I just met Richard today at Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket and he is such an amazing person. Really passionate about his work and has great stories to tell. He told me about your video and I'm so happy I got to see one of his greenhouses in it. His collection of plants is really impressive! He told me that when he started his business he ordered the cacti seeds from around the world. Obviously there was no internet at that time, he was just corresponding with the sellers by mail. I will definitely stop by again to talk with him and buy him several plants. He needs our support for his business
Note to self 4:30 Summer April- October (as infrequently as once a month (bare minimum (not ideal), as frequently as twice a week (more often for more sun(make sure it dries out first)))) Winter November - March (no water at all) During growing season (summer) fertilize with fish-based fertilizer (if fertilizer is okay for plants I'm gonna eat). 8:55 for more info on plant nutrition.
WOW!! This short video was literally the most helpful cactus video I have ever watched! This was so helpful, and your questions were spot on! Thank you so much!! 💗💗
I personally respect and adore cactus more than any other plant and consider them as a source of inspiration, motivation and positivity just because the way they surive during all odds and makes the surroundings colourful with their beautiful flowers where no one even can think of survival
This guy is delightful! I love his passion for cacti and singing, he has such knowledge! Love this series by the way, I have a lot of the plants you talk about, so the tips are always welcome! Could you please do a video on fruit bearing plants like bananas, figs, berrys, apples, pears, citrus and all the others? Would love to know if you have any fruittrees in you home :). I have a banana plant inside, and apples, pears, berrys, figs, plums and grapes outside. Love Kippetje too :D

I have really enjoyed discovering your videos and have to tell you that Richard is a favorite. He is not just passionate and knowledgeable, but also an excellent communicator and teacher. I could follow him around all day listening to him talk about his plants.
I have cacti that I love and have been so afraid of overwatering. This explanation of watering is the best I have ever heard and makes me feel more confident in caring for and growing cacti.
I think, Richard is one of those among us that have reached happiness without greed without trickery (except making plants bloom out of season, perhaps) and being who he is. A model human.
He has a great voice to listen to and he knows what he is talking about. Cacti are totally governed by light and you have to water in relation to the current weather with one eye on if the following days will also be sunny. Excellent film and you are a great host, thanks!
Love when you make trips to little gems, there the people I want to be friends with. Private collectors are awesome and I love to see the different massive or odd varieties they have!
The way this guy describes watering is spot on ! Mine are outside spring through fall then under lights for winter. Height of summer I water every other day.
