- Here's Everything GREAT about Call of Duty Vanguard! I hope you enjoy the video! Vanguard was a breaking point for a lot of COD fans after years of breaking points. It was definitely a weird one to cover to balance the obvious real issues with the title while praising it for what it did well. I hope a struck a good balance and that you all enjoy!

The fact that you have managed to make a 24 minute video about everything great in vangaurd campaign amazes me cause I have played that campaign and I can’t find anything they’ve done right to save my life and I was one of only 10 people excited about a ww2 cod game in the new engine hoping for something like world at war
Edit: 9:14 I think all of us know that it was Resnov and Demittri who freed Stalingrad
Graphics are decent
Thr music is great.
The only good thing in the campaign was Richter - he was a fantastic character, a very complex villain. The game made you both hate him horribly and feel sorry for him. He's an awful person but he's also a victim of the fascist machine.
It says a lot about the strength of a story game when the Nazi office rat is the most compelling character lol
@@smala017 >complex
He wasn't in the slightest.
they couldve had a cameo of them in Staliangrad
WHY SLEDGHAMMER!
GamingWins truly has no enemies ❤
Exept for MWIII.

my biggest problem with Laura Bailey's "I shoot Nazis, they die. That's my plan" line at 2:04 is that it does nothing to show her character of, at least according to CoD Vanguard's story, the literal best sniper to ever grace the eastern front. Sniping is very *very* much more than "point and shoot" as unlike what Vanguard would lead people to believe, but suppressors weren't really a mass produced thing so a Sniper knew that all they get is just a single pull of a trigger before the enemy realizes where they are, and the biggest gripe is that Call of Duty has already a "Woman Soviet Sniper who lost her family and dedicated her life to killing the german invaders" character before all the way back in Call of Duty: Finest Hour with Lieutenant Tanya Pavelovna. From the first mission where you play as Tanya:
Pvt. Sokolov: "You've got a clear shot. What are you waiting for?"
Lt. Pavelovna: "An Explosion. We need something to cover the sound of the rifle."
Pvt.: "Ah."
Lt.: "And if I shoot enough of these Germans, they'll send a tank to come looking for. Then we'll need to cover our sapper on the street so he can place a land mine in its path. This is it. Always try to shoot the officers first. . . Let's relocate."
In essence, the "plan" is the same as Laura Bailey's character's; shoot and kill nazis, but is explained by someone with first hand survival knowledge of a sniper hunting in the ruined streets of stalingrad, instead of just the lukewarm "edge" of "I kill nazis, that's my plan"
I had so many problems with this game. I'm a history major, going for a doctorate, and to say I love history is an understatement. My biggest issue with the game is that there were so many ways they could have gone with it to make it actually a stellar game. It had so much potential, so many options, and so many ways to go RIGHT... but they didn't do it. All the options they had to make this game amazing, they skipped over or ignored, and they pussy-footed between making the game historical or alt-history, and ended up mixing the two to the point of it being nonsensical and oftentimes pandering or just wrong.
My biggest wish is that they had focused on this 'Fourth Reich' that was attempting to rise out of the ashes of the Third, and how this team was responsible for killing it in its infancy. I feel like that would have been a much better game, and would have clarified the purpose of this game being alt-history with historical inspiration. It COULD have been a great game, great story, and it had the potential, but for whatever reason they CHOSE the route that dropped the ball. That's what makes me hate it, honestly, is that it was just such a disappointment when it could have not been.
All story sins would've been forgiven if campaing ended transitioning to zombie mode. I thought project phoenix was zombies or time machine, damn it would've actually explain all the red dot sights, drum magazines and stuff like stg44 in japan in 43
Agreed completely
@@GayFurryFromSSyou mean the garbage zombies mode that nobody liked?
@@alastor8091 remember how it felt after you finish black ops 1 campaign and zombie mode cutscene with jfk starts playing? Remember that feeling of surprise, confusion and mystery? The "no way devs did it" moment? Well you could've had the same experience for 5 mins in vanguard, before zombies gameplay actually starts lol
@@GayFurryFromSS yeah, I thought about the comment afterwards. It would've been a pretty sweet callback, but the zombies mode was pretty bad. I could see a cutscene starting where they find an artifact that causes the plane to go down in a Soviet city ravaged by the Germans. Said artifact then begins animating the fallen soldiers with you playing as one of the 4 in the wake of the crash.
Glad someone remembered bear mcreary's awesome score. It actually got nominated for an Emmy.
Dude is extremely talented.
THANK YOU FOR REFERENCING HEROES OF THE PACIFIC! It was the very first video game I ever had the opportunity to play as a kid on my Dad's PS2, and is the main reason I have a love of Military History and CoD as a whole!
