Love it love it love it. Nice collection man :) Propagate as much cacti as humanly possible, they may be one of the most powerful allies we have :) truly neglected and underrated... but that's changing for the better
Herbert Planter i have a large san pedro garden in Christchurch,New Zealand. I started with one pedro in "93" now i have 200. Kept cutting and growing them, san pedro are a power plant, and full of knowledge. Every one should have at least one san pedro, one becomes 200+ eventually
Very nice :) I started with a single trichocereus bridgesii monstrose (among others, but a personal fav...) about 10 years ago and now I have dozens and dozens of plants. Some people say they are slow, but disagree, as far as TBM is concerned, they are prolific!
6:45 My vote is peruvianus x Bridgesii, i have seen a LOT of this cross with a torch like body and bridgesii influenced spines and that deep sky blue... but a few seconds later when you cammed upwards i caught a view of the notching of the aerioles and it made me think a non PC pachanoi x bridgesii
Great collection there! Do you, or can you recommend a site, ever help people determine the ID of a cactus and what its ailment would be? We are renting a place with some awesome cactus around but one in particular - looks like a San Pedro - is drying badly from the tops. Like dead wood dried. Should the dead part get cut off, long enough to cut off dead part and replant remainder? Or what do I do to save this cactus? I have searched internet and when I saw your video, I hope you might help. Thanks!
7 yr old video i know, but still impressive collection. You are about like me, i got alot of cacti, but dont really know all the scientific names. Blue mytrle, san pedro, trichocereus.. thats about as in depth as i get. I like cacti, but dont really care what specific one it is. If its cool looking, then i like it haha
The cacti at 10:00 looks to me like what we call in Australia 'Super Pedro' or 'Super Ped' - it's a very large version of San Pedro so the size matches, the lack of depht in the ridges matches and the main point for me is the way the shades of green colour swirls down the like like when paint is mixed.
How can you tell all that! I have San pedro and sure of that but I just received a cutting that I'm struggling to identify. I think it's either bridgassi or Peruvian torch. .
Nice video you sum up some investigation but yet I didnt find and answer. I have a cactus I suppose it's (Echinopsis pachanoi) or a (peruvianus kk242) because it is realy fat it almost loses the star shape but not on the last 10 cm of the top like the one you showed 9:44 and it have very little and nice separated spines 3 in each spot. The cactus is from mitad del mundo Ecuador here it has been raining like crazy for months so I dont know if that has something to do. PLEASE IF YOU FIND MORE INFO SHARE WITH ME.
Nice collection! Just so you know the pronounciation for Bridgesii is Bridge-eazy-i. double I is common species name for a lot of plants. it's pronounce e-i.
would a cacti like this live thru a Virginia winter? i occasionally see a person's house who has a cacti garden and its seems to live thru the winter...what i see tend to be prickly pear cacti....maybe they can live but some others cant.....
I love your collection. I also wonder if my run of the mill home depot pachanoi isn't actually that. Mine grew extremely fast and got really skinny towards the tops I have two in a shared pot. Anyway the spines seem bigger than they should etc, I've been told not to use only that to identify but dang how do you really know! This has been super helpful.
@@hughgavin5367 seriously!? Good to know in our last house, you're correct it didn't have enough light. Will it fill out eventually if given the correct needs?
@@tristinchristenson6349 I had a macrogonus at one point that sorta fattened up just above the original etiolation, and then began to etiolate again. Hahahha. Some people cut off the etiolated part, and other times it will sort of plump back up.
I would at least give it the opportunity.... if you feel like cutting it then you could do that. I'm by no means an expert, but from some of the cacti forums I've read this is the conclusion I've come to and it seems etiolation is difficult to correct. I wonder if an etiolated tip would make a good tip cutting? Maybe? Sorry I'm not more help, but it just definitely sounded etiolated to me.
@@hughgavin5367 this is great info, I have never had this issue before. I definitely hope it can be corrected, but totally devastating if I have to chop it. Otherwise it healthy as can be and sits in a South facing window. However I live in Southern Wyoming and it can't be outside right now. Good point on it maybe being a decent cutting..... That's still makes me sad. I have two and they are only about 12 inches tall.
Night blooming Cereus Peruvianas need water! They are not like regular cacti. One UA-cam channel took cuttings, hardened them off for 3 days, dipped in hormone then watered every 3 days. These cacti also do better in dabbled shade. They will turn yellow in too much sun same as my tricocereus cacti.
I obtained pachanoii from two completely different sources but both are identical AND I think indistinguishable from your juules giant ...yes including color. But I can't presume they are anything but "PC clone"
Amazing collection. You seem like one to know. I’ve heard it called both ways. Is a bridgesii pronounced like Bridge + sii Like si-dewall Or Bridge + ih + se like se-edling
Brid-jess-e-eye. With ii its always pronounced i like in him then I like the way you say i. Alot of Latin is phonetic. It gets confusing but once you've learned tons of names you start to understand new ones more easily. I work in a nursery so I've got too much bullshit Latin in my head.
I have a question regarding the San Pedro. I found a garden store in SF, 1 block from the ocean. The description says trichocereus crested. I've got one and was 4 left and just came in Friday. worker there said they haven't gotten these ones for a year or so. I can't find this particular one. The crested fans out. This is not that I don't think. Says it's a mutation. Hope you don't mind I need opinion. Going send photo of it..
The color of most fo these cacti is somewhat off...is this due the video settings? or do they really look pale olive green-ish? I guess they get way to much heat and sun. They look like malnourished laboratory animals.
Before I die ima have a garden just like yours! Very Nice!!!

Hi, Would you be willing to send me a few cuttings from your collection? Im in KY.
I can't find a source for peruvian torch cacti anywhere. Would you be willing to help me out?
Great Trichocereus collection you got there.
Loved the video!!! Great tour. You have some good ones going on there.
Nice! I just sent out a big Sacred Succulents order to get my collection started!
beautiful man. nice work.
I am wondering what you are doing for your soil (contents) & if you need to use a cacti fertilizer?
Damned nice collection. Thanks for sharing. Thumbs up and subscribed!
Very nice collection!
do you use a shade cloth
how many hours of sun do they get?
Very accurate identification
What soil should I use? I heard just 3/4 regular potting soil and 1/4 perlite ist that good for San pedros? 🙂
Very nice, I have many of the same plants.
What is a decent price for a four ridged bridgesii? Its a temporary mutation, yes, but what are they worth; as rare as said?

Where did you get these??
what kind of pots are these?
Nice one. How much time have the Cactis you show at 1.27?
Why were all of them terminating at the tips?
hey i need help in identifying my cactus, how can i contact you?
Hello are you willing to sell any of the fatter ones with short spines?
the long spined one I think is a Peruvian Torch they put out a lot at the bottom
Nice collection man
That guy can probably dance better then Michael Jackson.
Nice collection. Hopefully they are still doing well.
I'm sure they are. Once they start growing they can be left alone like in the wild. No need for watering or anything else
