We have owned Toyotas since 1972 (Toyota Land Cruiser). Now my family still owns Toyota. I own a Toyota rav4 2014. I have 49,000 miles and still have 80% of original brakes. No regrets for all of us owning Toyotas. Next car will be a Toyota 4Runner. Remember EV cars have a low resale value. Actually I will never buy a used EV. We all agree Toyotas are just reliable. Now, Subaru has come along way and they are really good cars.

I’d consider a suitable Honda, Subaru, Toyota, or a Mazda, particularly if they are made in Japan. I wouldn't choose any vehicle with a CVT though. An E-CVT found in the hybrids are great though.

What good is about brake pad that last but the car wont stop. Toyota rav4 has worst stopping power compare to any European SUV. Toyota is a joke. It is a bare bone car. Offcourse it wont break down if there is nothing there to break down.

My daughter had a VW Tiguan....at 95,000 KM...not miles, it started misfiring and going into LIMP mode ( 30 KM ) top speed to get you home or to a mechanic. She had it back to the VW dealer in Fredericton SEVERAL times. Every time she went back they charged her 160.00 plus to scan it OVER and OVER for the same problem they knew was happening. They changed sensor after sensor THEN decided to CLEAN the intake valves due to the DIRECT INJECTION nightmare. I think that was 1200.00. It worked the very same. They NEVER found the problem....NO fuckin idea what was wrong with their own cars. A couple of months later the ENTIRE INFO system, including the radio quit. They wanted 3200.00 to fix that. It slid off the road in a freezing rain storm and was wrote off... and she thanks God every day for that blessing. You are warned.

@@saberamuna104 I bought my Telluride brand new in January 2023, and haven’t had any issues whatsoever, not even this “parking brake” recall that came in the mail today. I keep cars for a long time, as long as they don’t become headaches. My 2008 5.7L V8 Tundra was purchased brand new in September 2008 with just 33 miles on the odometer. It’s got 133,941 today. Best most trouble free truck I’ve ever had. I have a 2003 Miata too (British Green with Tan leather interior) that’s only got 63.000 miles. For a “weekend fun car” like my Tundra, it’s been bulletproof. We shall see how the Telluride holds up. If it starts giving me headaches, I’ll sell it, but so far, I love it. Went to nissan dealer recently, the quashkia 1.5 hybrid model in mid range with a glass roof pack was 36 k British pounds plus . Due to a tweaked model arriving in a month or two, which will probably be only a front grill, light and bumper and a remodeled back light , bumper tweak and maybe a slight improvement on interior the price now for outgoing model has been slashed by over 20% . So those on the fence since 2022 due to previous price who like the current shape/model can now get a much better deal on the dealers current holding stock .

My 1994 Pajero puts your AWD to shame. Mine, you do not have to turn off the traction control to go forward in snow. My Pajero has locking hubs so it get s good milage when in 2WD. It has 2WD, AWD, 4WD hi, and 4WD low. Yours has only AWD and you have to use special driving tactics in snow and on ice just to get traction applied to the tires. I have had to tow several (not just AWD VW's) from unplowed parking lots because the traction control malfunctions and will not disengage, causing no power to be delivered to ANY wheel.
Something someone should consider when buying a new AWD vehicle. The question of 'Ca the traction control by easily disengaged when driving on snow and ice?". And you had better know how to do that, or you are not going anywhere....

Change oil regularly per maintenance schedule. But CX-5 is smaller, doesn't look as nice as CX-50, has a shorter ground clearance, doesn't ride as well as CX-50 due to smaller wheelbase, it is still a tough choice because CX-5 is cheaper and made in japan, if that matters more to you then go for it.

We’ve owned a turbo Kona for 6 years with ZERO issues. On the other hand, over the years, both our Subaru’s had engine failures because the passenger side firewall cylinder is not adequately cooled. Common-ask around. Also, Subaru is years behind on technology advances. For example, they still haven’t adopted a key fob. Poor performing CVT transmissions and under powered engines are the norm. Exhaust pipes run next to CV joints so rubber cover dries out and cracks forcing replacement. Heat shields are so thin they fall off with minimal effort from driving on snowy roads, etc. Toyota offers so much more.

I've had it for 2 years now, 1.4 TSI petrol - no leakage, no trans issues, nothing. Golf MK7. I went to the store to update the car - most brands don't even have 80% of the features that a 10YO car has. I've tested it again similar year A-class and BMW 1-er. It trumps BOTH of them in terms of value for money. I have test driven the New Tucson (it's great but a bit big for my needs), the CX30 (nice, but not practical), CX5 (great balance, but old infotainment), and the Tiguan. I have had 3 Ford Explorers 2011, 2017, 2025. I have loved all 3! All of the interiors looked as new as when I bought them when I traded them in. I got great trade in value compared to others in its category. Mechanical aspects have never had any issues even the 2011 which was a dramatic change for the model and could have had a lot of “bugs” but didn’t. The 2025 Explorer platinum is exquisite. Luxury inside and out. Tech is outstanding. The leather seats are beautiful. I have owned imports BMW. It was my favorite car I have ever owned BUT, when I needed an SUV the BMW SUVs are very disappointing. BTW Edmonds has great things to say about Explorer especially the 2025. I could afford a more expensive SUV but I think my Explorer stands up to any of them.
