I think Vincero's issue is that piece really reminds me of the Tag Carrera, but the Tag isn't necessarily such a special design that it warrants being "homaged", if you will. So where a homage to a Submariner might be justified in the world of design, there just seems like no reason to go with a very simple, classic Tag design when it would be so easy to create an original design to the same effect. It just screams "hollow" and "vapid" to me.

+Logan Hannen that's a good point. Explains why it just felt hollow

MSRP of the cheapest TAG Carrera = $2,400. Vincero Kairos Quartz MSRP = $139. That's a pretty compelling reason to do a "homage'. Certainly a much better option that buying a fake TAG.

As a Heuer fan i'd have to say that the Carerra is quite iconic, not as iconic as the Monaco but you know, it's like the rolex sub and the rolex datejust are both iconic.
My problem with vincero is the quality vs price. Sure their watches look nice but they don't warrant the price tag, I mean if they where 50-60 bucks, decent fashion watch, but they market themselves as something they're not.
Their target demographic isn't people who are into watches, people who are into watches or who know a lot about watches, it's teens and young adults such as myself that they aim to sell their watches to.
When I was about 15 or 16 all I wanted was a Daniel Wellington or a MVMT because I thought they where such cool designs at really good prices and all the people I followed promoted them.
Thank goodness I found out what bad value for money they are and how cheaply made they are. It wasn't till I got my first proper watch which actually happened to be a Tissot that I got into watches and horology, and since then I've come to love Watches of all different price points from a lot of different brands, but Tissot being my first proper watch holds a special place in my heart.
Tissot, Panerai, Omega, Tag Heuer, Seiko, Jaeger Lecoultre has to be some of my favourite watch makers. :)

Great video! It really illustrates just how different these watch brands are, even when they seem very similar on the surface. I look at Skagen vs. Brathwait, for example. They look the same, and to most people they are, but if you dig a little deeper, they're very different.

edit: i suppose the swatch sistem51, whose movement is basically what tissot uses in this watch, is a swiss made automatic that’s even cheaper?

    • @The_Kavalier

Yes, meant to mention the sistem51, that is the groundbreaker for the price point. A better moniker would be lowest price swiss made "real watch"? I would hardly consider wearing one of the Sistem watches with all of the plastic and flair but excellent point.

I appreciate how you are wearing gloves. Makes it easier to concentrate on the watches. Sometime back I finished a workday and went into a high end watch store and would have gladly worn gloves, but I didn't know the etiquette and I touched a face, and was quickly put in my place. Personally, right now, I would rather have a quartz because you can set it and forget it, but an automatic requires constant minding.

Anti-reflective coat is so delicate for an everyday watch isn’t it? And I think (IMHO) that this choice give to the watch a fantastic retro flavour. So thinking it better I should get one :)

    • @joshsmith7812
      @joshsmith7812 5 років тому +1

Tissot was my first proper watch, what you get with a Tissot is a whole experience and entry into the world of swiss watches and horology. Tissot hits way above their price point, they've been around since 1853, they must be doing something right to still be producing and selling watches today.
Not only that but they keep time for the Moto GP, Rugby 6 nations, Tour Des France, NBA, and a few others.
Even their cheapest watch is a milestone ahead of the most expensive vincero.
Tissot uses sapphire crystal which is very strong and scratch resistant, good grade stainless steel, all of their watches use ETA movements which are used in much more expensive watches as well like Brietling, Panerai, etc.
They come in a really nice box with even a velvet storage/cleaning pouch, a book with the history of the brand, a 2 year international warranty, basically put, for the money you're paying for even the cheapest Tissot, you get a lot of value for money. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I love Tissot and I think in the entry level price range there's few brands who have to offer on their entry level pieces what tissot does.
Seiko although not swiss also has a tone of history and makes some really cool watches that are meant to work, they're very reliable. Citizen makes some decent watches too.
If you want to get into Swiss watches, Tissot is a great brand to start with. Besides their entry level affordable pieces, they do have some higher end watches as well.

Re the Vincero, if this is your watch that is fine and good, but you should definitely change the band (pace, if this has been pointed out before). The deployant buckle is bulky, is always noticeable on your wrist, and you can't really rest your wrist comfortably on a table. After buying a deployant strap for my current vintage watch, I would now always go with a standard quick release strap and buckle.

