Just bought this the other day and have been mucking around trying to figure out how to make these ambient tones. This video has really helped and I like how TC goes to the effort to actually show settings and explain it, rather than just give preview videos of tone.
+maccatheguitarist thanks, man. Really happy the video helped you to find some of the sounds you were looking for :)
All the best
Stefan
I hear ya. I've had mine since early summer and still .. each one of these vids shows me something new or a new angle on something I already knew. it does more than we'll probably ever know. ha!
@@tcelectronic Hi!!! Great pedal !! Are you on the verge of releasing the new triple delay with more slots to save patches? I have seen a downfall on Thomann price for this pedal. ANy time soon?
Thanks
YES! More people need to show the actual settings and not Just the tone. People need a place to start sometimes. Thanks!
I bought this triple delay along with a dittox2 after my DD20 took a dive.
I didn't realize how different and how much more there is to this thing than some early reviews that had some crit - not all bad crit, just observational crit like wishing for more storage of custom settings on the pedal, etc.
This thing is a monster in a pretty blue box. and with the dittox2, I'm looping backwards, only to playback forward and throwing soundbytes thru my pickups (tone print gave me the idea) into the long ambient loops from my iPhone via Animoog, modular, saved voicemails, anything from audioshare, ... and even .... UA-cam vids 😜
+ryanbsloan transcendentalaccidentalism awesome! :)
Oh yes. Triple delay and Ditto X2 and it's all you need for ambient tones.
Thanks. I'd tried some ambient type things (2290 into a long reverse into a tape echo, with various settings on time, mix, repeats, etc.), but this shows me I have a lot more to explore. I really love this pedal, on guitar or with keyboards (works fantastic with organ or string sounds). My favorite effects pedal so far. TC rocks!
+David Snyder thanks! So happy you found the video inspiring :)
This really sold me. Bought one just now.
Clearly, the possibilities are endless with this pedal :)
:) probabilities are a better focus for creative problem solving, the idea of endless possibilities is looking into a sky full of stars, you can get overwhelmed by idea of space. Limitations are better for problem solving, I always strip things down to basics to see what they do, and then think how they can be incorporated, and I always recommend have a notebook for your multi delay effects, or multi effects, or at least a smartphone notebook.
"you just made music" haahaha made my day
The Triple Delay is just awesome, I just got mine yesterday.
Really happy you like it, man :)
I'm so happy Tc is gonna send me the Triple Delay for free tomorrow ... you know I'm Chuck Norris so ...
My address : 911 ChuckNorris Street
CHUCKNORRISTOWN TX
That tape delay on this thing is just great.
Everything is great on this pedal, the presets sound so warm ,clean and organic.
I have a Triple delay, and I wasn't aware that it could do all that as well - overdrive you say?! I'll try that out tonight! Thanks for the tips.
Excellent demo, good job!
Fantastic video and great pedal. It will always be on my board! I love how responsive TC electronic pedals are.
+Nick Mendez - Thanks, man! So happy to hear you enjoyed the video and that you like the Triple Delay. It's my favorite delay pedal as well :) - All the best - Stefan
That was so awesome. I just ordered one 2 days ago and eagerly awaiting it. Pretty cool hack via toneprint. Also saw another tonehack vid...seems you like the greatest band in the world...Rush! Thanks for the inspiration.
He quoted Andy Othling and I know that because I watch too much of this stuff. Cool vid!
+Mike Downey not a one to one quote. Andy uses the word deteriorate ;) but yes, I'm a massive fan of Andy's, and I watch his stuff too much as well :D Really happy you liked the vid.
All the best
Stefan
Super helpful I would luv one of these pedals
Thanks for the info, great stuff,
'disintegrate with me' LMAO
Sounds great, thanks. Now where's my coffee?
Hope you'll have sthg to teach us with the trinity reverb pedal, some nice hacking!!
GREAT!!! But can you save the three presets in a single toneprint and recall them at once in a live situation? And if so, how do you do it? A tutorial with step by step instruction would be great.
