New subscriber here, great breakdown, there is one very crucial statement that seems to apply in computer building and that is this. It is beyond ridiculously easy to overspend on components when you don’t know what those components do and what difference they make in the end on your computers overall performance.
She kept talking about gaming purposes and I was waiting for her to say “but if this is your work station...”. I use my pc for 3d rendering and I usually have lots of tabs and programs open. I’m in collage for mechanical engineering.
i don't work with 3d engineering (i am only 17 years old) and i made a lot of research to build my pc, i heard that for gaming purpose 16 gb of ram is enough and having 32 gb of ram for gaming is useless but for 3d work and stuff i heard 32 gb might be usefull.
Did you choose what RAM to use for this purpose and if you bought it already, are you satisfied? I'm currently building a machine for rendering and I'm stuck at what RAM to buy
@@drakelord0721 8 is going to work, but over time you might overwork your computer, 16 works well, but if you want it to run really smooth I’d go 32. I have 16 and I don’t have any issues.
I'm sorry there are just a few things that bug me in this video. DDR3 is old but it's not obsolete. If you have a DDR3 motherboard and processor, you shouldn't ditch it and buy a completely new package. Ddr5, is starting to make its way onto the market. Stick with DDR3 for now and when the latest gens price drops go with that. There's no need to upgrade you motherboard and processor if it's working fine in the time being.
I have a new computer with 8g ram trying to upgrade to 16. Should I buy another 8g of the same brand or go with a new set of 16g? Dumb question probably but I know nothing.
Upgrading an existing motherboard to use DDR4 memory instead of DDR3 is more of a complete rebuild of the system. You WILL have to replace the CPU as well since the memory controller for either DDR3 or DDR4 is usually part of the processor. Even older memory tech (DDR, and DDR2) had the memory controller on the chipset. Replacing the motherboard on a computer you built might be a drop in replacement, but if you have a factory built PC (IE: Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc) it's likely that the connectors between the motherboard and the case (for power switch, LEDs, Audio and USB jacks, etc) may not be standard and you would have to rewire them to fit an OEM motherboard that you could buy. You might also have to replace the power supply, and disk drives if the old computer was using IDE, newer motherboards only use SATA or even M.2 disks. DDR3 memory is STILL available, and upgrading here is still possible. BUT it is a short term upgrade as eventually the rest of your system will become obsolete and no longer supported by newer versions of Windows. If you are running Linux, or even BSD, this won't be a problem, Linux still supports older computers as far back as those with 80486 processors (depends on which distro, but Debian still does).
Emerald Blaze well its people choice after all but if someone asked you what is the best DRR Ram you wouldn't tell him a DDR 3 ram and he will be complaining in some days why is it slow incase he is a professional content editor and maker
I disagree that you should only watch the DDR format. Chipsets of the motherboards support only a specific type of DDR memory at certain MHz speeds. Each of those motherboards has a limit. Even if your RAM is at this MHz, you shouldn't exceed the limits of the motherboards because this causes overheating.

Pretty basic, don't put ddr4 in ddr3, ram stands for... Etc.
can i have 2 different brands of ram?
"Cas" speed dont matter? PFFFTTT
4:13 is probably why you’re all here
I am making my first pc, but I dont know if i have Enough capacity, i have a ryzen 3900x and a 2080 super, is 2x8gb ddr4 3.6ghz enough
That’s perfect

We all know RGB makes it 255x faster.
*305x
I have 80 something gigs lol, I just found it in my dads old pc
only one digit changes look 100 dollars to 500 dollars
Yeah just make sure you have the right model, version, timing and the moon phase is correct when you buy ram for your AMD system
for example what rams should i buy for a 3900xt amd ryzen ? i am confused ? :)) what kind of rams i mean what cl what timming what frequency ? can someone be more explicit ?
2bad my CPU cooler covers one RAM slot 🥲
7:12 This clip right here ☠
How the hell was that m.2 ssd became pcie
Update: There's DDR5 now too :)
*laptop.
16gb is not even enough for warzone
so can i replace my single channel ram at ddr4 2666mhz with a dual ddr4 3200mhz? I think its just the speed it processes but i dont wanna be wrong and the ram ends up not working on my motherboard
Desktop PC (DIMM RAM Required) vs PC (SODIMM RAM Required)...why not just say Desktop PC (DIMM RAM Required) vs Laptop (SODIMM RAM Required) to avoid confusion
Plezz help...I purchased Acer Nitro 7 Laptop and Now I Need to upgrade my ram from 8 GB to 16 GB...Will You suggest me some good ram.....

7:13 LMAO-
I have Intel DH55HC motherboard and it has 4 ram slots and only supports 16Gb maximum in total. So I have to go with 4, 4Gb rams to get 16Gb ram. Anyway Now I running on 2, 4Gb rams and 1, 2Gb ram (10Gb in Total). So recently I bought another 4Gb ram and all them are same bus speed (DDR3 1333 MHz). So can I use all 4 rams (3, 4Gb rams & 1, 2Gb ram) together? Can I go to 14Gb ram in total?
Can i use 2 different clock speed ram together in a system ???
I think the system will only move as fast as the slowest part, so technically yes
if there is 2 slot in laptop and 1 slot RAM has different CL than other will it cause performance issues? please reply
Im not understand which one is supposed yo show whoch motherboard i have what is the name under
laptop ram can fit into a desktop via an adapter
Yeah you can Linus did a video about it
doesn't always work though, it can cause problems. Linus did a video on this to show the trouble he had to go through.
