I follow several mens style blogs and you are by far my favorite. Things I like most about your channel is that you A) do not use insistent jump cuts, B) you always show a large variety in your videos, And C) you don't have sponsors, I trust your input more than others.
    Keep doing your work!

Love the channel! I have been watching for some time now, I currently wear suits to work. I am always looking to upstage my style and keep up with trends in men's fashion. Your channel hits the nail on the head when it comes to current men's clothing shopping. I would love to see subscription based men's dress shirts, and suits. Being able to not have to go to a store to shop and all online would be amazing! Thanks again! Keep up the great work!

Great video, very helpful, thanks so much!
I tend to buy my dress shirts (and slacks) from Dillard's. I typically buy their hart schaffner marx brand, which is probably rebranded, but recently bought a Hugo Boss shirt, which feels and fits fantastic. That shirt and a new job have me looking and considering the finer points of a dress shirt and looking beyond the mall.
Regarding Bonobos, about 6 months ago, based on reviews of suit makers, I bought a couple of Bonobos suits. Got fitted in the store and received them within a couple of days at my home. The suits just did not sit well on me. They were some bad combination of baggy and saggy. I returned one of them and ordered one of their higher line suits in the hope that a higher grade material would help, but it fit the same, so I returned both. I subsequently researched Bonobos and it seems the original owners sold out, new owners are probably not using the same suppliers and tailors? Maybe the shirts are different, but I would rather try some of you other recommendations, before buying again.

Waited for this video for a while. have tried many of the companies because of your recommendations. I agree about Hall and Madden and Spier and Mackay. although I wish Spier and Mackay would size down the collar a bit. pretty large. I have to say I do like the fit and styles of Charles Tyrwhitt. haven't worn them long enough to know about there longevity or how they will hold up in the long run. they fit great. Thanks for the great videos.

Hey Bud! Just wanted to say love your vids and can't wait for the best performance dress shirt reviews... I was actually going to request that but ya beat me to the punch haha! just a small request in that video in that I hope you can place a lot of focus towards the long term durability of the water repellent/moisture wicking components of them.As with many that like to buy these kinds of products, I tend to sweat a lot in the underarm area and am mostly worried about that situation. I am having a really hard time deciding which brand to buy from all the brands you have mentioned before i.e.: Outlier/Mizzen&Main/State&Liberty/MinistryofSupply....I'm especially interested in the Outlier shirts and their overall quality. Thanks a lot and keep up the great work!

Personally, I love Grand Frank. I bought their famous Toulouse shirt with the extreme cuttaway collar and I was extremely impressed. The fit was perfect...the best I ever had. The collar's really stiff, too, which I like. I don't know if I'd buy it at the wholesale price, though. I got mine for $56 during their Black Friday sale.

Henry Hillton-Taylor saw your post. I think one of his recommendations will be Bonobos and he will be right. the Jetsetter Wool trousers are awesome and some others they have including jeans and chinos.. try and find a guideshop near you and you can try on everything and nail down your size. I believe they have 4 different size categories. straight, athletic, slim, tailored.

    • @The_Kavalier

Al Sharpton I agree about the premium chinos. too pricey. although the Jetsetter Wool Trouser at 198 is a great trouser. Italian wool. and you can sometimes find a 20% off coupon online. want to get your size just right with these. although I'm a slim in their chino, travel jean and weekend warrior I was a tailored fit in the wool trouser.

OMG, I cant believe you've mentioned Ledbury. I picked up a light blue one in Marshalls (never heard of Lebdury before) and I cant tell you how many compliments I get when I wear it. I am 5' 11", 175lbs, and I got a 16" neck, 34" sleeves, and its like they made it for me. The fit is insanely great and the material is so soft. I only paid $39.99 and is the best bargain I've ever found on a shirt. I went back and picked up 2 more and I tried to go to other Marshalls to see if there were more, but only the store by me had them. Now I am always looking for them (at a cheap bargain price that is :>)))

Hey Lucas...I have about 5 BB dress shirts (all button down collars). I like BB because they have like 3 or 4 varieties fit and you can get the exact sleeve length (I wear 16 1/2 x 35). If you go to the outlets they usually have "unusual colors/prints-not so desirable" and the 34/35 sleeve length (which is a bit sort for me). I like the exact sleeve length. They are the "no iron" variety (which I press off anyway). You can usually fids a sale a few times a year. However, I really do not know what is going on with the "pandemic impact" and the supposed "bankruptcy". They have "casual dress shirts" there like the Oxford cotton (usually in like s/m/l) and if you are lucky one of these sizes will fit. I would recommend BB, especially on sale. I think they are reasonably good quality (for today's manufactiuring, etc.) and reasonably priced (especially during sale. Note too, Dillards usually have 1/2 price sales (for sure around 1st of year) on dress clothes including the "Gold Label" line of shirts. I would recommend both of these. I don't know if I would spend more on a 'dress/dress casual shirt" than these. I would like to try an Eton or Kamakura sometime but with the lockdown, there is really nowhere special to get dressed up for. I hope this helps.

