Interesting and thoughtful review, very thorough. Coming from a LEO background carrying Glocks for almost 20 years on duty and off duty from 91-2016 I am a Glock fan. However the CZ P10C has to be considered in comparison to the Glock and at the time it was released. At the time Glock had the Gen 4. The CZ features beat it in a number of ways. Fully ambidextrous (early versions) High vis mag follower, steel sights, no finger grooves, better grip texture, more adjustment through backstrap changes, more undercut under trigger guard, larger trigger guard size, better trigger, beefier parts (barrel thickness and chamber thickness, locking block and slide rails) front and rear slide serrations.
All these features together with the lower price (again initially) made the CZ p10 a much better choice than the Glock at the time. Glock has since introduced the Gen 5 which added many of the CZ features. The slide stop, mag button and trigger on the CZ all take some time to smooth out and be easier to use but do get better and the trigger was out of the box better than any Glock I have even some with aftermarket trigger parts. I have 2 early versions, one with 15000 rounds and 4 classes and the other is my dryfire gun and has around 3200 rounds through it with lots of dryfire cycling so I am biased some. Great gun but nothing is perfect or even best for everyone.

I love cz. Trust me im a Czech-American. I first bought a po9. I love it. Then I bought a czp10c that I been wanting since July 2023 finally got in December 2023. Took the p10c out 34 rounds it failed .slide stop spring design issues. I found out they had alot of slide stop spring issues and it honestly ain't a great design. I tried fixing it with cz approval by putting the slide stop spring leg back on in notch and put a slight inward downward bend in it. About 40 rounds came off again. Sent to cz in February they had it a month they said they deburred the slide stop and adjusted the spring I begged them to put at least 50 rounds but really wanted them to put 100 rounds through it before sending it back. I went out and ran 4 mags through it 60 rounds so far so good. I just hope it stays that way. I have seen alot of firing pin issues with them I hope mine last for at least 5000 rds. I wanted this pistol as a carry but I just don't trust it. So I have it for a backup home defense gun.

I was surprised by your initial review of the CZ P-10C. I've owned the OR model for about a year now, with a Burris Fastfire III mounted, and absolutely loving it. Great shooter. +2500 rounds without a single snag or failure. Fits my hand perfectly - medium strap mounted - allowing for quick and easy follow-up shots, despite the light weight. The very pronounced stippling adds to a strong grip, though just a tad to rough, maybe. I have no complaints about the trigger either. Creep is not excessive on mine, 5 lbs trigger weight on a duty/CCW gun is not unexpected, reset is short. Overall, very nice for a factory trigger. Surely, this pistol is not comparable to a CZ-75 or any other hammer fired steel frame SA sport pistol - but that is not to be expected in my opinion. This is actually the reason I bought it, as a contrast and challenge to my other pistols. Mine also came with 3-dot tritium sights mounted (maybe that's a difference between the European and US versions?). Can't say much about them, as I have never shot the pistol without the red dot. They reach up pretty high, but still not high enough for co-witnessing, with the Fastfire III mounted. Not really an issue for me. Anyway, looking forward to the 2nd part of your review and your final verdict.

    • @hrfunk
      @hrfunk  2 роки тому

Thank you. My understanding is the Czech produced O/R P10's do have the three dot tritium sights. I don't know why CZ USA changed that. I want to mount a MRDS on my P10C and see if that changes my opinion of it in any way. I agree, for a duty pistol, a 5-pound trigger is pretty good. My issues with the P10C in this video stem from overly hyperbolic previous reviews praising the trigger, and the drop-safety dragging on the frame. Thanks for watching!

Since most people do much research on firearms they are interested in, I want to recommend to viewers to go out to a safe range and test this out before dismissing this based on this review. I believe it is a matter of perspective and if you are comparing this to a Glock - for me this one wins out. I respectfully disagree with our reviewer and really would have liked him to show a range session showing the recoil and shot placement. I think you will surprise yourself with the sights and how well this pistol shoots.

