Thanks Bill! Watched this video a few times and was inspired... so I went and bought a used Tripple Delay. Gonna try these settings, also going to try and copy Andy Timmons delay sound with it. Thanks again for your great sounds!
Oh Man!!!! Bill, I greatly appreciate your videos and the creativity that you share with us........ and I just went ahead and ordered the Triple Delay. I had a couple of delay/echo units... and I will probably keep my EHX Grand Canyon... but I'll be selling my Dan Echo (which I've enjoyed since it came out....long ago!) and my Ibanez DL10 (which I've never "Loved", but used...) and I'm really looking forward to diving into the Triple Delay magic. I do hope that it isn't completely discontinued .... maybe "improved", but I'm sure I will be quite happy with this "Old School" version. Thanks for all you do! (I think..... LOL!)
Hopefully, there'll be a new version coming out as the Flashback Triple Delay is unique. I agree with your comment about buying gear Bill - I went to buy an Alter Ego and found it had been discontinued. Second-hand prices are silly.
Luckily I found a second-hand unit for €150 a couple of months ago. My only complaint is the miniature size of the switches. I use them a lot, so sturdier ones would have been welcome. Next up is a Ditto x4 before it is discontinued. I want a Crave sequencer or Moog Big Brother as well, but I guess they're going to be around for a while yet.
The switches on TC pedals are the same junk plunger switches that, believe it or not, are still used in Line 6's DL-4. They're not difficult to replace if you're comfortable with a soldering iron; plenty of DIY's available
My completely uninformed speculation is that there's a Triple Delay II in the pipeline with MASH switches and other tweaks, but TC don't want to announce it until there aren't so many of the present version sitting in the retail channel.
I have one on order but here's the crazy part I have owned two and traded them in twice to up my delay game... Timeline, H9, Volante, el Cap. I figured I really liked the sound and the functions and simplicity of the unit and the multiple delays so here we go again but this time I am done with complicated effects and going back to basics. Bend over dial in play.
thanks 2 ur advice n vids ,im the proud owner of this fantastic bit of kit ,thanks, sad 2 see it go[i also love me canyon too]thanks 4 the heads up,n great vids/info
I have a Triple Delay but I dont use it that much, because that pedal has one big issue, that makes it nearly unusable in my eyes. If you dial in one delay you have to switch over to dial in the next one. But if you dont write down the settings of delay 1 you have no idea after you set up delay 2 waht the settings of delay 1 were, because you cant see them any more. Same with delay two after you switch to set up delay three. So even if it is a really nice tool for studio work I think its usability for live is somehow very limited, especially if you want to change the settings of one of the delays just a tiny bit on the fly.
Do you actually make changes while playing live? Not that no one does, but it's not common at all. Typically in a set you know what you are going to play and what sounds you want, so there's no need to adjust. I don't own a TC delay, yet, but can you not see the settings in the TonePrint editor? If so, write it down and have a cheat sheet of the presets. Clearly not an ideal solution, but not an unreasonable workaround either
I see what you mean. It takes a lot of experimentation to come up with a truly magnificent bit, but the exact same settings (in conjunction with other gear) are difficult to copy once they're deleted. That's why I plan to experiment with a sequencer.
Same here, sometimes I need two types of delays in one song and it doesn’t have a global tap tempo to set both delays at the same time when you switch one algo another thing that I dont like is that when you turn off the pedal also the effect gets mute at the same time and it sounds horrible a dry stop .
I really wish TC Electronic would reissue the Triple Delay with a Display like the Nova Delay has. I own the TC Electronic Nova delay and the Transitio. Delay pedals. I have 2 boards. I use 2 delays for each board. I like to combine the Tape delay (Transition) and long stereo delays in my Eventide Pitch Factor. I am intrigued by the TC Electronic Triple delay ability to use parallel or series. I have used a Boss SE-50 unit that has 5 parallel delays. I have a couple songs where I use that on. I think the TC Electronic Triple delay would be interesting addition to either of my pedal boards. I just prefer displays. My other board uses the Boss MS-3 switcher that integrates stereo fx built in. I use a long tape delay with the TC Electronic Nova delays. I like what you do with that Triple delay pedal.
Hi Bill, first of all thanks for the great videos. I need advice. I have a Flashback2, I'm happy with the sound. I'm thinking about Tripple delay or Flashback2 X4. I'm more interested in Triple delay for layering delays. I'm wondering which one is more practical in terms of preparing multiple songs for live use when playing with a group? Or use Triple delay and keep FB2 as well? How many sounds can you prepare in advance so that you only use your foot to play and you don't need to bend down to the pedal and use your hand? Thank you!
You mentioned your regrets about the Fender baritone disappearance. You can get a baritone conversion neck from Warmoth. It fits a Fender neck socket and you can choose the wood and the fret type.
I kinda had a feeling this was gonna happen a year ago, when they came out with the Hall of Fame X4, and then the Plethora X5. Luckily I picked one up used prior to the release of the HoF X4. Here's hoping TC releases an X2 version of the Triple Delay with the MASH switches or something.
I went from the Strymon timeline, to the Flashback Triple delay , now I have the Boss DD 200. It's faster to use and half the space on the board. I have plenty of pitch and shimmers already. the Boss DD 200 sounds great between the Mobius and the Big Sky.
I always wanted this pedal, but the lack of global tap and reading about TC's switches wearing out always kept me from getting it. Hopefully they release a Triple Delay 2!
