Beautiful pen. Thank you for always presenting a well structured video with clarity and good explanations. It's been a while since you did one with all the steps shown. Perhaps you might consider doing that again for new viewers or maybe refer to some earlier videos where you have done that. Blessings, Glen
Thank you Glen.
There are so many steps that it takes a ton of time to show everything and people are leaving my already shortened videos within the first couple of Minutes. I’m afraid they wouldn’t watch a longer form video.
There are two videos in the description of every video that show the preparation steps. Maybe I can do a live sometime and make a pen from scratch.
Regards,
Bob
Another great looking pen blank keep pulling them out of your hat. Always like seeing what you turn next.
Thank you George.

Hello Bob. Very nice work as usual Always enjoy the tips you provide. The use of CA in various applications is constantly changing. I like how you noted flooding the laser cuts to bond them together. But then, I noticed that the CA did not fully get down where you wanted as you used the skew. So, flooding again and letting it cure naturally compared to utilizing the activator is a good choice. Also gives you pause to sharpen the skew. With that, I noticed you have moved away recently from using sandpaper on your finger/blank to using a drill and a pad. Do you have any reason for that?
Hello Adam,
I sure do. Pure speed of sanding. I can run through 6 grits in less time than I could sand with two using my hand.
I can also shape the blanks and the centrifugal sanding leaves almost no scratches so there’s no sanding with the grain to remove the deep scratches.
This is very aggressive to use a drill with a sanding pad so practice on some scrap wood before trying it on a good blank.
I am really enjoying turning more with reducing the sanding time. Now if I could find a way to reduce the time spent with the micro mesh. 😁
Hi Bob I just purchased this blank and am looking forward to turning it. I have to purchase a new skew and was wondering which one you would recommend and where to buy it. Please advise.
You’re gonna love that blank, it’s awesome once turned.
Here is a link to the skew I use:
¾” Skew - amzn.to/35ozkSV
It’s by Robert Sorby and value priced.
There are many great skews out there, check out Carter and Son for my favorite. I have their 1” but it’s a little to large for pen turning. I’ll eventually buy their 3/4”.
Regards,
Bob