That Owen SMG that you thought was gobledegook was made by some kid in his garage aswell btw, dude was such a patriot that he broke the law to help his country and they used that SMG all the way up until and after Vietnam
"Ever heard of Okinawa?" _Those who've played L.A Noire, _*_Oh yeah_*_ we've heard._ Speaking of which, when's that GamingWins?
I gotta say, I liked what Vanguard was trying to be, with changes to the gunsmith, the campaign additions, they were all neat. But the problem with it all was that it was for WW2. I liked it though.
0:25 They didn't bring JFK back from the dead...
0:35 It's not about inaccuracies, all games have inaccuracies, it's about not caring to make it at least authentic and genuine. Vanguard is neither. Red dot sights and non-existend extended mag attachments in Campaign as well as era incorrect guns is frowned upon. I don't even want to start talking about the politics of it all...
The fact that you made an “everything great about” a game like vanguard is so impressive to me. I can’t stand this game but I absolutely respect the positivity that you show towards every game. You are genuinely one of the most talented people on UA-cam.
Btw the scope isnt actually picture-in-picture. It just blurs the outside
It has a eye effect on it to create the illusion of PiP scope, it’s just a shader and the effect goes away if the FOV goes higher then 110
Having looked up Novak. I kinda wish he lived long enough to be covered because he was doing spy work in Yugoslavia and that’s a setting I haven’t seen very often. It would also be interesting to have the protagonist be a spy where the rest are just outright soldiers and his mindset might differ.
I am also always happy to see the SOE get mentioned. They were some fascinating people that came from all walks of life and played cat and mouse to aid resistance movements to such effect that most countries maintain the capability to one degree or another. Fun fact that the SOE and MI6 didn’t much like each other partly because the Executive was usually fixing to blow something up or assassinate someone whilst MI6 focused on traditional spy work of collecting information, developing contacts etc. you can imagine how the two goals collided on occasion.
So where do they stand now?
@@jackthorton10 The SOE was absorbed by MI6 after the war to streamline British espionage activities and avoid two ministries managing the same area. Their main contribution was in training and R&D staff with a special operations branch being established but eventually dissolved with its members returning to the general roster.
17:40 It's become a common problem in the military for incompetent leaders to become all too common. They reason having incompetent leaders has become so common is because anyone who would be a competent leader absolutely hates being in the military because of incompetent leaders. Leaving only the incompetent people to take up leadership positions. This then causes a vicious cycle of incompetent leaders accidentally making more incompetent leaders.
I see all the CoDs in an alternative history.
I think this game was absolutely a rollercoaster of fun. Doesnt deserve its hate, its a fictional story loosely based in history and theres nothing wrong with that. Being a massive history dork, I still love it
I think the "disregard history" work pretty much different in both your examples
In black ops they change history a lot in favour to tell the story from a lot of parts of the cold war, where if you search the irl parts you will see the references, and also playing with the cia cersorship as if they were manipulating eventd and changing the true
In vanguard feels like they don't give 3 shits, example lyudmila (the real counter part of polina) was ukrainian and didn't fight in staligrad but in the campaign theh change it because in the soviet union wasn't there any other nations, only russians of course
Same with lucas riggs, upham the real one was from new zealand but they made him australian (keeping the new zealand tattos tho lmao)
So yeah is not the same at all
Also sorry foe my bad english
Thank you, black ops (except 3, 4 and certain parts of 2 obviously) it shows that it cares about history despite the changes made for the sake of the story and for gameplay, same goes for World at War and to an extent World War 2 as well
Edit: also your English is pretty good save for some typos and maybe some grammar mistakes (which I'm not qualified to judge given I suck at it myself)
Two things vanguard do really well are 1 it’s soundtrack and 2 it’s a cod campaign it’s always fun to just shoot people in different places yes even mw3
The stories aren’t bad but the problem is the way that they’re told and presented
Like for example in mw3 if they had more time they could’ve easily expanded on the no Russian mission where Farah would’ve become a terrorist in the eyes of the world and Russia would invade them again, we could have AI teammates in open combat missions and they would become something like ready or not’s campaign missions where you control a team of police or Marines as ghost or price, they could’ve explained how Graves came back in a better way, actually did something either Alex and not make him the most useless character in the entire franchise, have more build up to Soap’s death where you would see Makarov’s men slowly reaching up to you fighting the rest of 141 where price ordering soap to run away but he doesn’t let go of the bomb so it doesn’t go off and he gets captured by Konni or Makarov himself and excuted while everyone is watching and letting the bomb go off, and lastly if they had more time the ost could’ve been at least better
Did you really say "even in MW3"? Vanguard didn't even get the shooting people right.