I love your Ambient set but I need to use it live, without having to tweak with knobs and buttons and risk of screwing something up on the stage... :-)
LOVE this pedal but after spending sacred time to tweak and contour there should be banks to store patches...Dontcha think?
Well you have three slots to store your patches, on board and 4 Toneprint slots.
Very cool! One of these days, would someone plug into that Selmer head on the shelf,I would love to hear it!
+NoyzyBoyZ3 thanks. We'll look into hooking that amp up soon :)
+TC Electronic Thanks folks, that would be very cool!
Awesome demo! Thank you!
Glad you like it, mate :)
i'm amaze the way he plays that volume knob.. coold vid!! i have the X4, i think i'd sell it and buy this one..
First time anybody praised me for my volume knob skills :D Thanks, man! You're gonna love the Triple Delay. It's an ambient dream machine, plus so much more
- All the best - Stefan
+TC Electronic you rock guys! especially you Stefan!
Sounds glorious! Wow.
+Eric Mohring thanks, man :)
+TC Electronic can the G major 2 do a modulated 2290 delay? I know it can't do what's shown in the video but love the modulated delay sounds the triple and the flashback can get and want to know if the GM2 can do it.
Eric Mohring yes you can. You simply have to set your presets up for serial 2 routing. You can read more about it on page 26 in the manual :) cdn-downloads.tcelectronic.com/media/216788/tc_electronic_g-major_2_manual_english.pdf
Thanks, that's awesome!
Loving this particular demo, thank you. GAS-ing hard for a Triple Delay. Does anyone know if there's an auto-swell type of tone print available at TC? Thanks again for the Tone Hack.
Bump.
No auto swell available so far
I like this series
That really is bloody marvellous!! Are there any hacks for the X4?
+David Hunter you can do the stereo hack on the X4 :)
You can do pretty much all that's here, I have my 3 presets to 1 a studdering glitchy delay that starts when I stop playing (bonkers), second is a reverse delay with no dry mix, only reverse delay, and the 3rd set to a crazy vibrato type thing. You can do some crazy stuff with both
Do new firmware for this delay and toneprints whith octaver like the flashback 2
Well, u have made an ambient loop kinda. But what if I wanna solo over it??? All my soloing will be made into same looping mess?? I don’t get it.. thnx❤
Stefan is the best
Incredible. I wonder why anyone has an X4 instead? This seems like it can do it all, except for the actual looper, but that's what a ditto X4 is for, right?
I think I'll trade my Boss DD500 in for one of these...
I have the ditto x2 and the triple delay, well opportunities are almost endless
except no MIDI sync for you ;)
I never use midi,so I'm fine with that
I love this dude! Slapback humour!
I would definitely buying this pedal if I could afford it!!!
Why you put stero outputs on your pedals since your demos are mono?
The distortion seems a bit far-fetched, but man this pedal is awesome!
+Mannes Happy you liked the video :)
Absolutely beautiful sounds. I feel thoroughly convinced to purchase this now. :)
Also what guitar are you using? It's so good looking/sounding.
Really happy you liked the tones, man. Means a lot :) The guitar I used is a Hansen S-Tone. All the best - Stefan
It would be helpful for viewers to know how to set each delay channel. Thanks
Awesome and thanks for sharing. Are you using Series or Parallel?
Happy you liked it :) I'm using Parallel in the ambient looper hack and series in the multi-fx hack.
hey i got my flasback tripple delay about 6 weeks ago, and for me it's just awesome!!! but somehow this tonehack don't work really good ad my geare.... cann you tell me your settings on the eq of the amp please??? maybe thats the problem with my gear... thanks so much again for such a good delay!!! have a great day. :-)
+MrFENDERGIBSONFREAK - Just make sure that your amp is set up as clean as possible. If your amp breaks up and distorts easily, then it can give you a muddy result.
+TC Electronic okay. thank you very much!! greetings from hamburg, germany. and sorry for my bad english :-)
Great tutorial. Picked up one of these a few weeks ago and loving it.
