I find it’s always a good idea to steam tempeh first even when you plan to sauté it. Cooking it for a couple minutes in a frying pan isn’t enough to take away the butter taste tempeh can have.

Yes, definitely. I've also seen some recipes where you boil it in some broth before cutting it up to help get rid of the bitterness ✌

It might help to cook or steam the tempeh before preparing it in a recipe, that usually helps lessen the bitter flavour. Good luck.

  • @nriccoz

I like the recipe, but how is it 5 minutes, when you add in the rice as already pre-cooked, ready-to-eat ? The rice takes like 15+ minutes depending on which type you choose. Otherwise cool video and the tempeh goes well with the sweet and sour sauce :)

Nice recipe, thanks for that...but the Tamari should be added to the sauce after cooking, because heating up destroys the healthy probiotics in it.

You cooked everything on high so you could make that timer. Cooking shouldn't be rushed, it ends up with half the flavor vs the healthier way; when you let things soften and cook with time. I doubt your onions carmalized in 30 seconds. One chef to another, slow down brother.
