Today I interviewed perhaps the best raid player in all of Destiny 2 - Saltagreppo. His raid team won 3 world's first raid competitions back to back to back, which had never been done in Destiny history.
We did a deep dive exploring some tips helping players evolve from a noob into a day 1 raid race competitor, how to make friends in destiny, how to find a team to play higher level pve and pvp activities, some secrets behind building a team that can compete in these end game challenges for placements, salt's ideas on how Bungie could evolve Destiny to have more challenge for end game players, and even some thoughts on the fairness of console vs PC and mouse and keyboard versus controller for end game Destiny content.

I'm glad he talks about the controller recoil, it's something that should not exist. I also cannot overstate how many times the goofy aim assist on controller in PVP messes my shot up when it drags my reticle from the enemy I'm sniping to the enemy it thinks I'm sniping. They really messed up, especially from a controller player on PC. It's easier to be more precise on M&K because it relies on less complicated movements neurologically speaking. Controller all revolves around precise fine motor movements which are much harder to coordinate than dividing that among gross motor movements (Shoulder, forearm, wrist).

    • @ssjsongoku29ps4gaming8
      @ssjsongoku29ps4gaming8 Рік тому +1

It's literally counteractive to accessibility and while there shouldn't have been ways to bypass this with input devices on console (just to keep things fair) they should remove it entirely and also get rid of reticle drag. Without drag I think magnetism is fine on controller but with drag, and server latency or P2P latency, it's just too much. But I bet bungie doesn't want M&K people threatening them once they realize with things more equal that controller is just as competitive on pc as they are.

This is absolutely not meant as any kind of knock against Salt. But listening to him "attempt" to "give advice" to others or lets say newer players is 1 of many classic examples that elite players do not always translate over to elite coaches. Just listening to what he says about certain things...he is completely out of touch with what a bad player on a video game LOOKS like. His advice was literally just to get the most meta exotic per class, and just play the game.
Bro...there are ppl on every platform on every game who you could literally pay to play 8 hours a day, that STILL will not just automatically improve. & it's bc at the end of the day, meta strats and meta loadouts at their very core, are JUST tools of the trade. They do not inherently affect the pilots across the board. Like you're not actually engaging with a new player at all and figuring out what their strengths and weaknesses are. You're just giving a blanket state of "use all the best stuff". That's not coaching. Or advice.
Like imagine asking someone how to be rich...and they look you dead in the face n say "don't be broke. Make a lot of money. Save a lot of money". Well NO SHIT sherlock. Oh ok. I never thought of that. Not once. Jesus christ, lol. Honest to god I feel indifferent towards Salt personally. I think he's on the mark with some stuff. But tone deaf with others. But I 1 million percent fully understand why this kid comes across as SO unlikeable to so many ppl, lol.
You can unironically boil all of his takes down to "use the best stuff. Make the game harder". Like he's the most ANTI fun guy you could be WHILE also making being competitive sound like no fun whatsoever. He's the perfect storm for a bad 1st impression.

Here’s the problem. Destiny 2 is not hard… nor complex.
Build crafting is as deep as choose the thing you want to do by reading (in armor charge or subclass)… which sometimes can be do two things at the same time.
Mechanics boil down to doing something to read and/or dunk and stand on a plate of some kind.
Whether it be other things in life or Destiny 2… most things are not as difficult as people build them up to be. Also, at the same time people want the newest hack/“what ever you want to call it” for instant improvement. The truth is it all comes down to practice, watching information and people hate to hear it build cognitive ability and motor skills.
Majority of people don’t have the cognitive ability nor the motor skills to get past casual. Just like the majority of the Earth’s population regulates to the the average and below instead of exceeding at anything because they’re just not capable.
Everyone knows it but people have problem admitting it.

@@mrvono5019 Ok I'll add the context you missed. Telling someone to go make money & save money, without any actual details on HOW to make said money, does absolutely nothing to help someone in need of advice. Just the same as telling someone to go to a gym to bulk up does absolutely nothing to help someone who has no idea how to work out, what their goals are for working out, what body parts to target, WHEN to target them and HOW to target them. All without hurting themselves in the process. Not to mention dieting properly not to erase whatever gains you may or may not be gaining with whatever garbage you might be eating naturally.
Telling a bad gamer to simply keep doing more of what they already doing does not instantly mean they will eventually stop being a bad gamer. It just means they will spend more time doing the exact things that are already making them bad.
It's not my comment that made no sense. You just didn't understand what you were reading. With respect.
If coaching was as simple as telling everyone to just "do the right things. But don't do any wrong things", then everyone in the world would be capable of coaching. Clearly that's not the case tho. Again with respect.

I think a good way to actually increase the difficulty is to allow some harder content to have matchmaking. Things like the legendary difficulty battlegrounds for example. With good enough incentives you could naturally get more players comfortable with harder content. When 80% of the game asks you to just mindlessly shoot it’s not a surprise so many people aren’t comfortable running mechanics in raids. If general content was asking more from players I believe the average player becomes more comfortable running mechanics. That way if Bungie creates a mechanically challenging raid or dungeon there isn’t backlash that it’s “too difficult”.

      @amorfati4927 Рік тому +3

The thing is… there really are no “tips, “secrets” or “hacks.”
You go into the game and read what subclasses do and their fragments/aspects. Same goes with the Armor Charge mods. If you do not feel like doing that (which it’s important to actually know these things if you want to get better), you can watch videos on UA-cam or read articles so that information gathering is done for you. If you don’t even want to do that there are plenty of build videos and articles and many times have DIM links so it auto-equips for you.
Beyond that you just play the game and that is practice for you to get better. Always try to up your difficulty just a little bit instead of always doing the easiest content so you can work your way up.
That applies to everything including mechanics. All mechanics, including raid mechanics are reading something, standing on a plate, dunking something, shooting something and/or using a special item you pick up (relics). Even though they look different at times they are truly all some version of that.

