Paul was one of the main reasons why I bought a Mitsubishi Evo.
I had just turned 20 at the time of his passing, I remember pulling up to pick up my buddy at his house and when he got in the car he told me that Paul had just died. We were just heading out to a club and I didn’t believe him then when I found out we didn’t end up going to the club and stead just went home. I didn’t go to into my lectures for a week. It was painful

You finally told the complete truth. I have been saying this for years!! That car should not have been driven in that manner on a public road. I do not blame the car. I am about your same age and we grew up with cars without ABS, no traction control, no stability control, no rev limiters, no driver's aides whatsoever. It all came down to your ability to control the car. And, like you, sometimes I went past my own driving abilities. I once, at 19, spun my 1983 5.0 5 speed Mustang GT across 3 lanes, 2 of which were into opposing traffic. I once accidentally drifted my 1987 Ducati Paso 750 on a curve with low traction and almost high sided. In both cases, I never blamed my car nor my motorcycle....I blamed myself. And I blame Roger Rodas.. not Porsche. If the Porsche has been driven at the speed limit, they would both still be alive.

The car itself was also dangerous, Walter Rohl isn't just some test driver. He's the man who won a group B rallying championship in the notoriously dangerous Lancia 037. Group B rally drivers were insane, so for him to speak that badly of the car, definitely suggests it needed refining before sale.
I used to think Porsche held no blame, but when Walter Rohl and other test drivers are saying it's dangerous. You do have to reconsider and think Porsche did the right thing on paying out that money.

This is the most impactful celebrity death of my life
I finally had a chance to visit Paul's accident site this past February. It was a solemn moment for me.
Like so many others Paul's life off screen was an inspiration to me. Despite his bad acting I enjoyed his movies too
He is missed dearly and I wish he never got in that car!

I appreciate the closure you made for Paul Walker and Roger Rodas. My obsession and theories were corrected. Few things i didn’t know was, it has rain the day before, the tires was 9 years old!? No abs and no safety features? It was an accident waiting to happen.
i wouldn’t take that ride. Porsche took more celebrities than any other car manufacturer. May we all learn our mistakes and others.

Thank you for sharing, Craig. I hope you get closure and healing from this.

I understand why Meadow sued Porsche, there was a lot of different reports on how "dangerous" these cars could be in the wrong hands, and while being caught up in the moment, with the driver already being dead along with Paul, she probably felt the only person to get revenge at for her loss was the maker of the car, and you can bet at the time people probably weren't blatantly saying it was the drivers fault for the crash. However, I would be betting later on she would come to this conclusion that it was not the automakers fault

Respectfully disagree. It's not like Porsche sold the CGT and didn't tell people it didn't have any safety features, they were up front and if you chose to buy it, you accepted the risks. I feel bad for Paul's daughter but no money should have been paid to her from Porsche. The owner CGT might have been liable for driving aggressively on public streets and I could see him having to pay out. There are many accidents each year caused by vehicles that don't have current safety features, should they all be taken off the roads or the manufacturer sued for them not being upgraded to include them? Where does it end? All choices were made by individuals who accepted the risks they took in this situation, sadly, with tragic results.

Craig, first off thank you for everything you do in being an ambassador for the import car culture. Your support and very informative videos and information, are outstanding.
On this unfortunate event, I’m with you 100%. In aviation, it is said that a novice pilot’s enemy is inexperience, and an experienced pilot’s enemy is complacency. Complacency, an overconfidence in personal ability, and ego, all led to bad judgement by Rodas. Sadly, took Walker with him. Just very lucky it wasn’t a collision with another vehicle on the road.
Insofar as suing Porsche, even the Carrera GT with all its limitations in safety features…..it’s still a car. A high performance car. One whose limitations need to be known and respected. Press it past those limitations, and you are indeed dancing with devil, like you said. The lawsuit against Porsche was wrong. But as another saying goes “it’s not whether you win or lose, but how to place the blame.”
No winners in this one, you are 100% correct Craig.
Peace be with you brother. Thank you for this informative video.

Exactly what happened to me a few times. The worst one was when my friend wrecked his really nice e30 with me in the passenger seat the first time I rode in it. We over-steered into a wood power pole hitting the passenger side A pillar. I hit the door so hard I separated my lung from my chest cavity. They cut off the whole top of his car and lifted me out because the door was stuck closed and i was unconscious. I woke up yelling at the police in the hospital for some reason I can't remember and was there for 4 days. Missed a month of work. Now I have crazy anxiety if I'm a passenger and it's really hard to trust anyone else's driving.

i can still remember that day, when i've seen that on social media i was shocked. Paul (and the fast and furious franchise, 1,2 and Tokyo drift when i was younger) are the reasons i started having an absolute addiction to cars, as a little boy you always like cars, but that went crazy starting there. Brian and the silver R34 made me love cars. This was a really sad and dark day.
