Youtube removes dislike button because you're using it wrong

Publicly viewable like/dislike counter is one of UA-cam's most important features
Dislikes are extremely important for educational content and preventing scams. This is the first time an update has actually made me genuinely angry.
The willingness and ability of these companies to bend the truth to fit their narrative is seriously disturbing. Think about it, a year from now, people will look at that YT Rewind video with 3M likes and 19M dislikes and only see 3M likes, and never realize the vast majority of people disliked it. Views and likes can be easily bought with advertising and money. The like/dislike ratio was the one genuine indicator of public reception and they are taking that away.

UA-cam peaked a couple of years ago, this seems like a early indicator for its inevitable downfall.
This is, hands down, the single worst idea UA-cam has ever had. Even worse than that time they forced everyone to sign up for Google Plus.
Most employers don’t care about the mental health of their employees. UA-cam isn’t alone in that.

I've removed Google from my life for the most part, because they use it wrong.
Your ending statement of "I hope you learned something" is exactly what taking away the dislikes is going to destroy. When I go looking for a how-to, informational, or other video where I'm trying to learn something the ratio of likes to dislikes is ESSENTIAL to avoiding clickbait, scam, or otherwise counterproductive videos. This change is going to be a dramatic downgrade to the utility of youtube. Leaving the likes up without context will enable scam videos to look legit too unfortunately.
Nice to see that UA-cam cares more about the number of dislikes on a video than to deal with those crypto scam bots and other scammers...

The funny thing about this is that alleged "downvote mobs" will function just fine despite this change. They will still dislike a video several thousand times regardless of whether or not other people can see it. As long as it gets to the content creator that's pretty much all they care for. Besides when that happens its usually because the content creator made a hot take or did something stupid the average person will dislike. So downvoting was pretty much working as intended.

My biggest concern for removing the dislike button is it was a great way to protect viewers from scam or malicious content.
To be frank, we don't need the Like and Dislike buttons; they truly only promote narcissism.
