First I tried downloading the new RAM wirelessly, a rookie mistake I admit (Kinda stupid when you think about it).
I later plugged in an Ethernet cable and started the download again but my cable wasn't wide enough and the RAM has gotten stuck. Posting this from my phone. Help. How do I get it back out? I tried flushing DNS but it backed up against the clogged RAM and leaked into my PSU :'(
TheBunniMonster Try to make sure your processor didn't deactivate your SLI config. Sometimes my PSU leaks and automagically shuts off all my processors to save orange juice. Also make sure your graphics cards are in the right RAM slots, check your motherboards manual to figure which ones to use.

As for your issue, try using pure orange juice with the bits in, if the OJ level gets too low, the PSU (Pure Squeezer Unit) will crush the bits down to top up your levels. Sadly, DNS (Do Not Squeeze) got flushed into mine, I think it's done for.

@@HedgehogY2K Actually 1Gb DDR3 sticks did exist, although they just shouldn't! Makes no sense! Don't think many units of those were ever made but... Saw some used ones on eBay years ago! That's rare enough but equally rare is the fact that some Chinese manufacturer is selling new LGA 2011 boards with Quad channel RAM capabilities and a NVME drive slot, as PhilsComputerLab has recently demoed.

Most modern PC users know it's not what Mhz the ram is, or even the CAS, it's what the heatsink looks like and if it has LED's or not

Deciding your applicable RAM capacity should just be a sliding scale based on how many chrome tabs you intend to have open.
Daley Yeah, in general, every 16 tabs you plan to have open at a given time add an additional 4 GB of RAM to your system... That's why I have 16 GB of RAM.

This was my first time seeing any of your videos, and I found this video in particular very useful! Tysvm! It's been a very long time since I've even considered anything on the topic of upgrading my computers since my computers are very old and outdated. In fact I only very recently learned how to do the old school lan gaming/networking without any internet. In fact that's what led me to your channel.
We've been experiencing a gaming issue. Three computers are network together to play the game icewind Dale 2. One computer crashes every time it opens inventory in game. I wasn't sure if this was a graphics issue or memory issue or some other issue but none of the other computers have this issue. So I decided to start somewhere other than some of the workarounds we've already tried like adjusting the video settings in game, playing in a smaller screen, etc.
In checking the memory, it really shouldn't have any trouble. Hmm

I just got new ram (4x8) I looked it up and it said it worked with my mother board and I plugged them in and they are working good and my pc works good but it seems like my pc is having slight issues. It crashed like twice and seems to lag at some points and sometimes my bluetooth headphones also have some sort of lag. Everything seems good for the most part but do I need to do like a bios update or something?

my motherboard supports 128gb and currently iam using 32 GB ( 4x8gb teamgroup elite 2400 mhz) and iam runing a large file with 3ds max which requires alot of memory so can i add ( 64GB 4x16 gb) with the same 2400 mhz & CL (iam only changing in size)wouldn't that be compatible ?

You will want the same speeds on them. Because otherwise it will get weird.
So question, if I have 2 sticks of RAM (2x8GB at 1600mhz) can I add two more (2x8GB at 1866mhz) of a different brand in my 4 slots? P.S. for some reason my current RAM (with the original 1600mhz RAM) in task mananger detects both sticks but only detects a 800mhz of speed for some reason... And if I do install all 4 do they have to be couple opposite slots from eachother?

I have a noob question.. I encounter a lot of processor that says ddr4 2400 mhz is that the maximum speed of the ram that you can pair with the processor even though the motherboard is capable of 3200mhz.. And also it has 2 channels does that means you can only used two slots of ram of motherboard??
4 years later (long time in a computer world) and this is still relevant
In the past, I found various speeds of RAM just caused the overall RAM to run at the slowest speed sticks. However, when I tried to upgrade my 2 x 8GB sticks of Ripjaws RAM with another 2 x 8GB sticks of Ripjaws RAM sticks that are a slightly faster speed (other than that, all the specs are the same), I found they don't play nicely together. Rather than all the RAM just running at the slower speed of the older RAM, the all the RAM slowed to a snail's pace. It took about four times as long for my computer to boot and everything ran at about 1/4 of the normal speed, including loading web pages.
I removed the new RAM and the computer still runs like normal. I still have to try the new RAM on it's own, to see if maybe that's the issue. I'll also try both pairs of RAM, on their own, in the other pairs of RAM slots on the mother board. If the faster RAM works, then I'll have to fork out a small fortune to buy yet another pair of the same faster RAM.

3:50 why will dual channel ram improve a system using integrated graphics more than a system using dedicated graphics? Is it just because the change is more noticeable? Or is the dual channel ram somehow less effective on a system with a dedicated graphics card?
So if you use the same specs, but different size, would that hinder performance?
Ex: same Latency and frequency, but with a pair of 4gbs and a pair of 8gbs.

Hi. I recently ran into some problems which may be because of not enough ram... My computer starts to stutter at simple tasks and my memory usage idle is 60% or something like that. I was using 2x4gb but now I am upgrading to 2x8gb. I stopped on HyperX Fury because it was recommended by a friend and it's also more affordable than let's say corsair (at least in my country). Thanks for the video :))

TheEvilVargon If the RAM on a graphics card was held in sticks, so you had sticks of ram on your graphics card you would have deceased ram performance and speeds as it would be further away from the gpu :)
But what if you had a graphics card in a ddr4 slot? would it be faster then?
TheEvilVargon Well, its a lot different. And both the DDR slots and the PCI slots are connected directly to the cpu.
TheEvilVargon They are designed for different purposes so putting ram in pci-e (with the proper connector) would probably result (if it was possible) in a slower perfomance or, even more probably, in just not working, and vice versa. It would probably be like putting diesel in a gas engine.

Pritam Biswas NO, if you have a dual channel mobo with 4 DIMM slots, the best for 12gb is 2x 4gb and 2x 2gb of the same capacity and speed.

Depending on the size of your server, the ram needen might vary between 2gb and 2tb. I think that mineplex and other big servers are multi server servers (?) so they use multiple servers to run. If you want to run a server on your pc, then i am sure that you can at the same time uninstall windows

Hey so I got a prebuilt gaming pc a few months ago and it can with 8gb 2400mhz ram and I'm upgrading to 16gb. I am not sure if I should risk mixing the old ram with a new brand. Thanks
