I always thought this was a respectable COD. It had a good campaign imo and it tried its best. MP was interesting, especially with how many weapons it added. First game I was actually good with a sniper rifle. Lee Enfield and PTRS gang rise up. Zombies was alright in how it tried to go with a more horror aspect and I liked that it tried to go that route
I really prefer these stories over the ones where your a super soldier black ops agent that can turn the tides of a huge war. Just being a soldier that's trying to survive and get home alive is the best, I want a modern one with Korea and Vietnam and maybe Iraq. So much potential.

When it comes to cold conditions, personally I tried to move as much as possible because once you go to sit down you kinda just got numb. And fun fact you can fall as a heat case, too many layers mixed with too much movement will literally cook you from the inside
This game’s graphics was so realistic and still is in my opinion the most true to life graphics in the industry I wonder how’d they manage to make the cutscenes looks so good
As someone who served in the marines, I can honestly sit here and say that yes, during mountain warfare training in the snow, we where itching to find the green barrettes to mock battle with. And during the trident juncture nato op we where waiting on other millitary ingagement just so we could get feeling back in out limbs
I have trained in exercises in -40 c below, which is apparently the same in Fahrenheit. Cold environments are possibly the worst type to be in. You always have to survive the cold, there’s no reprieve. Heat can do that too, but it cools slightly at night. In the winter, nights just get colder. To say it’s demoralizing is an understatement. Keeping in mind I was training with modern 21st century equipment and clothing. I couldn’t imagine how cold men were in WW2 in trenches. I’d march in circles to get my blood pumping, pushing through knee deep snow to make myself warm. Surprisingly effective. A hot meal never tasted so good. I can easily imagine them wishing for a fight just to get warm or just distract them from the cold. Even for a minute.
2nd comment, I didn’t serve in the cold but I did play an outdoor hockey game in the middle of a Michigan winter while it was snowing, you’re the coldest sitting on the bench just waiting, constantly shaking the water bottles so they don’t freeze up, and being thankful when it’s your shift. It’s not serving in an active warzone but it is doing an intense ass workout outside where there are still real dangers from the weather.
Never served in the snow but a few times with my friends we did some recreational stuff in the snow and it was freezing. We always put our hands near where there was a good blast of heat every time we’d shoot
Them showing the death camps at the end actually make a lot of sense since it’s following Daniels story. No one knew about those places until near the end of the war so that shift change makes total sense after them winning a battle then coming across a camp while looking around the area
I’ve done some airsoft LARPing in the snow years ago. When you’re fighting, you will feel the cold, especially when you get snow on your back and it starts to melt. But when the sun goes down and the temperature plummets, it will bite your bones and cut into you in ways you can’t imagine. I remember huddling around an oil drum fire with about 20 other LARPers because we were cold in spite of some of us wearing cold weather gear. Not exactly like serving, but a couple of vets that were with us told us that the feeling was similar.
So, fighting in the cold - ive been in the canadian army for 14 years. I havent fought an actual conflict in cold weather but ive sat in enough entrenchments at -40 that i can share some insight. The biggest issue with warmth through physical activity like fighting or marching with snowshoes is making sure you dont sweat. Its a bit of a juggling act to manage your layers of clothing according to conditions. Once your base layer of clothes gets wet you need to change it or risk hypothermia and becoming a casualty. We have good gear to manage this, like bib overalls that zip all the way down the outside of your legs to open up and allow heat out, but the best way to stay warm in something resembling combat conditions is either in your tent with the coleman stove running or barring that in your sleeping bags at your fighting position. If you have to work on earthworks or something like that you need to work at a slower pace than normal and stay hydrated. If you have any other questions im happy to answer what i can
One thing you could win at 33:50 is the visual metaphor of the wolf. The SS often adorned themselves with wolf imagery and some even named themselves ‘werwolves’. So you failed to save Paul from one wolf, you’re rushing to save your friend from another.
The thing about fighting in cold, as long as you're moving, it's completely fine. The very moment you sit down for an ambush or you hold your positions longer, not only you get real cold, but also that kicks in to make you sleepy.
This game is my favorite of the newer cod games, i grew up playing Big Red One on ps2 and still play it sometimes. This game took me right back to my childhood. And I loved all the wins in the train wreck cutscene.
