Exactly what made me enjoy this video. The copious suggestions for better watches was also what I was looking for as well! It's so, so refreshing to see a video that doesn't take a stance that can come off as elitist over something more casual consumers don't have any experience in. Wow so much hate on here... I bought a Vincero a while back and I honestly really enjoy it. I don't really care about the heritage and whatnot of watch companies, but it actually has a nice feel to it and looks great. I work in customer service and get a lot of compliments on it. If a watch can make you feel better about yourself I think that's all that really matters in the end.

Well, I don't know about Vincero all that much hence I am watching this video but I know that MVMT just basically puts on their logo on a cheap Alibaba 2-10bucks china watch and you buy it for 100-300bucks. And Vincero basically has the same marketing centric strategy around it so I am curious because I like how Vincero watches look but I would not waste 200bucks for them if I can basically get almost the same for watch on Ali Express for 40bucks.
I’ve had my Vincero for about 3 years and I absolutely love it. There are plenty of discount codes out there to get the price close to $100. Having said that, I wouldn’t purchase another one.
I love shopping for vintage watches on Ebay. I got a 1980s manual wind, sunburst dial timex for around $15. It was made when the dials were still manufactured in England, all for a 13th of the cost of a MVMT watch.
Orient and Seiko are by far the best affordable watches. So many good automatic or quartz watches under 200. The Orient Ray is a great diver, Seiko 5 is great field watch, and Orient Bambino is an amazing dress watch.

I've got 3 vincero watches and everywhere I go I get a ton of compliments. Their customer service is great and the style of these watches are so good! People can hate but I've never received as many compliments than I have with the vincero watches.

I definitely share your views on timepieces. I can't stand watch snobs...my favorite is my Orient Bambino with the cream dial. It's beautiful, original, and has an in house movement. It was only $175 brand new on Amazon. Definitley a bang for your buck. Great vid, man!

Demetrios Levi too bad they have 21mm lug width...impractical and makes the band look big relative to the case. 40mm case should have a 20mm lug width, not 21, not 19, and certainly not 22.

Great video and I couldn't agree with you more I just start building my own watch collection and I considered the two you featured in this video however I was not at all impressed with what they seemed to offer or not offer in that price range in fact I was really surprised at how many other fine watches out there that are more affordable with many more functional features thanks for the discussion!
Vinceros look better than the MVMT anyways. Still wouldn’t buy either of the two. Just go on Alibaba and get similar watches for 5 bucks a piece.

Always excellent info from Kavalier. I recently bought a Bulova watch and very happy with it. My wallet is not in the Omega or Rolex price point. But, good to know some of the less expensive watches were recommended in this video.

I have a Citizen Eco-Drive watch that cost me $170/£130 and it’s the most I’ve paid for a watch. It’s great not needing to go to a jeweller’s shop to get a new battery. I just leave it on the window ledge to charge and it’s good to go. Nice classic face with Roman numerals. I like the look of those Junkers watches.

I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would choose a DW, Vincero or MVNT over a Seiko.
Or any of the other brands your recommended at the beginning.
My guess is that they check out style UA-camrs who are promoted by Vincero and MVMT and overhype them, leading to the viewers getting ripped off.

Fashion watches sell well because they are attractive. Seikos and other swiss/Japanese watches are generally regarded as ugly to the average street-goer.

You can find watches from Seiko, Linjer, Orient, and Tissot that are pretty minimalistic and appealing, sometimes even looking more professional and premium than fashion watches
Style, MVMT have a unique, sleek look to them. No one is buying them thinking they are getting a Rolex.
Ok, so I'm sorry, what exactly do you not like about the Vincero other than the stiff leather? Unless I missed it I don't think you actual said.. I get there are other brands with more heritage, and I guess the movement didn't feel as substantial, but besides that what's actually wrong with it?

Very solid alternatives, personally I would never buy a vincero or mvmt watch but the alternatives are incredibly solid and watches i would love to own any day

Vincero will be my first watch ive bought with my own money. I have an invicta chronograph and my late grandpas polo watch. Really good review and im glad i went with vincero over other fashion brands. Cant wait to get into seiko, orient, and other brands

First of all, fantastic video! The other watch recommendations are real eye-openers for those of us who aren't as informed. There's some great [entry level] watches you've mentioned that I've never even heard of.
Secondly, thank you for acknowledging the watch snobbery. People are always out to spend your money for you, and nothing makes me angrier than someone that tells you what you want. If you want to buy a MVMT or Daniel Wellington of Vincero, go for it. Besides, MVMT have beautiful watches. If people want a modern empty-faced minimalist watch, there is almost nothing out there that does it as well as MVMT does. This is coming from a long-time Timex Fairfield user. The minute I see MVMT watches go on a reasonable sale (sub-100 bucks), I'll definitely be picking one up and there's nobody that's going to stop me.
Thirdly, MVMT, Vincero, etc. get their watches made in bulk from a Chinese manufacturer. So does almost every other company in the world. The difference between, say, a MVMT and a five dollar watch isn't the namesake. Those companies have their clients specify what design template they want, what materials to use and what technology to include, and if you buy a five dollar watch just because it looks like a MVMT, you're going to get a cheap nickel plated plastic-lensed faux-leather piece of garbage that will last probably for a few weeks at best before it starts showing serious wear and tear. Sounds a lot like a Timex! My Fairfields get dinged and scratched so easily they might as well be five dollar watches too. Fortunately you can get them for around 35 bucks. MVMT are made out of far better materials than the el-cheapo competitors and that argument is absolutely asinine. In fact, MVMT watches are made out of better materials than Timex if you compare their specs. Go figure. I bet the same goes for DW and The Five and everyone else.

