove with the bit broken off, and a big Celt with the bit broken, but nothing whole. It will happen. I'm hoping for a plummet and a banner stone too one day. I'll never give up hope!

Plow is what got it to where I could see it and recover it, and I agree it was mighty gentle to it.Awesome to find it in such good condition.There's one less out there than what was day before, but chances are in favor of you finding one in your neck of the woods.

I just fought it.LOL Truth be told, I think I had a few moments of shock.I had to edit several minutes of video of me going on about it several clips afterwards.The chert finds were great and glad to get them, but I couldn't get that axe off my mind.Didn't help me holding and rubbing on it the rest of the hunt.LOL
on the ax the one that was using this-- was dropped not on purpose. But the user of it was shot and killed by a white man! They just don't get dropped, unless there broke!
Perhaps that's the case with the axe, but given I've found a good number of cousin to the axe less the groove,(the celt), both broken and complete in a small area of 1/2 acre or less, and I doubt any killing was a result of me finding those.They were tools that was usually used at camp for daily processing, and I expect the same can be said of the axe.Just my opinion.Thanks for yours.

Great hunt. The axe is amazing! I found one the first year I started hunting and thought it was easy. Now in year 4 I know how lucky I was.

That's a good day of finds! In my area, the farmers have gone to no till. The hunting is very slow now.
Thankfully I still have a few spots that turns ground, but I understand, I've lost some to no till but more to housing development than anything.
@@FlintSpall l mostly hunt agrarian tools in the large streams nowadays. I have found some rock build outs and fish weirs that are pretty productive.
