Thanks for the tips. I’m from Saudi Arabia and here we don’t have the culture of using dash cams like other countries throughout the world which is really bad. Guess I’ll be one in a million then :)

I have a front facing and rear facing. Do you think I should put on rearview mirror.?

Note: in the U.S., many, if not most, states prohibit mounting dashcams anywhere on the windshield, even if not obstructing view. These states recommend mounting the dashcam on the dashboard, but I don’t really understand how that is accomplished.

Great video. I purchased a Thinkware dash cam from your website. Any tips on mounting it onto a car with front facing LKAS and collision detection cam? I got a 11th gen Honda Civic.
The dash cam shouldn't interfere with those systems no matter how you mount it on the windshield.
I have a 3rg gen Toyota Tacoma that has a front-facing lane departure/collision camera set high up on the windshield in a large black housing. It's probably not a good idea to mount a dashcam to the left of that, correct? I'm thinking the lens (which is on the right side of the dashcam) will pick that housing up in the image. Where would be a good place to mount it on this vehicle? Thanks!

What tips do you have for removing the adhesive pads mounted on the dots? I used a razor to remove my last one without but it was mounted on smooth glass.
Use a blow dryer or heat gun to soften the adhesive, then peel off.
I had to remove adgesive in freezing winter. Not easy but I sawed it off with some braided fishing line. Use a marlin spike hitch on both ends to keep your fingers attached to your body.
I just threw a brick through my cars windshield & reached in & pulled the remaining adhesive pad out. I covered the hole with a small piece of plywood.
how to get rid of that dash board reflection? May be mount the camera further down close to the dashboard rather than infront of the mirror?
Hi Rajarshi, we'd recommend getting a CPL filter for your dash cam. It will help minimize dashboard reflections.
Hoe to get rid of the air bubbles between windshield and the adhesive?
Gary Kwan let it bake in the sun then press on it firmly, do this for a few days and the bubbles will eventually disappear.
Does taping the dash cam to the window cause it to peel off when temperatures get really hot?
Adhesives will loosen when under intense heat but using the regular mount it should not just 'peel off'. It will still require some force.
So I used the adhesive right underneath my wiper sensor near the rear view mirror and it started loosen off when I left the car in the sun when I went to eat lunch. How can I fix this?
The only way would be to not leave it in direct sunlight.
@@blackboxmycar I just got another dash cam that uses the suction cup instead. Double tape doesn’t work for sunlight.
How do you install the unit to the window mount
Most cameras have grooves on the back of the unit that neatly slide into the mount, sliding from the right or left.
Any dash cams that mount on the dash?
Mounting dash cams to the dash isn't ideal, since it won't be able to capture key details in close range such as license plates. Still, you can technically use the 3M dual-locking adhesive tape to mount cameras to the dash as needed. Most cameras aren't going to look great like this, but BlackVue units would be better than most.

Not quite - you can check this link for the full breakdown: www.expertmarket.com/dash-cams/dash-cam-laws-by-state - but in most cases, as long as the dash cam doesn't obstruct your view, you can mount it on your windshield.
@@blackboxmycarHah! I drive mostly in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Here’s the dashcam laws in those two states (from your link):
NJ: "It's illegal for any non-transparent object to be mounted on the windshield or on the driver or passenger side window. In New Jersey, the safest place to mount your dash cams is near the windshield, on the dashboard on the passenger side."
PA: "It's illegal to mount your dash cams on your drivers' windows or windshields, so stick to installing them on dashboards."
Also, keep in mind: although your windshield mounted dashcam may be legal in your state, when you cross into another state, you might be violating that state’s law and wind up with an expensive citation. The best way to avoid this unfortunate situation is to mount the dashcam on the dashboard (as the name implies), making it legal in all states.
mounting it on the black dots didn't work out. it falls off within just a few minutes :( my dots are raised up and i think that's why the cup loses suction
Yes, mounting on a raised or unsmooth surface will affect the effectiveness of the mount! Try moving it so it is on a smooth surface 😊
Or try an aggressive mount