Around the 4' mark, you cut one of the delays and subsequently bring it back. What's the internal bypass switch setting to pull this off? Or is that ireelevant here?
Look in the manual for buffered bypass. You need to change a dip switch inside the device. You’ll need something that can remove torx screws.
This is information (buffered bypass) that really should have been in the video or at least in the description.
Hi, I have mine triple since yesterday!!! Please what toneprint did you download in order to make distortion?
great vid! Would you know whether the toneprints are interchangeable between pedals? For instance, can I load a HOF toneprint into a Triple delay. Also, if you have more than one TC toneprint pedal in your chain, does beaming a toneprint in go to only the pedal that its supposed to, or will it affect the other TP enabled pedals as well. I'm guessing here, that each pedal would have its own unique ID so that this confusion won't happen?
Hi Kim. You can't send a reverb TonePrint to a Delay pedal, no. You can have several TonePrint in your signal chain, and the TonePrints will be sent only to the correct pedal. However, we recommend to turn off other pedals, just to be on the safe side. 🙂
thanks for getting back to me. Also, the default settings on Toneprint enabled pedals can't be changed is that correct, only the allotted TP slot? @@tcelectronic
The Reverse delay subdivision combination doesn't exist on this pedal... Might be a quarter note + dotted eight?
i really like this pedal and im about to buy but i want to know how well this works with keyboards and synths. ? are some functions lost from the pedal if i use it with a keyboard ? Thanks you guys are awesome
It works just as well on keys as it does on guitar :) The only thing you can't do is beam TonePrints to it, since that requires a magnetic pickup. But you can always use the laptop editor with a USB cable to transfer TonePrints.
It works great on synths heres a track i made with the triple delay soundcloud.com/savanaviolenta/dreamer
this is how it sounds on guitar and this is how it sounds with a synth soundcloud.com/savanaviolenta/spacious
great video but a noticed a mistake on Reverse it should be indicated as patch number 3 and there is no Subdivision setting like that on my pedal a eighth note + a dotted eighth note... its a dotted eighth note + eighth note. Cheers
+Dan Jack-son - yeah, we're aware. But the video had already gained a lot of traction after we noticed the mistake, so we didn't want to take it down to change it :)
+TC Electronic I totally understand :-) The settings are very good and useful... keep up the good work!
Does the stereo hack help out with the ambient stuff? As in not doing a complete looper but just really sick ambient things?
oww and +TC Electronic , is there a place where I can find some ideas where you have some settings you can just dial in, instead of the toneprint app? like a pdf with some cool settings as you are doing in the video showing "1: Tape, Time 12, Rep 1, Mix 8, Sub 1/4"?
+Daan Benting - sure, the stereo hack works wonders on the Triple Delay :) And no, we don't have PDFs with setting suggestions. But maybe we should make some :)
Daan
Is it safe to assume that this would also work with the Flashback x4 ?
I believe the x4 is more of a looper based system where as the triple delay is literally 3 delays that you can layer like he’s doing in this vid. I suppose you could get a similar effect if you loop three different tracks on the x4 but you’d have to be pretty crafty to pull off the timing
Are you running into the delay last?
I have this pedal and love it 😍 but can anyone help me solve the live problem of no global tap tempo? Has anyone solved it? Has anyone purchased the midi tap tempo? If yes then which one? Disaster Area SMARTclock or Molten Voltage TEMPODE? or ???
joelg125 I don't think TC Electronic cares about this issue. This pedal is useless live.
Get a Disaster Area Time Clock. It will control the tempo on all 3 whether they are engaged or not!
Time clock by disaster area and add a midi cable. such a game changer.
is there a tone print for beaming ?
That that was Pewdiepie for a second.
Hello, I would like to know if the Flashback X4 or the Alter Ego X4 has the function of one delay feed the other in chain, just like the Triple Delay
Arnóbio Antonio da Silva Junior no.
can i use any tone prints to this pedal like tremolo and everything?