What I am looking for is if the material and quality of the 2 are good or not.
I really like the MVMT Malibu white marble in rose gold. Or the vincero Carrera marble rose gold. I don’t see anything in the better watches with this design - any ideas? . I do like the nordgreen Native watch though so that is for that suggestion. Even though no marble.

Im still between watcjes, I like the style of vincero and MVMT, but want something with bang for my buck. I owned a luminox years ago and loved it. I purchased it just when I got out of the army and sadly it was lost. But this is the most professional review ive seen for these two companies. I watched a video from its complicated and he is a laughing stock and swore more than any drill sergeant or officer I met, it was rather pathetic. Very professional and to the point

On the Vincero website, their Kairos dress line is powered by a Citizen Miyota Quartz for $149. The Vincero Rogue chronograph line is powered by a Seiko Mecha-Quartz movement for $235. If I did not already own a Nautica quartz chronograph, I would seriously consider the Vincero Rogue Cobalt Blue. The Rogue's 43 mm case diameter would be more wrist-friendly than the Nautica's 50 mm.
My daily watch is a 2007 Breitling SuperOcean blue dial ref.# A17360.

My recommendations for similar and lower price points: Swatch, Timex, Orient, Seiko, Citizen, and Tissot (everytime). I have a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical it's a great watch. The Max Bill Automatic is one of grail watches.

I have no experience with the Casio MTP series. I have a Casio Edifice Diver; it's a good solid watch.

Calling someone out for having the Max Bill as a grail watch is pretty snobby and a huge lack of class. If you actually buy watches for their heritage and design, then its nothing wrong with the Max Bill.

Good material quality, truly durable, Casio manufactures their own watch movements and cases. Many "watch snobs" have a Casio G-shock in their collection and respect the brand.

Hey watch guys, I'm interested in getting my first watch. The thing is that I have a $50 coupon on Vincero. I was thinking that I wasn't going to buy Vincero, even for $50 less, but should I? Would a $50 price drop make the Vincero watches more comparable to other brands?
I'd hate to get something that has push buttons but aren't an actual chronograph, with the little bit I know, I know I wouldn't want that.

Junghans max bill is THE original bauhaus design, great alternative.
Love love love that watch, but it's not the original Bauhaus. Stowa was making the Antea that looks nearly identical to a modern Nomos Tangente about 30 years before the Max Bill was created.
I will say this: that particular mvmt model is actually pretty decent if you get it for the right price. They do have more legible ones too
i actually don't care about quality or function when it comes to watches... I buy and wear a watch for how it looks. And to me, MVMT watches look amazing. You might not agree, but that's my preference. I wouldn't spend $90+ on a watch, because it's just a watch, and I don't often even look at it for the time, so I found a knockoff MVMT on Wish for $5 ($2 with $3 Shipping) that looks and feels great, so I don't care that it's not real and wear it proudly.
I also think, personally, that Seiko's look horrendous, from a design perspective it's just not my cup of tea at all. But I do like the Nomos and Daniel Wellington; to me, those are nice-looking watches that I'd get for the look and not the quality or function.
Overall, great video; good review, good comparison, and I appreciate the honesty in all of your work.

Well my first good watch was an Armani ar 1451 at 200€ which is the most expensive watch I own but I'm just 18. I love this watch cause it's stylish and it can elevate your outfit to the next level plus I've gotten only positive comments on it so I say it was really worth it

Marky 27 Wear vincero if you want people to notice you. Buy Swiss or Japanese watches if you want to pass your watch down to your kids. Buy Rolex if you want status and respect. It's that simple. Choose accordingly.

