You read it right, we now love pav bhaji! This is a recipe shared with one of the chefs in our cafe. We love hearing about the cuisines of the world from people, recipes handed down from family members or just great local food. Pav Bhaji is a wonderful Indian Fast Food consisting of a thick vegetable curry served with a soft bread roll. Its origins are in the state of Maharashtra. It's like an aromatic curry meets a sloppy joe for lack of a better example.

G'Day from Australia.. love doing your recipes.. we need your branded items sold here
Gorgeous recipe! I could almost smell it from here in Canada!
Hi.. I am from Pune (near Mumbai) and living in Europe now.. It's my one of the favourite street food.. You really made it soo Yumm.. wow, I have to prepare Pav bhaji now..😊😋
I am so happy to read your description "we now love pav bhaji", because we love it too. Happy to see an Indian recipe listed here.
Pav Bhaji is LIFE! I love it so much and always ask the vendors to skip adding the butter to make it vegan and free from animal cruelty.
Pav means Bread rolls and Bhaji is basically a semi mashed mix of different vegetables. I loved how you served it with the red onions and lemon because that's how we eat it in India! We just tear the bread with our hands and dip it in the bhaaji bowl to scoop it and go chomp chomp ;p
Perfect meal for a cold winter's day !
This recipe is really tempting. I like it and the way you represent your recipe was fabulous. Video is nice and very easy to understand. Keep going. Special love ♥ from #mauryankitchen team. ♥ INDIA
My favorite street food.. awesome recipe
What a beautiful dish! Your clear and easy to follow directions/presentation made this look so easy to make. I’m definitely going to make this recipe just modified slightly to fit my families dietary needs/restrictions. I think my kids will like it. Thank you for the fantastic idea. I am so happy to learn from other skilled creators like you. I also make UA-cam cooking videos. I hope we can learn from each other as we grow! Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent.
Definitely on the menu this week! What a great recipe. Thanks! 💚
Switch the bell peppers with sugarpea snaps if you, like me, are allergic to bell peppers (I know it's surprisingly common). 🙂
Capsicum are the devil’s sputum to me too😂😂😂
@@bevllewellyn8799 It's not all capsicum for me, fortunately, I'm fine with chilies and jalapenos, for example.
Hey perfectly done and traditionally presented. totally loved it watching you make it. Loads of love from Pavbhaji lover🤗
Brilliant! I miss India and will be making this. Your recipes and always delicious and so easy!
As always, love your vids. So excited about your new cookbook. Hopefully ordering off Amazon still helps you out. 👍
I can not wait to try making this! It looks delicious. Also, as soon as pay day arrives I'll be pre ordering the book. I've bought all the happy pear books. Your books always have great, easy to follow and delicious recipes. When I first went vegan, I found thinking up and cooking meals really difficult. It's thanks to finding the happy pear that I'm still vegan today (4 years). You guys make cooking fun, easy and down right delicious. Thank you so much for the amazing content, it really has changed my life!
Superb cookbook, absolutely love it!
Completely watched & enjoyed 👀
Keep up the great work! 🤩
Enjoy your w’end! 😊
James 👍🏼😜

Next try 'Misal Pav', whenever you can. Another street food which everyone loves here :)
I did try it now. Amazing! For me the best happy pear indian dish recipe i have ever cooked
This dish looks so scrumptious! And colorful too!
Looks absolutely amazing thank you! Definitely trying this tonight. x
This looks surprisingly simple and seems very versatile, I'll definitely be making this - thanks!
it's fabulous...loved it...
love from India
My family is from Mumbai and I’m so impressed with this recipe and presentation. Love your channel!
Omg I can only imagine how amazing that is . Cannot wait to make this.
Just made this tonight. It was so delicious. We loved it. I ended up adding some tamari, I doubled the recipe and sometimes that changes things. Thanks Happy Pear!
Thanks for showing me this increíble technique. Saludos desde Argentina amigooo
Thank you .. Will definitely try this
happy veganuary!
pav bhaji looks amazing.
i can almost smell it from here. 💗💚
Will your new book be available through Amazon USA in future?