23:44, currently serving in the northcountry (US), can comfortably say, there have been many occasions when it is painfully cold, I just want to get moving again to feel my toes. the difficult thing to understand is that in the military, you are essentially cold on purpose. You are instructed to wear just enough to keep you from freezing to death. If you wear too much and end up getting sweaty, by the time you settle down, you are having some real problems. It doesn't even need to be THAT cold. we had plenty of rainy cold days that made me want to end it all.
I've been waiting for this video for a long time. Call Of Duty WWII is by far, my favorite Call Of Duty. It wasn't my First Call Of Duty, Call Of Duty 4 was my first. I loved Call Of Duty WWII for what it did and showed, the ending of the game made me cry for God knows how long, that tells the game is special.
This in my opinion was the best CoD game I’ve ever played cuz it was my first. At the time I got it when it came out, I was young and in my childhood days and that’s when I started learning about it w2 and all the famous and important battles and then wanted to know about the none famous and more interesting battles, which is when I started learning more about the tactical aspect, and I mean about all the tanks, aircraft, ships, every weapon and piece of gear used and where it was used in, but when I got and started playing ww2 it took it to the level that I needed to learn about if I wanted to truly know what ww2 was like for every GI, brotherhood, sacrifice, courage, guts/determination and over coming fear in the end of it all, and then everything else that was said in the video as a win helped even more and made it more fun, and because of that, this game will forever have a special place in my heart
21:37 I love how there is RECORDED EVIDENCE that soldiers in WW2 did dive into rooms in CQB scenarios. The general idea being you toss a grenade in, wait for it to bang, then dive in. If the enemy is dead, they’re dead. If they’re alive, the smoke from the grenade is blocking their view and choking them, and you are on the ground below it. It’s actually really smart. But I digress, soldiers did slide and dive in WW2
Dude It's wild that you dropped this video cause I am actually replaying this game right now on Veteran for the first time. My two cents would be that for all its short coming I am enjoying it alot more on Veteran because at least for me it makes it feel more immersive.
My dad's father was 15 when he signed up during World War 2. Everytime I read a book or play a game about it, I feel closer to him in a way if that makes any sense.
Please do the Brothers in Arms series. I don’t know or have heard about a game with that style of gameplay, and also gives you a grittier story. Plus it shows something not often seen in WWII shooters, the Allies losing and retreating.
As much as I disliked COD WW2, I really do like that they added uniforms of smaller, lesser known divisions in multiplayer, like the Navajo Code Talkers.
anytime a game or movie is about the world wars, it makes me feel something deep down. so much respect for all the soldiers who fought and died, they truly were the greatest generation

The campaign for this one literally has giving me PTSD like not real PTSD but I do have flashbacks to how intense my first time storming Normandy was like it was scary. That’s a video game. The writers did an amazing job, depicting the terror of war.
I am always happy to have even poor lip service to real history. If you see it and wonder what it's about, you may be inclined to look into why they acted that way. Could inspire you to look into the real history and then compare for yourself. Those of us that don't like it, don't, due to it being a poor reflection of the history. If you don't know the history though this may inspire you to look into it yourself. Always happy for something to inspire you to look into it. Doesn't mean it worked though.

I want you to let you know, that intro song is known as "A Brotherhood of Heroes" and to me, i think that it perfectly represents how terrifying WWII was and brings honor to the fallen soldiers. Most perfect 2 minutes and 56 seconds ever made. And the zombies, perfect. The campaign nailed the environments of all the famous battles, from D-Day, to the Rhine, absolutely amazing. WW2 is good and its the game that got me into COD in middle school, but i think World at War shows more of the gritty parts of the war than being a playable Band of Brothers game
Can confirm, warfare and being hunted in the snow isn't bad with modern cold-gear, but even with the new stuff one slip in a puddle and your feet are fucked. I'd like to say a bit of anxiety/adrenaline/movement would warm us up a bit, but it never really did. The moment you stood still the chill came back. We were mostly itching for movement because it was something to do aside from sit there and shiver lmao
Ive watched and played a lot of WW2 content over the years. The way I see it, if they made an effort to justice to the stories, people, lives lost and absolute horrors, they get a win in my book. Thinking about the nuances and small details gotten wrong defeats the purpose for me personally. For me, everytime I watch something, or play something to do with WW2, I probably spend just as much time pausing it and looking up stories, videos and seeing if they got it right. It gives me an opportunity to have a moment or thing in wars sparked and the desire to find out the truth about it. Ive learned so much from looking things up to see what actually happened, who these people actually were, learning names and moments along the way. Thats where the value lies for me. These games are the closest well come to actually experiencing WW2. I think they did a damn good job, you can tell they rode the line of "its a game and its meant to be fun" and "we have to do this justice".