@@Ferien7 These were fictional numbers, the main argument is that they massproduce watches in China and Vincero maybe over mvmt chose a "bit" higher quality maybe throw on some saphire glas (maybe even make you pay more for it) but why not just invest into a brand that uses money to make good products instead of massive marketing blowouts in marketing so people that don't know any better pay for something that is not worth the price tag. Really the only reason I am seeing is not knowing any better.
Fossil watches sell for about $45 and they look very nice. I’ve owned several and I’ve only had to replace batteries every five years or so. Plus, they engrave the watches for free. It adds a nice touch. All my watches still work. Therefore, does that qualify Fossil watches as well-made watches?
mark danao fossil actually has more of a background in watchmaking it’s definitely not comparable to mvmt and vincero
it is not only more heritage, but is also more QUALITY! like the materials and engineering TIMEX AND SEIKO USE FOR THEIR WATCHES

MVMT’s are hot but the Internet says they fall apart after a few months.
I think Vinceros are acceptable quality, but I only see a point to buying their Italian Marble which looks like an original design; their chronos are just an “MCE” watch with their logo on it. Paul Rich also “badges” this same watch.
I have had experience with Vincero, and they certainly are hit or miss. Better value for money definitely exist. Here are all of them:
Outrider (wayfinder variant): good watch. Finish isn’t too bad, but I wish they went with sapphire instead of sapphire coated, as this is a limited edition model. The lume on this is actually decent. It does have a VK64 (I did confuse it for another mechaquartz movement for some time), but it has a phantom date, which can lead to a quirk with the crown slipping while setting the time in rare occasions.
Rogue: I like it, but it’s definitely a mixed bag. I do wish it didn’t have the PVD coating because it shows wear more easily. Add the fact that it is the second largest watch with a lug to lug of 51mm (my ProMaster Navihawk beats it out with 52mm), so it’s not for everyone. It also has lume, but it’s weak enough to barely be noticed. It at least has a decent strap that can be adjusted quite easily, and it does feel quite solid. I do like the fact it uses a VK63 for its movement.
Reserve Automatic: probably one of the best watches Vincero has to offer from my experience. A review of it is scarce, but it has a nice sunburst dial, the metal strap also feels really good, the lume is arguably the best I have used from this brand, and the standard hands do fit the design language incredibly well. The only complaint I have is a minor one, and that’s the quick change system tends to be a bit finicky. Unfortunately, mine had a defect with the sunburst where it looked like a bubble formed on the 12 o clock indice. Vincero did send a replacement for it though.
Also, of note is the movement specs for the Chrono S on their website is incorrect. It should be a Miyota 0S10, not a 0S11.
Speaking of DW, I was under the impression that they went for like 120 back in the day and now they are basically 200? I also had a timex marlin reissue briefly (~2 days, wore it for 15 mins). Unfortunately it just didn’t speak to me.

I love the way these watches look, but the thing is you can buy them from Aliexpress for less than 20 bucks and get similar quality.

Skagen is a really good alternative to these because it matches in fashion and price, but is superior in quality.
Got me a Citizen, nothing fancy, will last me a while, doesn't tear through batteries at 30% of the watch cost per year. Don't regret it, looking at these more expensive and clearly lower quality pieces.

Those who like the minimalist watches from DW or MVMT, here is a cheaper alternative: Casio MTPVT01L. This is a collection of watches that are similar but not same.

I like and love watches... And Seiko is not the only great affordable watch. I read so much people saying "buy Seiko 5, buy it, Seiko, Seiko, and Seiko" exist Tissot, Timex, Casio, also Q&Q has affordable and pretty watches!! There are expensive beautiful watches like Sternglas, Nomos that you can find quartz and mechanical movements... Why do you guys always think in Citicen, Rolex, Seiko? They're not the only ones... Look for something different...

Vincero seems like they put a bit more thought into the design and exactly what materials they want to source for their watches, as opposed to MVMT or DW which seem to pick from a Chinese catalogue and say "we want that watch but in this range of colours and with these straps".
That said, there's still a lot of fluff in their marketing, like saying "genuine leather" when that's pretty much the lowest grade of leather you can actually call leather, or saying "316L Stainless Steel" as if that's fantastic when it's actually the 2nd most common stainless steel and nothing to brag about, not that it's bad, just if you're paying that much for a watch you expect it to be made out of regular stainless steel so saying that isn't a selling point.

The problem with watches like this is the retail price and the heritage of the brand. Second hand, you're better of get a Timex, Seiko, Tissot. Go second hand. Now these cheap watch are probably going to have ETA movements rather than in-house movements if they are automatic. With watches you want to consider retail vs second hand, in-house movements and materials (i.e. don't buy gold plated)
Vincero and Movement are so expensive now that it doesn't make sense. If you must have that exact style, then I guess there's no other choice but Timex, Seiko and Orient have watches in this price range too so it just doesn't make sense.
I think a problem is the only people who watch these reviews are people who are already into watches.

Buying an mvmt or Vincerno is like sending your money to a garbage dump and receiving something worse than garbage. Buy an Orient, Seiko, citizen, Timex, Casio, Bulova, literally anything except mvmt/Vincerno/Invicta.
Why does it matter? Why can't someone appreciate a watch for a watch and just buy it?

They may not be the best bang for buck or most innovative but they are watches and if people like them and that's enough for them, then go for it. Most people don't want to think about watches, they just want something that tells time and looks good. They don't gives a crap about movements or heritage or anything else. If these beloved heritage brands realized that 10 years ago, people might not be sitting here today looking for reasons to slander anyone who likes fashion watches and act like brands like Citizen and Seiko don't have crazy markups as well.
