Pick your winner: 2023 or 2022 Corolla / Corolla Hybrid
As a Canadian, I would have to choose AWD. The extra pep in the step of the 2023s does not hurt either
What's the point of posting these cars, we can't buy them anyway because it will not be available for 2 years
@@saeedamir7250 my job is to review them for you. I don’t control distribution sorry
@@Toyotajeff when do you think it will be available in dealerships?
@@saeedamir7250 in January i think, but don't know which year. Ask St. Claus, or Siri...
Personally, went with the 2022 got so much of a better deal
The 2023 models have so many upgrades that it would be impossible to go with the 2022. Great job Jeff!!
dont watch the european version so, or u wont buy that US 2023 :p . Just the display difference is incredible. Its like that car has 10 year in european standard
Jeff, Everyone wins when they choose a Corolla. 🤩
Winner winner chicken dinner!
@@Toyotajeff It's about time you bought me a chicken dinner.
@@Toyotajeff 💀💀⚰jeff please never do that
Love these comparisons, Jeff!
2023 Corolla is the clear winner here. Not only does it get a more powerful 2 liter base engine, it also gets the upgraded dynamic shift CVT with a physical first gear. That first gear makes it more reliable and gives it better off the line acceleration. Thanks Jeff for another great video!
Great observations!!
@@Toyotajeff lol... the 1.8 litre is still good if one knows what they doing
The K313 CVT in the 14-19 & 20-22 LE is a very reliable unit with people achieving over 200,000 miles while the Direct Shift CVTs long term reliability is still unproven.
I thought it was the instantly available torque from the electric motor that gave better off the line acceleration. It's 50mph upwards where the Toyota CVT traditionally really struggles. I don't know how Nissan and Honda Hybrid transmission systems work, but I found the acceleration in both to be superior to Toyota's. I'm a Toyota Hybrid owner since 2007.
Two things I wish Toyota would fix are: i) more comfy ride (still a little jittery on bumpy city roads) and ii) acceleration - especially at speeds >40mph.
Been having a corolla since 2008. And now i have these 12 generation corollas and theyre better than ever. Not much has changed compared to my 2020 but would be worth the upgrade once the next gen comes out
I thought you were Leonard from the big bang theory at first! Haha thanks for the vid!
great video and a greater personality shout out to you
If I could afford one, I would buy the 2023. Unfortunately, I will have to continue driving my 2012 Corolla LE with 156K miles until the wheels fall off.
I still have a 2006 Corolla CE with 250k miles. You’ll be driving that car of yours for a very long time. Assuming you take care of it.
I have a white 2015 Toyota Corolla LE which I upgraded the head unit to a Pioneer DMH-2660NEX with Apple Car Play and a Rockford Fosgate Subwoofer with a help from a co-worker. The Toyota Corolla is a fun car to drive overall. I would say any Toyota Corolla looks good if you style it right to your liking.
Hey Jeff, when are you going to drive and review the 2023 Prius Hybrid??
anyone notice the leaf moving underneath the white car at the very beginning? haha, looked like a little animal dashing underneath. Great review btw
Are the roof sizes the same? I'm asking because I'm considering getting the Toyota roof rack for the 2022, because they don't have one for the 2023 yet...
Jeff,
Could U make a video comparing all 3 models LE, SE, & XLE. Are they all made in Japan? All of the amenities are found all of it on XLEs? Like wireless, adaptive cruise etc? Pricing? How about Prius - made in Japan too?
thanks,
Jojo Mercado
Hi Jeff! Ive been watching you before I purchased my new corolla. Do you know if the 2023 corolla LE hybrid is equipped with the remote engine start from the keyfob?
Hi there! I’m so sorry but I haven’t tried that one out on the 23 yet. I will if I see one
I still like the front end on the 22 better....
I like the grill on the 22 more. Matches the little fake grill around the T badge more.
This grill is on 23 model in Croatia.
Can you do the hatchback next?
Hey Toyota... why don't you put a tachometer in your other hybrids? I luv the tach in this Corolla Hybrid. I would much rather have that than the energy meter thing that they put in the other hybrids.
What's the waiting time order?
I am HOPING they make a XLE awd. Hybrid or not I don’t care. I have a ‘21 LE, but I really love the XLE and I am planning on getting one next year but I would love an awd.
I am getting 2023 but not the Hybrid one.
Waited for the 2023 and picked one up last week. So far, I like it a lot. Wireless AirPlay is awesome. So is the 2.0 engine on the LE. Thanks for pointing out the differences between the speedo and the interior light.
Hey Toyota Jeff can 2023 Corolla hybrid se seat covers fit in a normal 2023 Corolla SE ?
I thought thr accent led lights weren’t a thing on the regular LE trim 20-22?
I like the tire on both but wish it came with better rims. I like at least 55% tire
Does the 23’ corollas come with a spare on either hybrid, non-hybrid, and/or hatchback models?
I know the LE does. I don’t own a hybrid so not sure on that
hybrid does not get a spare from what I've heard just a repair kit
@@HOASHTHEGHOST that’s unfortunate. I’ll take spare over fix a flat kit any day. I know the non-hybrid comes with temporary spare. Thank you for the info.
I have a 2023 AWD Hybrid on order. Expecting delivery mid Jan.
When did you order yours? I ordered 2 2023 corolla hybrid awd LE on Oct 4 2022 and was told theres a 1 yr wait time.