Thank you for these videos. Rating shirts by fit of course is difficult and depends on your individual body type. For me personally Charles Tyrwhitt's extra slim fit shirts fit perfectly off the rack and even though quality could be better, I consider them to be of great value (especially since I don't need to get them altered). Pricing is also dependend on where you live and buying a $55 shirt for example is not worth it once you add the $30 for shipping.
Great and very helpful video nonetheless. As far as I'm concerned you created one of the best channels on youtube when it comes to men's clothing and brand reviews.

I love my Charles Tyrwhitt shirt. Not sure what was wrong with yours. Can you review TM Lewin shirts? They have a very slim shirt. So slim I had to send it back lol my CT shirt even came with brass collar stays...very nice. My aTM Lewin is a little harder to keep
Tucked in bc it’s a shorter length shirt

Excellent vid. I actually think Charles tyrwhitt has better wrinkle free materials than everything you mentioned but I don’t find even their new super slim fit to have high enough arm holes. Comes untucked so easily!

Hi Jon, Love the channel. I wanted to ask what brands do you recommend for guys with larger than an 18 in neck? Im looking at most of these brands and they stop at around 17.5 - 18. Ill be honest im overweight but i have an athletic build with broad shoulders. Working on loosing the weight too, But I wanted to know what is my best bet. Go down the mtm route, off the rack? any particular brand? If it helps also a college student so budget is tight, but doesnt means i cant do some saving to buy something nice and of quality.

Most MTM should be able to accommodate that. My favorite right now is Ratio. Made in the USA MTM with great materials and a fair price. Have you checked them out?

My issue is that my chest is about 38-40 but my neck size is 16.5. So if I buy the right neck size I end up with a shirt that's too big in the chest.

Round tree & York, Paul Fredrick.
I like these, also berlioni from eBay.
I have two Lawrence hunt shirts, the fit is good, the collars are cut small.
    I'm a 3xl ,19-19.5 , 36.
Their 3xl fits all but the collar, seems like it's cut to a 18-18.25. It's hard to button.
The rest I'm not to thrilled with.
They either don't come in my size or are to expensive.

Bill's Khakis carries a decent line of shirts. More business and casual and weekend casual. However, they "cut and sewn" in the US. The pants are of very good quality as well.

The most important thing with shirts is the following: there is essentially no need to pay more than 100 bucks for an OTR shirt, as it is highly unlikely it will fit perfectly. For 100-150 you can get really nice Made to Measure shirts. I would definitely not pay 200 bucks for an OTR shirt unless it was Isaia, Finamore, etc. I think that its much easier in Europe to find quality tailors because in Europe (UK, Italy, Germany and Austria) we have a much stronger tailoring tradition and men are much more conscious about how their clothes fit. I work in a 5 star superior hotel and whenever we have gala events or exclusive conferences, the European ceos, executives are always dressed immaculately and the US colleagues unfortunately always look like they haven't bought new suits since the 80s. There are exceptions to rule of course but I'd say 80% of the time its true. Its nothing against America, but I think that style (not fashion) is much more engrained with us across the pond. Love your channel though. Seem like an earnest kid and have a great sense of style. Keep it up!

Meaning that you don’t understand demographics. Hint business men are hardly a metric for the fashion tastes of a society. Business men in Europe come from a very different environment than Americans who come from the WASP tradition.
Per Capita well off Americans are far more likely to own nice things compared with Europeans. Just see how much of topic brands are sold in America vs Europe at each income point.

What part is unclear? The research is clear as to who buys designer wear. It’s American more than others. They buy more per capita than Europeans. Meaning that the statement is nonsense on its face.
European designers consider Americans their most important customers.

    • @stefpix
      @stefpix 5 років тому

@@miketheman4341 I am not sure what part of my reply shows poor English grammar, just what you did write is not clearly expressed. From what environment do European businessmen come compared to American WASPs? Anyway not all US businessmen are of WASP heritage. The original poster is referring to business attire style, so why wouldn't American and European businessmen CEOs etc be a valid metric?

    Hi Jon,
One aspect important to me in choosing dress shirts is ease of care. Frankly, I'm too lazy to go to the cleaners every week so I need a shirt that is going to hold up to the rigors of home washing and drying and then be easy to iron after. I know taking shirts to the cleaner is probably best for the shirt, but what your recommendation be based on ease of care and durability?