Can’t wait to make…TOMORROW!!! Cheers
Just made it. Really easy and delicious 👍
Looks as d sounds amazing. Thank you 👍👍👍👍
Can somebody give The Happy Bear a thousand euro for not using Tamari/soy sauce? lol 😂 thanks for this amazing recipe!
"And the most important ingredient in this vegan butter cream cake, you guessed it, tamari! Just get a little bit of that in there" ~proceeds to dump a quarter of the bottle in~
@@RogueAstro85 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes I’d like to chalenge the whole vegan industry to come up with more recipes that do not use soy or sesame as they are also common allergens. Yes a powerful punch of flavor but there are many other ways which I wish were explored more.
I use tamari all the time:)
@@LG-gw6xw Just leave it out! Personally if I don’t have a true serious allergen that shows up in my blood work then I’m not going to stop enjoying them. P.S. there is a company that makes soy free soy sauce by Halo, they make a veg ‘fish’ sauce too. It’s not that great tasting tbh but it at least it’s something. You can also use salt and mushroom powder and chickpea miso (wo soy). Best
Is the book available anywhere other than Amazon in the US?
Hello from Dubai, thanks guys this was a simple tasty recipe for someone who is a terrible chef like me, easy to make and tastes great !
Just made it for the family lunch - added Kale in the pot and made a quick Yogurt & Cucumber Raita to go with it... family loved it!
Those little heart cups are so cute!
That looks absolutely amazing 💚😋
Will definitely be making this one 😍
Love from India ❤️😍
Hi, guys, a short question... in about a month I will be traveling to Ireland and I'm planning to visit your shop in Greystones... Do you think your book will be available there? I would really like to get it while there...
You NEED to come to India just to have the food!! We have so many vegetarian dishes and you'll literally find change of flavours every 50 km you travel ☺️
this was so delicious we ate it with naan and i’m the happiest little pear
We should make a Happy Pear bingo card: "deglaze", "warm belly hug", "salt helps break down the veg", "podadoes" :D
Love it guys, ❤❤
I’ve had this so many times and it’s soooo tasty 🥰🥰🥰🥰
yummm can't wait to try
Bread is called pav, (it's a Portuguese word "pao"). So if you serve with roti then it would be roti bhaji.
Looks delicious 😋
They serve this in India on mini-hamburger buns, like the size of a slider. I've never made this before, but you have inspired me.
Great recipe, Gents. I guess we’re even… I’ve been to Mumbai on biz many times but never had street food (my local staff told me “never”! to indulge). 😎
I know what I'm making tomorrow, Thanks again ;))
Easons has disappeared in the North!😩but I want that book so bad xox
Golgapa in?
He sounds so surprised that it tastes good 😃❤️
So you boil the veggies and drain? All the nutrients from the veggies are down the drain. Would it not be better to lightly steam them or roast in the oven for more flavour. Or just microwave to retain all the nutrients.
We usually boil the potatoes separately, add into the tomato & masala base and mash all together until combined. We let the flavours amalgamate a little and then add in all your other raw veg and cook it in the potato mixture. Nutrients will be retained this way!! Unfortunately this recipe is a big miss with me and another example of big eastern dishes being completely white-washed. And that's no shade to these gentlemen, I've learnt so much from them and really enjoy their account. But you cannot use garam masala, it's a completely different taste profile! You have to use packeted pav bhaji masala or your own home blend - then every family has different additions on TOP of that. Maybe garam masala, chaat masala, amchur (dried mango powder) etc. Anyway, sorry for the rant lol! Hope my tip a the beginning helps you! :)
It's actually served not with a chapathi, but a Pav just like you did (hence "pav" bhaji)
Really love this one!! All your stuff is good, but this one is a really nice change of pace. Veganism has made me fall quite desperate love with „Indian Food“. (Where I live you can get it „vegetarian „, but not vegan. Nice people make it though 🙏😎🤘)
Heaven xox
Teacher my daughter chency how to make Indian style food OK 👍 👌
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
My only issue with this is it seems super low in protein. Looks nice though
Add some red lentils, serve with brown rice. Problem solved!
