I think most cod games have very good campaign, with the exception of vanguard, but the reason the older ones are excellent is because they were actually really grounded in reality and most important, they had actual passion put in them

It's this game in particular that makes me wonder what people are on about regarding "muh historical accuracy" in games like Vanguard.
I mean, I like accuracy, but I don't demand or expect it unless the game is claiming to be accurate or authentic.
Regardless, this is probably my favourite of the COD series, tied with Black Ops II

Fun fact about Reznov: when you first meet him in WaW, he hands you a sniper and tells you he is too injured to use it. If you look at his hands, you can see that he is missing half his right index finger. This details is consistent throughout the game, and within Black Ops as well. However, once Mason starts hallucinating, Reznov's finger magically reappears.
It was mentioned that you being a special bunch, you were given access to weapons which are not yet developed. So, you get to play with a few prototypes, such as the FAMAS; it was released 10 years after the last mission, and with its noticeable top stock. The prototype you start the last mission with comes without this top stock.
About Shteiner, this is mostly something Americans don't know about the German language: If 's' is in the start of a word, and followed by 'p' or 't', it is pronounced as 'sch'(sh in english). This rule also applies to the base words in compound words. The Russians are saying his name more correctly than the Americans, but German lacks the 'uh' vowel as a whole. To add to this, many people say Einstein with an 's' and not a 'sh'
Another thing about Germany - it is forbidden by law to glorify the holocaust, but also forbidden by law to deny its existence.
To be fair, it is more expected of top-tier rappers to know how to play with their voices, so Ice Cube doing good VA work is to be expected. He was also more famous at the time for his acting career, as not everyone is into gangsta rap. You also forgot to mention Ed Harris being Hudson's VA, but given your age, this is excusable. Not having watched 'The Rock' is not. :D
I also remembered a few secrets in the main menu room:
-You can play a top-down minigame on the PC
-You can access a bunch of files you unlock during the game. One of them mentions sending a young John Price to hunt down Mason.

Okay so im a massive WW2 buff and some of my gripes with Cod stem from this fact. However, the one in front with a gun isnt necessarily the most true story. The Red Army had some incredible means of production and their soldiers were all equip when in battle. However, there were for lack of a better word soldiers in Stalingrad who were not receiving the supply as they were not Red Army and not deemed essential. It was (if my memory serves right from the different recollections) these men who through themselves at the enemy without weapons hoping to scavenge one as time progressed. This is not to discredit the fact that Russians in that war were another breed, but id figure id share this tidbit. PS love the channel!

    • @RaptorJesus
      @RaptorJesus 2 роки тому +34

Partisans. The word you're looking for is "Partisans". However, the idea that the Russians didn't have enough rifles at Stalingrad is entirely a myth. The Mosin Nagant was one of the most-produced rifles in human history. The Soviets had more then enough, so many that they would just leave thousands of them dispersed throughout forests and in caches whenever they could, in order to arm the citizens left behind the front to harass the Germans.

Many people also don't understand that the massive proportion of casualties for the Soviet Union were predominantly civilians. Not Soviet Combatants.
More than half of the 25 Million people killed by the National Socialists were innocent people caught between two iron fisted tyrannical regimes. One that saw them as vermin (NatSocs), and the other that saw them as cannon fodder to slow the enemy down (Soviets). In all reality, the casualties are a tragedy of what happens when Tyrannies collide. Not a proof of "How much the Soviets put into the fight to win,"
To Stalin, Women and Children, and even the elderly, were just as much combatants for the Motherland as a grown man would be carrying a rifle and wearing a uniform. If they could not carry a rifle, they could render medical assistance. If not medical assistance, work in a factory. If not in a factory, they were placed near the front to build fortifications. And if necessary, with the immense influence the Soviet Commissariat had in the early years of the war, be thrown towards the NatSocs to slow down their advance. Leningrad had quite a number of those occur. German soldiers, especially the Panzer elements that arrived on the outskirts of the city, prior to its siege, stated that they had mowed down entire swaths of civilians advancing on their position (in both a position of loathing for the people, and a position of not knowing what might happen once they were a stone's throw and among them).
Essentially, this presumption of the Soviet Union being the "Good Guys" rather than just a mutual ally against a common enemy is incredibly biased and derives itself from typical minimalist research and typical propaganda.
Because these same people will ignore just how EVERYWHERE the United States was. There was only one singular front the US was not at, and that was the Eastern Front. But the US was, quite literally, involved everywhere else. There's few locations where US Armed Forces were not invested in, whether by logistics or even by fighting forces.
So the lie is even grander when coupled with the fact that the US was taking on the two major Axis Powers that were incredibly close to global domination.

Remember it being a big thing that the playable character, Mason, was a speaking character? First time in any COD there was a speaking main character.
If that even makes sense lol

You can also tell Reznov is a phantom because he mysteriously got his missing finger back in the Vietnam missions.