That jumpscare in Stalingrad was worth a win too
I’ve fired a Spanish Mauser back in my home country as my old uncle was part of the gun club, and let me tell you, that thing was not good to shoot, the sights and because it was a ww1 Mauser, loading took forever, i understood why they decided to add a stock, it’s was probably a more familiar stance for soldiers trench raiding
The comment at 14:50 caught me off guard, I love gaming wins 🤣
This game might've been an embarrassment, but it looks like a masterclass in storytelling now that MWIII's out 😂
The idea vanguard concept was cool such as the dark ops of the German wonder weapons. More historical accuracy though, it needs more development could’ve been interesting.
liked and subbed because of that twd reference at 3:47
Love that they've got Mozzie in this game. Martin is an awesome person and actor and I might play this game simply cause he's in it.
I perfectly understand the hate this game got, but tbh, I did admittedly have a decent amount of fun with it (mainly for the mild nostalgia I have for it since I played it during my first year of Uni, making it a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine even though it was 2 years ago). Campaign was alright, not one of the best though. MP, despite the insanity, I actually found myself enjoying, more than CW's multiplayer. A bit of a guilty pleasure, I'll admit that
Each time he pronounces "Polina" I die a little on the inside 😂
Points for trying though.

I'm just waiting for the notification coming through where you've played through Titanfall 2
Already done! One of my first videos!
You should try persona 3 reload when that comes out in February
I know you only mentioned them once but I do love a good medal of honor campaign
Vanguard is actually one of my favorite CODs, and I'm happy you give it the love it deserves. It's actually got my favorite campaign between it, MW19 and Cold War. I got to talk to the campaign writers a month before the game came out, and it was so cool to hear their love for the characters.
I just wish you'd reconsider doing a video on MWIII at some point as well. I personally love that campaign too, and it's very disheartening to hear that you think of it as mere trash. Yes, I understand executive meddling didn't make it the best, but the writers did the best they could in a shitty situation, which I still enjoyed.
bruh what kind of standards are you gaming on
@@marbl3d45 mate you really expect standards?. in CoD playerbase?. come now its not that deep man. you could just ya know. move on and accept it. its inevitable.
and no. i'm not starting an argument here and now. just saying the obvious
Oldest gun I’ve shot/own is a Winchester 1897 trenchgun made in 1907.
Honestly.
If they marketted Vanguard as an alternate WW2, i think everyone wouldve liked it better. Just making things up and having non-WW2 tech at different points. Heck, i think they shouldve gone all out in the alt-WW2 and have some like mechs or something.
I like this campaign. I have to be honest when I say this, we´ve been in the ww2 setting alot in cod. So going a bit bonkers for once is fine by me. I didnt think Pauline was a big problem (though i havent done research on her irl inspiration). This felt fresh, simmilar to the individual characters in th ww2 game, but more memorable. They can come across as a bit stereotypic, but i would love to play another campaign with this group of people again.
Someone's been watching Zachs Gun Rants
12:48 Wade SHOULD know who Jesse was, he was an American hero.
You should do Remnet from the ashes, then 2.
Can you please do everything great about the portal games!!!!
8:30 lol that's funny sad but funny 😂
I expected this one to be much shorter
My problem with Vanguard wasn't the Campaign it was Zombies
Bro is the definition of optimism
Is that a bad thing?
@@ViperPilot16 nah but he fan find any mid game and convince people it was good. Its impressive
@@ViperPilot16it can be.
As an Ohioan, the homage to Jesse Owens just makes me hope a little harder that I can get this game one day.
Seemed less like an homage and more like tokenism. Especially when you look at a lot of other quotes from that mission such as "I hope there's grits in heaven" . And besides that, any American would know who Jesse Owens is at the time
24:05
"having a quick go on the couch on a Saturday night", if only games these days were put the disc and play, but no, you'd need internet connection to play even the campaign + you gotta go through all the install bullcrap as well. You'd need to prep on friday night to play saturday lol
My opinion on this game’s campaign is summarized as the story is pretty bad but the actual gameplay is fun
The soundtrack. Thats it.
Dude when I first got the game it nearly bricked my ps4 2 times in the same night it was bad
as a new CoD player (first game was WW2 but didnt get to multiplayer until Bo4) I enjoyed this game. never understood the hate... sure the guns took a light year to level, but the gunplay felt amazing and the warzone caldera update was amazing imo
Personally I’m fine with a fictional story about in a historical setting
When you brought up the calm nazi thing, I immediately thought of a nazi far cry villain played by Steven Ogg
Can you do the sniper elite games please
20:21 she's holding a pistol like a rifle
Everything great about cod vanguard
Thanks for watching
Will you make Everything great about The Witcher 3 + DLC's? or Maybe even about all Three games.