26:30 accuracy by volume is a thing my guy. You got it pretty much right.
15:42 Even as a Black Ops III campaign enjoyer, I never realised this mission's finale was just a certified "Boum le train." moment.
Number 1: It's not Vanguard
Never served in the snow but a few times with my friends we did some recreational stuff in the snow and it was freezing. We always put our hands near where there was a good blast of heat every time we’d shoot
Them showing the death camps at the end actually make a lot of sense since it’s following Daniels story. No one knew about those places until near the end of the war so that shift change makes total sense after them winning a battle then coming across a camp while looking around the area
My first introduction into the call of duty series was this game as soon as it came out and I still love it to this day 😂
I’ve done some airsoft LARPing in the snow years ago.
Amazing seeing this video after rewatching band of brothers days ago. Great work.
The thing about fighting in cold, as long as you're moving, it's completely fine. The very moment you sit down for an ambush or you hold your positions longer, not only you get real cold, but also that kicks in to make you sleepy.
Boredom is the true enemy of any soldier… cause the moment you get bored…. Slow reactions get you killed
Bruh your standards are incredibly low
22:18 Perez actually survived that. If you look closely during the campaign he jumps out of the tank.
I'm pretty sure he climbs out on fire, he might have survived but not for long
@@owencolbon2400according to the lore, he was w.I.a (wounded in action)
@@WitcherGerd i actually didn't know that, I liked Perez so good
My dad's father was 15 when he signed up during World War 2. Everytime I read a book or play a game about it, I feel closer to him in a way if that makes any sense.
Video 101 with a game heavily influenced by Band of Brothers. *chef's kiss*
23:49. The exhaust port on the M1A2 Abrams is a $10million Space heater. And it absolutely will Melt your gear.
Another great video
This is my second favourite COD Campaign after MW2 2009, that just can’t be beaten🤝
I was literally Thinking today " I'm wondering if gaming wins will make a cod ww2 video." It was my first cod. Sorry for my English I'm from sweden
Nah man you’re English is impressive for a non-native speaker
@@harrisonchristopher8708 thank you
anytime a game or movie is about the world wars, it makes me feel something deep down.
so much respect for all the soldiers who fought and died, they truly were the greatest generation
Playing this game with headphones at full volume nearly made me as shellshocked as the soldiers but goddamn i'd do it again. Sound dsign is out of this world fr
I serve currently on fort wainwright, the temperatures during winter get down to about -40. Being out in the field during that time sucks big time
The campaign for this one literally has giving me PTSD like not real PTSD but I do have flashbacks to how intense my first time storming Normandy was like it was scary.
23:43 I haven't served in the military, but I can tell you from experience that after shooting guns or an hour, 20 degrees feels a lot more like 60 degrees.
Thanks for touching our hearts with all that you do. You’re a good man.
Man, at this point in time, any game that reinforces the fact that the holocaust happened and that Nazis are bad is A+ in my eyes.
I can't believe that Holocaust deniers actually exist.
I love this campaign my second favorite COD campaign only behind OG MW2! Great video!
A pretty fair campaign but a pretty darned great zombies. Definitely, up there in my opinion. Especially, “The Final Reich”.
*WW2 Best COD since the GOAT BO2* its only COD that you can play all day and have fun a simple straightforward COD & FPS shooter.
*It's literally BO2 but in a WW2 era* the Dev got the balance, counters, movement, speed just right especially after the Overhaul update and it has the 2nd best weapon variety behind BO2.
*The Unsung Hero COD* saved the franchise for me. Been loyal since launch 4 years playing consistently.
No other COD has been good since.