I disagree wirh your arguments about the game. Destiny is far from easy or lacking challenge.
You fail to realize that you are abnormal! The majority of peoole dont have a life to dedicate to playing a game-- and therefore they will never be as good at the game.
Its the same with being a pro-athlete. If you've dedicated yourself to doing something you have better gained the skill to be good at it. That doesn't change the fact that what you are doing isnt easy.
So basically you've spent way too much time playing this game. You are good at it, now you are unhappy and want to ruin the game for people who don't spend all day playing.
If the game required no skill, we'd all be high performing players and thats simply not the case. Sounds like it's just time for you to go and play another game and start from the bottom. You'll never start from the bottom of Destiny 2 again. I think you should make peace with that and learn to be happy about your accomplishment.

Great take on MnK in PvE by Salt! I'm absolutely on the same page.
It becomes especially relevant in this season, so to say in the guardian rank system on rank eleven -> Soloing Spire of the watcher.
IMO the hardest part of this dungeon is shooting of the harpy-boss eyes (second encounter)... at least on a controller.
You have to be very quick, very precise, there is 0 aim assist and the eyes are moving.
If I get off a perfect damage phase, which is killing the eyes with one mag of a trace rifle -> 2 fusion nades(ignition) -> 1 witherhoard -> 10 shots of bait and switch cataclysmic, i hardly get 1/7 of its health off.
If a goblin sneaks through or just spawns after damage started, I need to kill it because I cannot aim at something else as long as it is alive. Or just aim badly and get a 5 sec to none damage window.
I managed to get a solo flawless on GoA, which also took some time, but this boss makes me want to quit the game...

You have things like safety rift and titan barricades (idk about you but I'm almost certain you can head glitch through the taller, non-citan barricades by snipers) which are easily more abusable than an exotic, you have Knockout, melee lunge range boosters (arc Hunter, syntho's, ophidians, probably more titan stuff - one of the arc aspects I believe), Devour. But to me, it doesn't really encourage creative problem solving (by no means am I saying to rock Bombadeer's during a dps phase, I just don't think something like Star Eaters are the be all, end all for Hunters to give an example)... I suppose that starting with the meta and then branching out when they have a bit more experience and familiarity with the game is a valid counter-argument I didn't really think of in the initial comment.

And you know what, in drafting a reply I actually think I agree with what you're getting at. In my opinion, in PVE the difference maker is usually your knowledge of the game and not how well you can execute it. The game meta changes frequently. This is a good thing and keeps the game fresh. For an average player like me, I have to spend most of my time learning what is meta and optimal to keep up with end game content. Which is still challenging for me, which is why I consider the game challenging. But I completely agree, for example when it comes to DPS from my experience the reason my number are lower are not due to a lack of executing the timing/mechanics/gameplay loop etc. It is usually due to not knowing the most optimal pattern to execute them. If I find someone who is willing to teach me their method, I've rarely found methods that I couldn’t execute myself. Would you agree with this? Your interview came off as "the game is easy I don't know why people say it's challenging, just get better" but I think it could be worded better that "executing the strats/mechanics is usually pretty easy as long as you know what that strat is"…. also I do disagree though that the end game content can be labeled as extremely easy, but I won't fight you on that lol

No matter what game you play will sooner or later become easy. Even Dark Souls or Eldenring. That's what happening. You can't get around that.
You learn how the game works and then you can anticipate what's happening.
The spectrum of Destiny players are so incredible wide. This view that it's too easy only comes from the most elit players and to them it probably is. But for the thousands and thousands that does not solo flawless Dungeons or GMs it is still a challenge.
Hearing someone say it's too easy when you're struggling clearing a dungeon is demoralising and it comes out as patronizing.
There is a way for Bungie to create challenges. They can put in more debuffs to players that want it but i guess that would be "the cheesy way"

I am really getting tired of Bungie nerfing so much for whatever the hell reason and it almost looks like they pulled the bait and switch by shifting our ire towards you and I fell for it hook, line and sinker.
For that I do apologize. I am not an easy person to work with, but maybe you can change my mind about you later.

to yall complaining about "#1 pver" because youre comparing saltagreppo and esoterickk, please relax.
the number one reason for "#1" is for a youtube channel (a nice one 🥹) to overly sell that this is a good player. (no shame in that)
but another thing is, they kinda have different focuses, so its not worth bickering like children over.
salt often is more raid focused, eso often more strike focused. they both have expanded into each others focus, but are mostly focused on different content. both are well above capable players and amazing people.
    but if were talking comparisons...
for strikes: solo gm hypernet current was recently achieved by both. salt with a significantly shorter time and not using the fighting lion glitch or the metas eso usually uses. (eso often takes... their time, and uses comfortable loadouts. no shame in that.)
for raids: worlds first three times in a row vrs (correct me if im wrong) one time. which is a difficult comparison since you are debating a whole team, which for worlds first still requires amazing individual performance and its not like salt was carried to worlds first three times in a row. both did amazing.
if were being real, by feats, in game numbers and individual playstyles, salt wins in my perspective.
BUT AGAIN, its a game. theyre both great players and its a fucking youtube title you little bitch (respectfully) just enjoy the video 😆

but again, the point isnt to compare anyone. its just a youtube title.
im sure 1000 more names will be added in time of this video and it will eventually get into more current speedrunners as well.
im excited to see how this conversation evolves or devolves 😅
