    Great and helpful tutorial. Please beware that many D4F engines have two different camshafts; with and without a groove. The gap values are different.

      There could be a groove visible between intake cilinder 2 and outlet cilinder 2. You have to use a light and look very carefully.
      Camshaft without groove.
      exhaust valve clearance between 0.20 and 0.27 mm.
      inlet valve clearance between 0.10 and 0.17 mm.
      Camshaft with groove.
      This camshaft is identified by a groove between the cams (A2) and (E2). Repeat the adjustment procedure
      for the valves indicated above, with the following adjustment
      values:
      - inlet valve clearance: 0.25 to 0.32 mm,
      - exhaust valve clearance: 0.35 to 0.42 mm.

      Thanks again. Only two spark plugs were wet. There is no oil consumption so I think it could be most likely a sealing problem. But the compression check is a good advice.

    Question for you:
    Why is the adjustment done this complicated sequence and the usual way with the cylinder at TDC with all valves fully closed so both the intake and exhaust valves can be adjusted one cylinder at a time? Seems much simpler... Or is this a Renault special? ;-)

    I found oil in the spark plugs tubes. Can you tell me how I can fix it?

      Hello MrMariovfr,
      Before fixing the issue, you have to know where this oil comes from.
      Do you have oil in each spark plug well or one specifically?
      Does the oil come from the top or does it come from the spark side (very dark sparkplugs)?
      If it comes from the top : 1) the seals surrounding the spark plugs well might be cooked and so the oil finds a way to go out of the engine.
      2) the sparkplug well might also be loose.
      If it comes from the spark side, this is not good, because it means that the piston rings are worn.
      To nail it, you have to perfom a compression test.
      You have tons of videos on UA-cam about the topic.

      Hello Josh,
      Sorry to answer so late.
      The procedure is the same for K7M engines.
      The intake valves gaps = 0.1mm
      The exhaust valves gaps = 0.25mm

      Yes, at cold engine.

    Did this and idle is now very VERY unstable. Did it once 0.10mm on intake and 0.15 exhaust then went 0.10 intake and 0.20 exhaust. Problem still here. Changed gaskets , o2 sensor, cleaned thorttle, spark plugs look mint, smoke tested the intake manifold. Idle goes very very rich and car starts to sputter. Driving is fine. IDK wtf happend to it :(

    Cylinder numbers should be numbered from left to right. So, from timing belt side to the transmission side. 1 - 2 - 3 - 4

      In Renault engines are from 4 to 1 ( 1 is the first from gear box side)
