I appreciate having the "cheaper cars" in the movie. It was nice seeing a movie where the main cars were cars that most of us could afford and already owned. It made the movie somewhat realistic and relatable. Outside of stealing stuff out of trucks, it was basically the same thing my friends and I were doing around the time the movie came out. I think that's why we loved it. Nothing to do with the acting or even the characters for the most part, we just loved seeing and hearing the cars!

Exactly! Something the rest of the movies lack. I'll never forget the summer of 2001. Or walking out of the theater opening night of fast 1. What a time to be into cars, and be 17 almost 18.

@@vermontvermont9292I was 15 when The Fast & The Furious came out, but I bought the DVD on eBay (it was a bootleg I later found out) and so for me it was leaving the theater after 2 Fast 2 Furious in my 1993 300ZX. Even though that movie wasn’t as good I still had a ton of fun getting into tuner culture back then.

I think the reason these newer movies don't have cars fetching such a high price is that they just aren't treated like characters as they used to be. Dom's driving every variation of Charger/Challenger under the sun, and everyone else is driving a new supercar in the next scene. You just don't see the character as owning the car and building it themselves as you did with the older movies.

I found out about 1G DSM's because of this film - I was 7 when it came out and I vividly remember my mom renting it for me from Hollywood Video in 2002, I had stayed home from school sick and watched this over and over. Probably watched this movie 3 dozen times in my childhood and still give it a watch once every few years. A Green 1G Talon TSi AWD was my first car, put a manual boost controller on it and re-wired the fuel pump, turned up the boost to 15psi. Had so much fun in that thing and it never left me stranded.

I immediately proceeded to rice out my accord after watching that movie and raced around like it was fast. I owned that thing for like 7 years and put close to 300k miles on it. It still ran like an absolute top. I did take all the rice out stuff off and got a reasonable exhaust, intake and nice wheels and proper suspension kit on it eventually before I sold it. Realistically, how high can the boost be turned up until it's problematic. Majority of forums typically responded with 6PSI but no more than 8.... and yet UA-cam videos had popped up on occasion proving otherwise (although not as dependable long term). I'd set something up myself but online community claims they're not complete or are misleading.
Last year I said to hell with it and stuck a 50-shot bottle on there then called it a day. Helps a lot when merging into speeding traffic or when people are being bullies.

The bodykit, wing, mirrors and ofcourse roofscoop. It gave serious racecar vibes. Almost GT3 look. Also the carbon dash, aftermarked gauges you would find in rally cars, the A pilar gauges and the rollcage. It still gives me goosebumps whenever I watch FnF1.

Yeah that floor board scene was a mess, when I first saw it, I thought the danger to manifold did something underneath the car that broke and flew off, but danger to manifold was unrelated, to just the engine over heating, and for some reason bolts on a floor came undone like as if it was under steam pressure and it blew off, perhaps it’s movie magic, where it’s just a bunch of mayhem so audiences kind of dissociate and are more engrossed in the chaos, than in reality idk, but yeah floor board randomly falling out, and then picking up Dom with no floorboard and damaged engine is weird, but luckily audiences brains still played along with whatever the hell happened, why would anyone cut out their floors and bolt in a a flimsy piece in? Was there something to access under the car there? Just odd, but the bang flash of the scene made everyone gloss right over it

Been to the museum in Gatlinburg it’s truly a surreal feeling seeing “the car” that started the fast and furious franchise

Hey, Craig, I discovered your channel two months ago about covering Brian’s Toyota Supra, I was wondering if you could do a video about Suki’s Honda S2,000 (my favourite car from the series) from, 2 Fast 2 Furious, please, keep up the great work, merry Christmas, happy new year

This is the video I needed to see. I remember going to the theater as a 15 year old kid falling in love with tuner cars and leaving there trying to figure out how to buy a FD or Supra MKIV. I was disappointed when the movies went the route of drugs and smuggling because it gave the old crowd something to fictitiously hate on us for and soiled the tuner scene a bit. But I'm happy to hear the stories behind the cars like this and knowing the tech adviser was against a lot of that gives me a bit of closure haha. I still to this day want a gsx. I need to do that....

Good info and your idea for the replacement of danger to manifold scene would have been way better. Wish they would have listened to you. The guy I got my eclipse from tried telling me it was a leftover from the movie and he lost the documents. Dude said it came from a storage lot in Arizona.

While in highschool I wanted a 96 Eclipse when they came out, before the movie was ever a thought, cause i just loved the body style. Afterwards when the movie came out I gave up on ever wanting to own one cause I knew they would become such demanded vehicles along with the Toyota Supra. It's crazy to think how iconic one movie made those cars become such legends.

I've always wanted to know what that hose is that's dangling underneath the eclipse at 6:09 and several other scenes. There are no hoses on the stock 420a that would do that. Was is a power line for the neons or something? haha

Imo the Eclipse was the coolest of the import coupes during that era. Every generation. Almost bought one twice, but they sold before I got to them. That body just kept getting better every year. Still would love to have one.