I bought my first CZ 2 years and wound-up buying two more. I compared the P10 C to the P07 and purchased the P07 for me (I'm more of an hammer-fired/decocker guy) and got the P10 C for the missus. I really like the P07, but surprisingly I shot the P10 C better and may even like it more than my P07 (gotta get out with the P07 more). I really loved the aggressive grips on the P10 C, but my wife hated them...hurt her tender hands while firing. I've since purchased shooting gloves for her (I don't really like using them until the grips are total crap), but she put on some soft rubber grips (not very expensive) that feel great. I lot of your complaints about the P10 C are valid but, overall, we're not using red dot sights with this weapon and it gives up a solid/reliable compact carry option. We also have a M&P 2.0 Compact (which is comparable) but I'll take this one over the S&W any day. I also have a CZ Shadow 2...love it, but haven't shot enough rounds to know if it will give my Beretta 92X Performance a run for my favorite target pistol. The P-01 and 75 B Omega are also future considerations...but busy feeing my 1911 kick right now. I cut my teeth on the 1911 in the Marine Corps inventory back in 85, 86 (poorly maintained post WWII relics) and so glad when the MC fielded the M9 because it's no fun shooting a pistol with worn sights. Cheers!

Hello HRFunk, I’m so glad I watched your video on the CZP10c! Current date is May’24. I’m considering buying either the P10 sc or a Canik tp9 elite sc and your evaluation of this trigger in the p10c is exactly what I would notice, that little creep before the break. Like you, I’m very sensitive to that in any gun I shoot. I know it’s a self defense pistol not a precision target gun but still it would bug me. If you’ve ever handled a Caniks trigger how would you compare it to the p10c? That is my issue. Any input would be appreciated.

I picked up my optics ready P10c, last week. Its Czech made, and has standard height, FS 3-dot tritium sights. The foam in my case has cutouts, for the pistol, mags, parts/accessories. The trigger safety hangs up on the frame, ever so slightly. I like it, though. It feels good, and points nicely. It has more weight than I anticipated (~2oz less than my PCR), but i like a pistol with some heft to it..

I have watched the whole review. I value and appreciate a new opinion on the P10-C. Asking for taller sights is a little strange. CZ offers a tactical version with suppressor height sights and a threaded barrel. The Glock 19 MOS still comes with plastic normal height sights. Also some versions of the P10-C like mine came standard with a serrated three dot rear sight with three 15 round magazines in the box. I ordered a standard P10-C optics ready version but I got one that said LE at the end of the description on the box. Maybe I got lucky with a law enforcement version accidentally and got all the extras for no added cost. There might be better options that fly under the radar. All in all I have had no issues with mine even though I had to third party purchase my optics plate.

So far the complaints have been very subjective.
My subjective arguments would be, suppressor height sights are less enjoyable to shoot with if you don't have an optic or suppressor attached. I believe they made the right move, and you can get various models with different combinations of the iron sights, night sights or glow, dotted rear, or blacked out like you have. Preferences are preferences. I prefer the ones I train with
The trigger is excellent, the grip angle and contours are perfect, the grip texture is too aggressive for me and I either opt for talon grips or hogue grips. The high beaver tail is a huge plus
It fits a lot of Glock 19 hosters, a plus for some.
Magazine compatibility is really good, p10c, p10f, p07, p09, 3 mags would be nice, but the MSRP is now 399-450 depending on model, and that also applies to the P10s.
Set it up how you want, truth is, it's an extremely effective and reliable and accurate tool right out of the box. Maybe not a replacement for others, but a fantastic value for the money and one I trust my life on.