Best Gun:
*The Austen* it's the *WW2 Peackeeper*
*"No Mission too Difficult, No Sacrifice too Great! Welcome to the Bloody 1st"*
30:39 my grandfather flew over Europe, and on his 38th mission in a P-47; he was shot down over Remagen bridge.
i love the use of medpacks rather than regening health naturally, the auto regen is great for multiplayer but in story mode limited ammo and meds is lit, makes certain situations real tense when your low and trying desperately to find supplies while not getting shot
At fort Carson in the winter after a shooting exercise we would use our 240b barrel as a hand warmer out hands 2-3 inches off the barrel hands warm
Easily the best game of 2017 in my opinion. LOVE IT!!
P.S. Waltuh. Put the thermite away waltuh.
To the Fallen
@@jackthorton10 No Mission Too Difficult, No Sacrifice Too Great.
If you want more josh would love to see you do the Callisto protocol he really shined in that game and gave it a damn good go even if the game itself fell a little flat
I still say we need ww2 game from Reich pov, they deserve to point from their point
This game is My Favortie call of duty game of all time and no one can change my mind about it
Same.
@@yandelito7706 and Truth be told this was my very first call of duty game and I refused to play amyother call of duty game other then this masterpiece of a game
Damn why? Not black ops 2? Or ghosts? Why is *THIS* Cod your favorite?
@@seanrigsby4350 well i do play a bit of call of duty warframe but it dosnt have that Spark that this game Has that makes it so good for me
i love this campaign but i hated the turret segment because of the glitch with the iron sights
Love this franchise and your channel🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Please continue uncharted
Also if you want more of josh duhamel, then play the Callisto protocol. He is the main character
In terms of WW2 games, specifically COD games, there is something that I feel is missing these days that was done pretty well with the first COD and some others: Shellshock. In the first game, there’s grenades, artillery, explosions from vehicles, machine guns, and more. And it is all very loud, especially when compared to the later games. You can barely here your platoon and CO.
A GamingWins for Hi-Fi RUSH is why I subscribed and turned on notifications, really hoping he does make one.
Love your videos and love your content
having served in the cold to some extent. I didnt hope for a fight (even though it was only an exercise) biggest issue was to know what was a cold hallucinations and what was not
What if I told you you typing this right now is a cold hallucination?
this is really solid campaign! I love the combo of blockbuster and realism….

PLEASE PLAY NIGHT IN THE WOOOOODS
my grandfather served during the battle of the bulge and ironically shortly after was transferred to the bloody first and he said and i quote "i was so goddanm cold i felt like i was a f***ing ice cube"
Someone edited the Freebird solo over the train wreck cut scene. Made it 10x better in my opinion.
I guess this means we're gonna see an Everything Great About Wanted: Dead video soon
101 videos and still smashing it. Love your break downs on all these games its always the first video im watching in my sub feed. Keep it up king. Cant wait for spiderman 2 vid :)
Really missing the war mode this game had. Tight maps and lanes but still unique. Really wish we got War mode for a modern game
Im a massive gun guy and one of the first things that made me happy in this game was how punchy the M1 garand feel’s compared to some older cods considering 30-06 is a pretty big bullet. The garand was a pea shooter in WAW.
Thank you for all the videos you make. We love you and what you do and write
I really liked the MP for this game. I enjoyed the unlocks and weapon prestige system. The single player was a mixed bag. Some great missions, some stinkers.
13:01 In the words of American Fighter Ace Eddie Rickenbacker "Courage is doing something you're afraid to do, There can be no courage unless you're scared."
Thank you for all the excellent videos, brother. Great to get one before work! Pizza, fam! (It's funny because I'm a Papa John's delivery driver).
I personally love this CoD, the campaign had me and my brother glued to our seats seeing what happens next
Underrated CoD. This, Ghosts, and Cold War were some of my favorites
The saying goes "5 shermans for one cat" meaning that in order to take out a tiger tank youd need 5 shermans or one platoon and the tiger was a very rare beast to find in aestern europe but still was still the most terrifying thing with tracks and a eunning motor for a western tanker
The saying is also wrong, 5 Sherman's fought 1 cat because Sherman's weren't gonna be messing around in numbers fewer than that for no good reason, so when they fought they always had a numbers advantage
@@calebbarnhouse496 true, though "tiger phobia" was incredibly common for tankers aswell casue the thin your most scared is what you're going to keep eyes out for. But thank you for correcting me
"101st" episode about a WW2 game, hmm...
101st Airborne Division.
This is actually one of my favourite COD games. But I feel totally alone in that
