As a UA-camr myself, I can tell you that when your audience expects a certain subject in your videos, it's hard to deviate from that and still get a happy audience. For example, in his normal videos, he talks just enough to get you interested in the car he's driving and the passenger, and then goes on to race. He knows people are there to see him absolutely demolish Nordschleife, so for him to talk more or make it all about himself wouldn't really sit well for a video because of the audience. I've met him a few times and the guy is awesome, very kind and of course smart as shit. He's very good at the things he does.
AFAIK ring taxi services are blind-auctioned every few years to only a handful of companies. So not everyone can just go and open a business to offer this service. But I'm sure the already established ones would welcome Ben with open arms :D
I wonder if I hold the record for armco replacement. My insurer was charged for 600M! I think it was EU15k and this was 20+ years ago! I came over the small crest after Tiergaten and aquaplanned. The clouds had just dropped rain really quickly and I didn't slow enough for the conditions. After going along the left barrier for a long time (locked wheels do nothing on grass!), the kink in the barrier sent me across the track into the barrier of the right side of the track which I hit at 45 degrees still with quite some speed. I bounced back into the sliproad of the left just before Hohenrain-Schikane! I'd done around 100 laps at the time in different conditions so whilst not an expert, I knew my way around a bit. I'm really glad you covered insurance. Too many people drive the 'ring thinking that they're only risking their car. People have lost their houses when they have to personally cover medical claims due to not having a policy in place. Before my accident, I checked with my insurance broker as it didn't look excluded but I wanted to be sure. The broker said the underwriter didn't want to cover me. I replied that if it wasn't excluded then I was covered regardless of their thoughts on it. They agreed and issued a new policy specifically stating that the Nordschleife was covered. I stuck with that insurer for a few years due to that. Great video. I'm surprised Ben hasn't experienced it. I couldn't resist and wanted to experience it once .... and ended up visiting from the UK twice a year.

Would love to offer my limited knowledge for a passenger guide service to you Ben! it’ll make me take my EP3 over from Cornwall

I love nurburgring so much I have 200+ hrs on assetto corsa. Done nothing but drive different cars in the nordschleife. And now that it got added on ACC (I wished without the gp track). I drive there non stop when I got time. And again what you learn from the AC nordschleife helped in the ACC version. Minus the gp track I hate it. Lap by lap trying to improve the lap
great interview! :) great drivers in one place. :) when misha mentioned about racing in other tracks, was thinking about asian tracks, especially japan. :) Suzuka, etc. :D
Very interesting interview! Nice to hear the people that come to you to drive their car want you to send it. I do agree. I started with the nurburgring after that went to zolder and Zandvoort but it felt boring compared to the ring. It was fun but it was not as exciting as the ring. Iearned the track in forza motorsport. First time I came there is was quite nervous but when I started the first lap I did know all the corners speeds where different and it was way easier to feel what the car could do. Since I did more than 200 real laps with multiple cars and sometimes my motorcycle. I really love the track. There is nothing like it.
Love driving on the ring. Did 4 laps in the rain ...it wasnt as fast of course but it was still super exciting. Good to have an instructor to guide me for sure. Bucketlist item checked off
I also have the book at home I loved reading it and was surprised it was less about technique but more about mindset and philosophy of driving better/faster ❤
Its interesting to hear Sir Collins compare Oulton Park to Nurburgring. I drove Oulton Park for the first time recently and was surprised how similar it felt to The Ring. The width of the circuit, the camber, some of the turns... even the tree formations at the side of some areas of the track.
been watching what goes on at the Nürburgring for years (drove on some track days too)....but the sheer number of brits coming over in their sooped up cars (usually some 3series bmw or really expensive supercars) is just amazing...i suppose thats what a speed limit of 70mph on motorways does to people....
G'day Ben, an Aussie here. I would love to see you come down and visit us, and perhaps have a dash at the Bathurst 12 Hour. That would be about the cut of your jib I reckon. Have a think about it. I suspect any of the teams would be interested in a driver of your skill and experience.
ooof. I approve of the GC8. My first car was a Mazda MX-6 (similar to a Ford Probe for my murican friends, the body was different but they shared the mechanic), but my second, third and fourth cars were GDs. I sadly never had a GC but my best friend at the time had a crazy JDM STi swapped GC8 he used to trash on the drag strip and in the backcountry roads. That car was a lot of fun. And that guy was crazy. If I remember correctly he went trhough 4 engines and 3 trannies XD

I just watched Misha’s video of the M4 crash, and I genuinely thought to myself that Ben needs this man on his podcast. You can imagine my surprise when I find this gem 10 mins later 😂
2 of my favourite drivers and people in one video. So good.
Great interview as always. Great to see two men who have the petrol in their blood talking about cars and other stuff 😊
Can't believe this . My two favorite channels in one video (!!)
really good interview, very generous listening and questioning.
better than most journalists.
thank you I'm learning as I go - love hearing how people get to where they are in life
Microprose GP, what a game, and what a chunk of my childhood.
Brilliant chat, great gentlemen 👍✊
This 2 persons are a pleasure to hear!!!!
Love driving on the ring. Did 4 laps in the rain ...it wasnt as fast of course but it was still super exciting. Good to have an instructor to guide me for sure. Bucketlist item checked off
I'm shocked! a Suburu gearbox blowing? unheard of! :D
I also have the book at home
I loved reading it and was surprised it was less about technique but more about mindset and philosophy of driving better/faster ❤
Thanks for sharing!
Its interesting to hear Sir Collins compare Oulton Park to Nurburgring. I drove Oulton Park for the first time recently and was surprised how similar it felt to The Ring. The width of the circuit, the camber, some of the turns... even the tree formations at the side of some areas of the track.
Great interview 👍
Great video and very interesting to watch.👍🤙
Thanks 👍
Excellent interview. Looking forward to seeing Ben at the ring.
Top video. Misha is such an interesting and open guy to listen too.
Couldn't agree more!
I was riveted, both of you so humble.
magic to see both of you on the same track cheers Steve
been watching what goes on at the Nürburgring for years (drove on some track days too)....but the sheer number of brits coming over in their sooped up cars (usually some 3series bmw or really expensive supercars) is just amazing...i suppose thats what a speed limit of 70mph on motorways does to people....
what a fantastic interview
Love Mischa , very humble guy.
A very informative video. Great questions with unexpected answers.😮
Glad you enjoyed it!
G'day Ben, an Aussie here. I would love to see you come down and visit us, and perhaps have a dash at the Bathurst 12 Hour. That would be about the cut of your jib I reckon. Have a think about it. I suspect any of the teams would be interested in a driver of your skill and experience.
Wow I have been waiting to see this forever!
Fantastic video. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great discussion guys 🤘
it cool to see misha geek out.doing like some of his passengers do i mean its the freaking stig