Another nice job! I must admit the first time I held this pistol when it first came out I loved the way it just seemed to become part of my hand, unlike the FN509, but I didn’t buy one simply bc I was set with my current firearm.
CZ makes some of the finest firearms in the world, one of which is the CZ-75. There is no question it is a pistol that has stood the test of time and still holds a respectable place in use all over the world. It is said Lt. Col. Jeff Cooper gave the pistol high praise.
Another stellar offering is the P-07 which Mike Pannone gave an outstanding review on. A tough Glock 19 size hammer fire pistol that offers the user plenty.
As many new pistols do, the P10C experienced some failures initially, but CZ seems to have gotten it worked out. For the new shooter who isn’t already vested in a system the CZ P10c is a nice choice for a striker fire platform.

Folks, spread this around, including your favorite Radio talker: Great words
Super Bowl Sunday from a Marine Corps Colonel in Afghanistan: "So with all the kindness I can muster, I give this one piece of advice to the next pop star who is asked to sing the national anthem at a sporting event: save the vocal gymnastics and the physical gyrations for your concerts. Just sing this song the way you were taught to sing it in kindergarten - straight up, no styling "Sing it with the constant awareness that there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines watching you from bases and outposts all over the world. Don't make them cringe with your self-centered ego gratification. Sing it as if you are standing before a row of 96-year-old WWII vets wearing their Purple Hearts, Silver Stars and flag pins on their cardigans and you want them to be proud of you for honoring them and the country they love - not because you want them to think you are a superstar musician. They could see that from your costume, makeup and your entourage. Sing 'The Star Spangled Banner' with the courtesy and humility that tells the audience that it is about America, not you. And please not everything needs to be spunked up! We’re getting a little weary of that. Francis Scott Key does not need any help." Semper Fi

I agree with you 100% on the sight height, for the OR models. I personally like a blacked out rear combat sight. I bought the suppressor ready because of higher sights. The lack of mounting plates is another pain.
The chambered indicator is a dumb idea on any gun. You should never rely on them. Always do a press check. Overall the P10 series is a great platform and I love mine.
I personally am not a fan of ambidextrous mag releases where there is one on both sides of the pistol because I have had a few eject the mag while I was rolling around on the ground. The option to have it on either side is in my opinion a better way to go.