Im glad vanguard is fantastic game!
Can we please get a bioshock 2 video ❤❤
Please please please do the bf3 campaign. Would love to see an everything great about the bf3 campaign.
the only bad thing about this is what Activision forced Sledgehammer to do.
(which is pull their energy and resources to help develop Cold War)
edit: Yes, they probably had to use ChatGPT to get some parts in the story done faster
I didnt realize how much better this game looked on pc vs xbox till i saw the xbox version here lol
Please turn on game subtitles
You definitely need to play House of Ashes, and Until Dawn.
Shot a ww2 mp40 definitely cool
The problem with vanguard isnt the historical innacuracy, like you said every cod is like that, the probem with vanguard is that it disrespects historical events and people, turning ww2 into a cutsey litlle adventure that our characters gothrough while making mcu like one liners. Its not respectful to the MILLIONS of soldiers and civilians who were killed, tortured and raped in the most brutal ways imaginable.
20:10 Polina is holding her sidearm like a rifle, looks really janky
See Ivan if you hold pistol like rifle you never miss for fear of shooting fingers.
Ah yes... Polona Petrovya 8:57
Damn.
can you make gamingwins in valiant hearts plsssss
As a military historian I'm fine with historical inaccuracies not when it switche the characters (who are based on real people) roles around and it's disgusting also would you do a gaming wins on ready or not it's a good game difficult but good
Considering Sledgehammer did MWIII(2) so im not sure they will ever be able to make a sequel to one of their games. They wanted to do Advanced Warfare 2 but Infinite Warfare ruined that plan, then they wanted Vanguard 2 but were given the task of making MWII dlc that turned into MWIII. We will see if that changes now that Microsoft is in charge
I dare you to try and do a vid on MW3 (2023).
I would really love to see your take on GTA San Andreas
I mean, after MWIII... This game actually did SOMETHING. Maybe nothing huge, but something. 😊
Yeah, every time the devs try something new it's hated, when they play it safe it's called to safe. You can't win as the devs. Not to say MWIII is good, but come on you got meat on the bone here.
@@ViperPilot16that’s not true though, people praise cold wars campaign, mw2019, etc
@@kx7500Cold War is the most playing it safe risky game you can think of? I'm referring to games like Infinte Warfare.
@@ViperPilot16 yes Cold War is absolutely playing it safe.
@@ViperPilot16 infinite warfare was a bit of an anomaly that was a victim of context more than anything
In the same way great movies aren't safe from CinemaSins, even terrible games aren't safe from the "praise" of GamingWins.
Had to scrape the bottom of the barrel with this one
I am shocked you managed to squeeze it into a 20 minute video I was expecting 4 minutes
Oh god
dawg vanguard?
The problem isn't that they decided to do their own thing the problem is is that they didn't do it good at all
Task force, 141 is Vanguard
The only good thing I can say about Vanguard is that the graphics and level design were great and the russian sniper is the best character. I would say I enjoyed the Multiplayer and Zombies but I didn't. Multiplayer I played a few matches got bored and Zombies was so boring and had no real enjoyment so I just gave up on the game and went back to Cold War.
I was lucky enough to have access to one of the few pre-dealer sample Owens imported into the states as my godfather was a major WWII small arms collector, along with an AuSten. I can honestly say, the Owen is my second favorite WWII subgun I've shot, only behind the M2 Hyde. One thing to note is that Sledgehammer for some reason inverted the sights, as they are offset to the right on the real deal. Also, FWIW, one of my favorite features is that the ejector was actually on the mag itself, something I have only recently seen again on those PMAG 9mm conversion endomags.
im probably the only person in the world at this point who couldn't care less about historical inaccuracy or anything like that. If its fun, i like it

Well this is something I never knew would happen...a positive video towards Vanguard
I just remember playing the beta for Vanguard and having a lot of fun. Me and my friends had a blast but we waited for reviews to come out, and I’m glad we did. Wish the released game was as good as the beta was
Pls do GOW RAGNAROK: VALHALLA
Got to say I didn't hate this game. Was it perfect, no, but it's not the worst either. (I have been saying this since it came out). The one thing I wish they kept the move while mounted from this in MWII, and MWIII.
Also the presentation, geos hard in this game. Also also the music is by far one of the best for CoD games aswell.
"Total wins 117" Don't know if that was an accident or on purpose but that is funny.
15:43: How is it not obviously alt history though? You have pointed out things yourself that make it alt history. Is that phrase a little to far sure, but this isn't Band of Brothers.
I’ve heard so much hate for this game, however this proves a lot of people wrong.
