  • Here I take a look at the PC Pachanoi (also called Pachanot). How to identify it, and also is it really a Trichocereus Pachanoi or a different specie.
The 3 photos of the PC Pachanoi used in this video were taken by Forest & Kim Starr from Hawaii's Starr Environmental (www.starrenvironmental.com).
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are interested in buying pure, well identified San Pedro seeds and seedlings, as well as San Pedro relatives, please email me at: sanpedromastery@protonmail.com
If you have a question, I will only reply to questions about cultivation. Please no questions about the psychedelic properties of these cacti.

Its one of the faster growing, drought tolerant, frost tolerance, etc. Trichos. If you want to get into grafting on large stock, these are PERFECT. Esepcialy for mutants and more fragile cacti. Because they are so common, they are very cheap and easy to find!!

To those unfortunate souls that have mistakenly acquired PC, all is not lost. While the PC do in fact contain a significantly alkaloid concentration, they can certainly reach the quality of true pachanois. So it is in your best interest to potentiate. To do this you will need to harvest double the initial amount it would require for a regular session. In my experience, this usually ranges from 2 to 2.5 feet of san pedro. Next comes stressing your cuttings. One can do this by poking the cactus with a sterilized needle (to minimize chance of any foreign debris) and then placing the cuttings in a freezer. Don't overdo this and leave your cacti a ravaged monstrosity. Just do enough to where you simulate a wild san pedro receiving some knicks from critters which would make it ramp up efforts for defense - in this case increasing effects. I would leave it overnight, let thaw (not fully though but just to where it begins to soften up again), and then repeat again the next night. The next step would depend on if you're looking to consume simply by smoothie or by tea (boiling). I have yet to try the tea method but the process of boiling adds another stress effect. I must note that i have had much success with the standard blended method. Oh and like real estate dealers stress - LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. Environmental factors play a key role in determining the final product's alk concentration. Give great care to your plants folks. Godspeed!

    • @originalguckfoogle

How can you stress it if it's dead from being frozen, it doesn't make sense.

    • @Hackified
      @Hackified 4 роки тому +2

Cacti can last a while in the freezer. One night won’t kill it. It merely “shocks” the cactus and it will go into self perseveration mode, sort of like hibernation.

It just doesn't work that way!

Jerry! Love the info you are giving to the public. I've had Trichocereus Pachanoi, (or so i thought) for 45 yrs!!! Now i know it's a dull clone, hybridized or acclimatized, both, and changing it's structures. Many organisms change fast in cultivation when acclimatizing for decades to environments, from foxes to the white agaricus. Having acquired Britton and Rose long ago "the Cactaceae" , i re- read the t. Pachanoi descriptions and one glared out at me. Your other descriptions are there except for the flat side view of ribs edge. Britton- Rose catalog technical description said "Deep horizontal depression above the areole" 😂 Never noticed, and got fooled like most!! However Britton-Rose did not describe the similar, but deeper V on Bridgesii! In a rush those guys...
Trying to look for some true San Pedro in America is tough. Only a few now are offering non PC Pachanoi, and sold out. I think it began with your warning that we have a single boring clone across the land. Current pics from American non PC strains for sale don't show the details of the V indentation above the areole, or flat edge of the ribs, or color. They're playing around. "Unavailable" too, sold "out". Fuzzy pics, no details. Great! They are dancing around not telling it like it is.
Incidentally my old PC shows only very faint V above very few of the newer areoles, and contains the alkaloid, as it has a bitter taste. Like your father, i love growing those indigenous power plants because of their ancient history as sacrament.
My search is still on for the Real Trichocereus Pachanoi. I may try to get them from you as i trust little these locals.😂

@@halozgodz1 On a video about the PC I had to mention the reasons why it is unpopular. I won’t discuss it further, because my area of knowledge is the cultivation of san pedro, not its consumption/ preparation. Also, having a youtube channel, I am in the public eye, and I would not feel comfortable talking about topics that may conflict with local laws where I live. 'PC' clones are awesome plants to grow, they're beautiful, they're awesome rootstocks for grafting, pretty flowers, and are fast growers, I got absolutely nothing against this or any plant at all.
They ARE very popular, not unpopular, and this is not only my own opinion. The fact that they took all over north america (and who knows where else?) is the living proof that they're probably actually the most popular plant of its genus, independent of which species it actually belongs to.
Those rugged plants can take anything from wet rainy climates to very dry or high altitude weather.
Its a great plant for noobs, so its a no brainer, and it should remain an eternal classic on peoples gardens for all these reasons. 🌵

I have a cactus from Cabos San Lucas I cut it off from a wild cactus not in a store. I think it might be it, its spine is long about an inch, a dark grey spine, seven pints on it side, a reddish tip on top of cactus, no v on top, just red color.

I bought my San pedro plants, cuttings and seeds from online plant shops in Germany and Holland. So I should have real San pedros not clones no? I live in Malta and the climate here is cactus heaven. And thanks a million for making a channel dedicated to my favorite cactus and plant.

If it’s from Germany and Holland, it’s extremely unlikely to be PC Pachanoi. However, there’s no guarantee the plants will grow to be san pedro, especially if open pollinated without pollination bag, which is pretty much the norm. Thanks for watching! :)

I have ordered my San pedro from a reliable source and they are on the way. However, I was at the garden section today and picked up what I believe to be san pedro, but it has no name. There's 3 of them about 6 inches high. One has 5 ribs the other two have 6 ribs. The only thing is, it has long thorns and most I have seen do not. Each areola has a flying V shape above it and it has a bluish ting to the stem.

stone man You don’t care about the core of the cactus. The only thing you should be after is the very thin dark green layer just under the waxy outside coating. Maybe only 3 centimeters. 2 feet of San Pedro should only equate to a cereal bowl’s worth of green goop. This blended, and strained, is not too hard to stomach. The taste is the worst part. Which you can bypass by making capsules or even Jell-O shots. Get creative.