If they just made the PDP sights like a millimeter taller outa the box they would have gave me a reasonable co-witness with my Vortex Viper. As is I can barely barely use them because they perfectly align with the red dot's base so the second the front sight post disappears you know the sights are on. Two comments ++, I have the original CZ P10C The ambidextrous magazine release was stiff at first but 500 Rounds through and it was a non issue I like it, I don't think you can really get to know a guns characteristics until you put a good number of rounds through it. I thought that "catch" on the trigger drop safety was something that would "go away" you're the first reviewer that has caught that , it hasn't gone away I've adjusted my trigger pull on my particular gun, the frame contacts the safety on the right side if I apply more pressure to the left it helps, Maybe the surface is uneven? Definitely a flaw could probably fix with a light sand/scrape but I adjusted. Forgot recoil spring on my gun did not have any thread locker from the factory backed out and caused a catastrophic jam, to their credit they quickly sent me a new recoil spring and now I have a spare. Pin at the back of the gun just above the beaver tail backs out every 200 rounds or so, I just tap it back in.. All that said I love the gun, I shoot it accurately.. My number one tried and true, Ruger SR9C perfect trigger, 10k + rounds of 115 grain 9MM sites on point as accurate as I would ever want.. Sometimes older is better? That's not a reference to myself by the way:) My other CZ is a Shadow 2 different category of fire arm, and the most accurate and easy to shoot pistol I've ever shot at a range. Yeah I have a CZ75b too with the Omega trigger. Amazing. I dry fired the trigger on the P-10c. It struck me that the trigger wasn't bad but not as good as the VP9's or PDP but way better than the Glock's. It is a smoother trigger than my G19 IMO. I bought my G19 with upgraded sights... You pretty much have to. I think the stock triggers on Glocks ain't great. To be precise with a Glock I need to really focus the first few shots where my VP9 or Walther are auto hit. Also they don't send you a bag of plates that suck like Glock plates. At least be as harsh to the Glock that a lot of people accept as "perfection" which has been sitting on its arse soaking up cash with a not so great trigger and throw away plastic sights for similar money. The only guns that came fully good to go were my VP9 which was considerably more expensive and a P320c Pro the internet hates but I like and shoot well. Anyway to deck out a Glock similarly you are spending more money IMO. A lot of your gripes are generic. The tactile loaded chamber indicator holds water. I don't buy into them anyway. Always assume the gun is loaded. Does it point better than a Glock. IMO yes. Fully supported chamber is better than Glock's. I have not shot it yet, but I would like to say it took a longer time to become proficient at shooting a Glock than other types of pistols that point more naturally and even a Steyr M9 (one of my favorite polymer guns) is easier to index because the ergonomics mate better with my hand giving you a clue on how to hold it and the trigger is light and clean, hence I shoot it more naturally despite the Glock angle. It is Glockesque because a pissed off engineer whose design change suggestions for the Gen 2 were ignored, so he went across the street. Having not shot it, I will withhold judgement. However, I suspect it will naturally shoot well out of the box and being an aficionado of all things CZ, I like the fit and finish, which is great. I don't hate my Glock. It's weight per round is great and also it's AK-like simplicity, but IMO they innovate less and it shows. That's my objection to "Glock Perfection". Also the Steyr out Glocks the Glock because it's non-confusing ergo's give you a natural sense of how to point it better. Also the triggers on almost all current polymer pistols are superior even the latest Taurus pistols. There was a slight update on the Gen 5 but it was minor not as dramatic as M&P 1.0 to 2.0.
I love your reviews because your format is very consistent and you are thorough. I think you have an internal bias to Glocks as do many LE professionals, and I respect LE professionals, but you guys have been subjected to Glock marketing more than most which is quite good. I picked this pistol up and it spoke to me in handling it in a way that the Glock did not. I might act on that but a CZ Shadow 2 for $999 is calling to me. That pistol is next.
P.S. Glock marketing should never have gone with "Glock Perfection". It smacks of arrogance. Engineers should never be done. They should have more accurately gone with "Glock Simplicity" or "Glocksimple". It better suits the gun in reality.

I don't really disagree with anything in your post. If, however, you are of the opinion that I am a Glock fan, I must disabuse you of that notion.

Interestingly enough the CZP10 optic ready pistols sold in Europe seem to come with suppressor height sights, and they are around €100 cheaper than the equivalent Glock MOS models.

It seems CZ USA does things differently. I wonder why?

@@hrfunk Ditto here in my country. P10C/F Optics Ready sold here in the Philippines through the CZ Flagship Store are equipped with Suppressor-height 3-Dot Night Sights, and are cheaper than the equivalent Glock 17/19 MOS by at least Php 10,000 (USD 250 - USD 350). Optics mount for the P10 OR are also sold separately, and availability is more or less debatable, with options for the Vortex Venom, Vortex Razor, Deltapoint Pro, and Trijicon RMR/Holosun. Do note that the CZ firearms sold in my country are directly from the Czech factory, that maybe why the ones we have are different from the ones from CZ USA.

I will say it again, H.R. does the best firearm reviews, very thorough and well explained. I previously owned the CZ P10-F fullsize and was not impressed at all for many of the reasons H.R. pointed out, especially the trigger, mine had to much grit and creep, worse than any Glock trigger I have ever tried. Thank you again H.R. for your excellent review. Looking forward to the range portion.

Thanks for the review. I am a CZ fan for sure, but they just don't get it some times. Why would you put out an optic ready gun and not put suppressor height sights on it from the factory for co-witness opportunities. Also there is no threaded barrel option for the optics ready gun that I have seen. If you could find one, I would buy it immediately. I have not seen a P10C OR in over a year or so. At least one plate free is a no go for me. I will not purchase a P10 OR in any version until they correct this shortcoming.