@@RogueAstro85 yes, or even chickpeas...
@@RogueAstro85 brown rice for protein? Ehm. No. It is over 70% carbs so adding bit rice doesnt add protein at all. 100 gram rice contains 7 grams of protein and that is huge amount when cooked.
All plant foods have protein.
@@ajvintage9579 yes jut it still dowsnt make them good protein source. Saying rice is good protein source is same as saying beer is good vitamin source.
If one wants to add protein content adding rice makes zero sense.
Yo Dude! Where’s your brother?
If that was street food in North America, how healthy we would be!:)
looks good but pav bhaji can't taste like pav bhaji, without the special "pav bhaji masala". You can easily get it in any Indian store or look up the recipe online. I love pav bhaji!!
I’m not sure about all that chilli powder as mines very strong. 1/4 Tsp is enough to knock your head off. 😂
Are the recipes in the new recipe book all vegan?
I guess so, as they are vegan chefs...
@@-Brige- except one of their first recipe books was vegetarian and not vegan. And plant-based doesn't mean vegan.
Pav Bhaji is originally vegetarian or/and vegan.
Where is your brother?
I feel that so many people who are already well off, publish and promote themselves too much. Like Rich Roll promoting his wife's recipe book. Smaller people with small budgets and more talent are not able to get into markets dominated by those who can get editors and publishers. It's especially annoying, when these people seem unserious, like greeting adults with "yo dudes". I wish there was more equality in the world.
They're not chapatis, chapatis are thin like tortillas.
Ooo
I think you guys are eating beef steaks behind the scenes. , and anyone who studies the science would
Experienced cook you are
G(h)ee adds excitement to any meal ;)
Too bad it comes from the exploitation of animals
@@RogueAstro85 dude, we’re mostly vegans or vegetarian here. But we try not to be the humorless types. Don’t be that guy. Not here. I’m vegan but it’s impossible to live in the world without having had a negative impact on animal welfare. The machine your clothing was made on most probably uses various oils and chemicals directly from animals or has been tested on them. So there’s piss in your snow as well.
@@damien884 Sorry I get tired of people coming by just to say shit like "it'd be better with bacon" and thought you were one of those people. I'm not humorless but I will admit I've become a bit cynical over the past couple years
@@RogueAstro85 I get your feeling of cynicism, however, animal exploitation was the main trust of your retort!? So keeping the apples with apples comparisons, you’re equally culpable unless everything you own, including the home you live in, has been ethically sourced by you. As militant types tend to point out, “ignorance is no excuse!”. I think these two Irish lads do a lot to persuade people to try out plant based alternatives without finger wagging. I don’t care weather someone believes in the ideology I live by, I just want to get some of those asses in plant based seats. A warm wind tends to remove a heavy shirt quicker than a hard breeze
Time to change your chopping board …
Typical Mumbai way of eating...Trust me it is the best way to feed vegetables to your kids. My mother was used to do that twice a week.
Are you single? 😁 🥰 😘
They definitely are not lol
Yes, I am single.
Thanks for asking.
Really irks me how badly researched this is… ghee, chapati???
I was thinking the same thing!! And only garam masala!? I love these guys but this has irked me too! :(
I'm in India Tamil nadu
You're making pav bhaji
Like a salad
And not at correct consistency
Waste channel
Can you cook something for one time in your chanel that not include fucking cans of disgusting tomato and tomato pure? Thank youuuu
Use fresh tomatoes then. You guys don’t know how to replace something or use less of it if you are not too pleased by it 🙄!?Figure it out! You think people follow recipes word for word!? No we change it up to our liking. Recipes just give us ideas ffs! Unless it’s baking, but even so I can make it work by changing some things up sometimes. Vegans are known for changing recipes up though 🤔. 🙃