I am very familiar with Vincero, given I have had experience with their products. I know they went and upgraded the specs on a lot of their older watches (particularly going to a true sapphire and a full grain strap), though I do wish they used a more premium movement for the price.
Also of note is the Kairos Automatic was discontinued long ago, and the brand has started using 9000 Series Miyotas in all but one of their automatic collections.

Hi, nice video. Out of interest, what do you and everyone think about the Swissmatic or Sistem51 movements? At first, I was very interested, as I thought it'd be a good way to buy my first Swiss Auto.
However I've been thinking: are they seen as credible automatic watches in the watch community, given the method of their production (which lacks the craftsmanship and tradition)? Since they are basically movements built by machines.
Im on the fence on whether I should buy a Tissot Everytime Swissmatic as my first auto - can't make my mind up! I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

They look the same as the $300 automatic you reviewed, but only cost $140. I like VIncero's quartz watches, but I don't see the point of paying just over double the price just to add a basic Automatic movement.

Mid tier? You have a review of 3 watches. Tissot is entry level Swiss luxury and a great intro to Swiss watches. L'Heur Luxe brings its own value proposition, I suppose and is no doubt a looker. The Vincero or whatever should just be skipped altogether. You could get more lasting enjoyment from just taking the cash you would spend on the Vincero and literally lighting it on fire. At least you would have a good story to tell rather than, "check out this warm garbage I'm wearing on a strap."

The designs of the watches in this video don't really work for me. Too old fashioned. This is why I think MVMT is so popular. I own the tissot. It is +1 or +2 per day. It is very accurate. Also it is very stylish. On the other hand, the problem with the reflections is there, but it depence on how you look at the watch. If you change the angle just a bit, it is ok. So, not very important flaw imo.

  • @WorldView22
    @WorldView22 5 років тому

The Tissot Swissmatic 'begs' to be made 38mm; it looks unbalanced on the wrist (any wrist) at 40mm with an oversized and empty dial having a practically non-existent bezel. There's seems to be a marketing taboo for nominally sub-40mm diameter watches instead of considering how the case and dial design affects the overall wear-size of the watch. Pity, it otherwise would be a great dress or smart-casual watch (yes, it does need sapphire anti-reflective treatment).

I think he thought you were reviewing the Vincero Kairos (Quartz). You could get the exact same Vincero Watch with a Quartz movement for just $139.

I agree....Sometimes people shit on watches simply for the sake of saying they are not a big branded watches etc....Vincero looks good, feels good, tells time well and does everything it needs to do....I'm frankly not a watch purist I don't care what you say, I get compliments and by the way, this reviewer chose the wrong watch and the wrong combination, you would be an idiot not to chose the chronograph by Vincero over whatever he picks on the Viscero brand on the single pretext it's 'automatic'

Your not buying a watch to tell the time? I've never heard such a ridiculous comment. Why do people spend hundreds or sometimes even thousands on expensive luxury watches if they lose so much time on a daily/weekly basis.?shouldn't a watch be judged on it performance rather than on its apperence.? If you go out and spend a million pound on a buggati you are paying mostly for the performance of the car rather than what it looks like surely.?Shouldn't the same thing apply to a watch.? If a watch can't keep accurate time then what's the purpose of having it in the first place.? I believe the watch industry (especially high end watches)will be the thing of the past in another 10 years or so. Sales are falling across the whole of the watch market and I believe its to do with the fact that the method of making these mechanical watches is an outdated one. I mean a mechanical watch will never be as accurate as a smartwatch or smartphone. I think a lot of it is just down too damn right snobbery and just buying something purely for the name.

21mm aren't that bad, I kinda like them since you can put an 20mm or an 22mm strap on them but with metal bracelets you would be out of luck, maybe some sandpaper would help.

You keep showcasing the "fashion" watches, and instead of mvmt, Vincero? You justify that by using it as an example of over priced and low quality watch? A 5 year warranty, sure, it breaks and again a low cost to replace it. That is business.

I dislike how watch guys are so quick to forgive flaws in multi-hundred dollar watches. EDCers aren't quite so quick to forgive missing features or details in guns and knives.