@@philtag6000 About a week and a half ago dealer told me he had two scheduled to reach the showroom in mid January. I put a down payment on LE AWD then as both cars were not sold. Only difference between them was color (silver or light metalic blue). One year wait time? Go to another dealer!
@@KennethScharf Kenneth how are you enjoying your 23 AWD LE, I just test drove a '21 Corolla Hybrid, I guess the old engine got better gas mileage on the highway, what are you seeing on the AWD. The 21 was certified with 70K on it, was very clean and drove like new, but still the best they could do was 21,600 plus taxes title, etc. 23,900 out the door. and I just don't think it was a deal to gain a few extra mpg on highway cycles. I am coming from a AWD Subaru and sometimes hit ponding of water and I hope the AWD in Toyota is fairly quick to feel more compliant in those situation, the Subaru system handles it well. Just itching for better gas mileage.
2023 corolla is better I lime the gauges in it more the 2022 gauges look old and outdated and I like the 2023 day time running light and turn signal also could u compare a tundra sr5 to a tundra limited cause my dad wants to get a tundra and we can't choose
No XSE Hybrid? I saw in other channel
A better comparison would be 2022 LE vs 2023 LE with no hybrid and no AWD.
I want those 23 headlights on my 21 daily corolla
I don't understand how the U.S version differs so much from the Japanese version which is what we basically get in Australia about 12 months later.
Jeff,
I just purchased a 2023 Corolla LE with production date of 10/22 from Japan . it strangely has the headlights from the 2022 model. but it IS a 2023 .. What happened?
I have the same thing! Just got my le trim non hybrid 2023 this weekend and I noticed that too, I was expecting that led strip j style just like from the Toyota main website. But it wasn't. 🤔
I'm going to contact my dealer about it, did you?
@Marky Marc I'm in contact with Toyota about this issue. I've checked a few more 2023 LEs and they all seem to be using the 2022 headlights. Maybe it's just the LE non Hybrids? 🤔
if you look at the 2022s GAS vs HYBRID they have different headlights
@@jinli6382 I found out its only the 2023 Gas powered LE model that retains the 2022 headlights . ALL other models get the bird of prey type . Reviewers simply did not point this out.
Can you do the 2023 prius, please?
Yes for sure. Give me a week :)
I don’t like horizontal slabs I like concave honeycomb grill lol . Is that a hybrid because of the blue logo on Toyota ?
@@Toyotajeff Thanks!
@@g.m3399 The horizontal grill looks much more premium and they are using it on the redesigned Toyotas as well. Highlander SE as well. The honeycomb grill looks cheap on the Corolla.
@@charlesjackson1700 The honeycomb must be a hassle to keep clean.
Prices?
Does the LE have blind spot monitoring?
I think that's se and up
That new hybrid graphic is hideous! Not a fan of the new infotainment graphics. Looks like 2005 photoshop. And no home screen? And hopefully there is a dark mode, or it's going on carplay and never coming off. The rest of it looks great.
If only they weren't coming out with that stupid multimedia screen infotainment system i would pick the 23 one like tomorrow morning. Not all of us care about all that crap apple play whatever wireless this and that, some of us just want and need a nice stereo nice cold ac period, Unfortunately all manufacturers are building all their cars the same i guess i better start planning on getting one now before they all get designed like the Teslas which have this big ass computer screen that controls everything on the car
LE '23 wins. But when it comes to SE editions, I much prefer '22.
2023 all the way!
23 Corolla SE all day!
the new grill is hideous compared to the older one
jeff there is a problem with the rav4 liftgate hinges cracking and toyota is not owning up to it. Thought you should know. I will never buy another toyota.
5:08 why is the touchscreen giving me the finger?
2023! 👍
Waiting for my '06 corolla w/ 150K miles to die before I buy another one!
ME GUSTABA MAS 2020 A 2022 CREO QUE TOYOTA LA REGO CON EL INTERIOR DEL 2023 LE QUITO LOS BOTONCITOS QUE TENIA Y QUE ALLA MOVIDO EL CLUSTER DIGITAL AL MEDIO AL LADO DERECHO SE MIRABA MAS ATRACTIVO Y LLAMATIVO CONTRA LA COMPETENCIA OPINION MIA
23 LE grille is ugly... worth the money to get the 23 SE for the better looks and wheels
I didn’t like it at first but it did start to grow on me. I still do prefer the 2022 le grill though.
2023 underground ❤
❤’2023
Nice!
Compare apples to apples please - compare 2022 LE gas vs 2023 LE gas
Well how neat.
None the European version break wins
Since Toyota discontinued, the 1.8 engine in the Corolla and the 5.7 in the tundra, I am done with Toyota goodbye longevity.
Lol... the 2.0 litre in toyota still really good.. its non turbo. I have the 1.8 litre with my 2020 corolla LE
Honda Civic wins
Ugly 2022 corolla unchanged..same ugly shape design in and out for 2023....engine is still underpowered compared to 2017 onwards civic which has 158 bhp since many years now....Toyota must get an award for ugly looking cars that will suit an old man
The 2023 Corolla has 169 HP standard.
@@MattCC16Gaming which the civic has 158 bhp since many years already....corolla was stuck with underpowered 132 bhp....and now its 169 bhp standard on 2023...not a big deal....ugliest corolla design in and out....even 30 yrs old honda civic had better looks