  • @Some_Guy6
    @Some_Guy6 Рік тому +1

No, all the numbers combined it says = Reznov is dead. Or is he? There was never a body. Or something similar. Also when you leave the chair and go to the computer terminal, you find e-mails wich makes you believe Reznov is still alive and changed his name to John Trent.

6:37 That is just untrue. Movies like Enemy at the Gates might make you think that was true, but if that was the case Moscow would have fallen 1941. Every Red Army Soldier was given at least a Mosin and ammo. You can't win a war, not even a Battle, if your troops are serverly underequipped. Seriosly I get every critic of the Soviet and Stalinist System, but there are too many lies about the heroic Soldiers of the Red Army that beat the Nazis. One for example that blocking detachments of the NKVD shot on retreating Soldiers at the battle of Stalingrad. Never happened. It's funny because this Myth often times goes hand in hand with the equipment myth because realisticly, if the Army doesn't have enough ammo why waste it on your own troops. If that were really the case, there would have been mass desertion and revolts in the Army. And up until 1942 the Nazis fielded a bigger Army than the USSR. So if these myths were true than the Red Army wouldn't have been capable of defending Leningrad, Moscow or Stalingrad, let alone trap the 6th Army in the City at the Wolga river. Please don't spill disinformation from Nazi Generals (in those specific cases I believe it was Mannstein who wrote about these conditions when he was commander of NATO forces).

Please don't ignore this comment cause I honestly love your content and I want you to hear me out.
I don't know if you haven't heard this before (you probably have.) But the whole one gun two guys thing is a myth, while lack of supplies was a problem, especially during the first year, the soviets weren't that stupid.
I know I might sound like a know it all or a tankie but I'm just not a fan of misinformation. I don't blame you for this since it's been popularized by enemy at the gates and early cod games. I also have a recommendation, there is a Belarusian film made in 1985 about a young partisan in eastern Europe during WW2 that I highly recommend you check out, just don't eat anything the director likely never even heard of the word censorship.

The idea the Russians didn't have enough guns during WW2 is..uh...kinda made up. Yeah, they lost 20 million people. But the idea they didn't have enough Mosin Nagants is...ludicrous. The Mosin is one-of, maybe even *the,* most widely-produced rifle in human history.

the whole mass charge of unarmed soldiers bit is not really from history, more from movies. the Soviet army wasn't the best equipped of the war at the beginning but they did turn that around pretty well by the mid to late war. the Germans were way worse at the supply thing honestly. also, its a nitpick but 14 million "Russians" the 26 million was for the whole of the Soviet Union and WAAAAY too often people forget the horrors done to the Belarusians and Ukrainians and everyone else. 1 in 4 Belarussians were killed in WW2.

"US history sucks and is more biased than me trying to find wins for Halo 4" is some great writing. US history in grade school and high school sucks. Spend waayyyyy too much time on pre-civil war stuff, and then jump through the last century as fast as possible so that you don't have time to ask questions and you only learn about all the 'great' things the US has done

6:50 That's a myth invented by Enemy at the Gates and shown in CoD 1. Russian weaponry was cheap as fuck to produce. It'd be cheaper to build a house out of Mosin Nagant rifles than actual materials.

The comment on accurate gun sounds is actually incorrect. Not being a douche. But for world at war treyarch went to the range and shot every single gun in the game every way you could shoot it. So by far the most accurate gun sounds in the franchise goes to WaW.

There’s a very subtle, very small detail that I absolutely love that many people seem to just skip. In Operation 40, when you shoot “Castro”, you can aim at his body on the bed and see that the crosshairs are still red, and not white. This signifies that Castro was still alive, and this confirms it at the end of the mission.

What makes the cold war an amazing setting too is just about everyone knows someone who lived in that time period. Just by being a time far enough away it's history but also close enough you know people who lived in that era adds a whole other feeling to the game.

This just goes to show how out of tune Activision is with its community, this shows that the fans would love an ultimate Call of Duty type of game. Honestly, we've recently started playing Call of Duty Mobile and it was fun but also addicting. The fact that it was a Call of Duty with maps and weapons from across all Call of Duty's, I honestly think its the way they should go especially since they're so negligent towards Multiplayer now in favour of Warzone.

It’s so loving that they took the time to suggest that the player would want to break out of his restrains, so they took the time to program that in along with a fun terminal to explore. Brilliant from the very moment you start this game.

The black ops series was always a series I loved (excluding 3 and 4), and I was so happy when I picked up Black Ops: Cold War. That was the first time in a long time I had enjoyed a call of duty game. Though I will say I did enjoy Advanced Warfare, however the first couple of black ops and World at War, were definitely my favourites.