Nick Stefanoglou no.
hi...
can you told me the setting of this 3 delay ?
currently i just use space delay only for creating an ambient tone
thanks
sandy
+magz media - The settings are shown in the video :)
Very cool! I have a flashback X4 and a Strymon BigSky reverb. Is there any reason that one should be in front of the other from a technical standpoint, or any other reason? Thank you in advance for any response you may provide!
+harlon57 you usually run your reverb after your delay, since this gives you the most pristine result. But nothing's carved in stone. So set them where your ears like 'em best :)
Thanks for the response, greatly appreciated! There are probably quite a few of us who get weird (not the cool weird) sounds from our pedals and have no idea why.
A video explaining the typical pedal chain and why it is typical, would be cool. You have enough pedals to do it, and the expertise. So come on, give it up! Ha ha.
I have flashback triple delay, alter ego x4,Strymon DIg ,El Capistan,BlueSky ,BigSky and the Imerse and when I stack them man do I get otherworldly super lush multidimensional sounds. Its just FANTASTIC I can play with these pedals for days and immerse with the ambience they give me.
My only complaint about this video series is that I am not in it. That is not a real complaint, however, as I have yet to afford any TC pedals (instead, I am days away from prototyping my invention).
Question, can you add any tone print to the triple or just the ones made for the triple?
Any of our delay TonePrints, Ja'Maul. :-)
Are there any flanger TonePrints you can beam to the Triple Delay?
Ryan Lauderdale no.
Hey im pretty new to refining tone.. with this pedal, is a reverb even necessary? thanks!
No, you're right, it's entirely superfluous 😉
If these were made in China, I'd buy one now
What kind of guitar is this??
This new delay pedal makes Swells correct?
+Mario Rosales - no, it doesn't have a "swell delay". The volume swells you're hearing is something I'm making via the guitars volume knob :)
Is this going to work well for bass?
+Teamsleeping - yes :) All of our pedals work equally well on guitar and bass.
Sweet
This should be possible with my Alter Ego X4 as well right?
Unfortunately not, Jazyues.
Yeah figured that out on my own eventually. Oh well, I also like that one preset will turn another off on that, but thought it'd be cool as a possibility. Was considering the flashback, both are great pedals I just like the warmth and depth of the vintage sounds personally. Trade offs to everything I suppose.
can this be achieved on the tc flashback x4 ?
Can you make the same sound effects using the plethora X5?
can you do this on the x4 ? :O!
Felipe Andrés Machuca no.
Please tell what what does the Signal Chain consist of?
+Dzimka Bujiashvili Hansen S-Tone into a Flashback Triple Delay into a Suhr Badger 18. That's it! :)
+TC Electronic Thank you ! I might have to look into those. I really like the tone.
Dzimka Bujiashvili happy to hear you like the tone :)
Can this also be done with my Flashback 4?
Well, no, not really. But in the X4 you have a real looper, so you can easily make something similar. Here's a quick rundown of the differences between the two: support.tcelectronic.com/entries/93411707-Flashback-X4-Triple-Delay-What-are-the-differences
Thank you.
There's a mistake in the comparison between X4 and Triple delay. You say that X4 has Ping Pong delay and the Trip,e Doesent, where it has Ping Pong it's the last 12th preset,Doesent make sense in the statement.
Bring us this pedal with loads of delay time (1min or so) rather than 7sec and it would be the ambient players dream forever.
7 seconds are quite enough I think ,I never use the maximum delay time cause after seven seconds I already forgot what note I played but IMO it's more than enough.
T.I.N Mateus not if you are really into ambient music i'm afraid. Do you know a guy called Robert Fripp?? Cheers
Hi,yes i know this name i think he cooperated with Brian Eno if i can remember.
Brian Eno.. another big name for ambient and looping.. Now, have you ever heard some of their ambient music? not based on stupid 7 sec loops! Check out this: FRIPPERTRONICS. It's a shame TC is not helping on this. Just for you to know, Fripp was using mainly TC 2990's for his looping rig back in the day...
pepeflores2003 ua-cam.com/video/Ibxz5WVZoNw/v-deo.html
What amp is he using here? Must know!
a Suhr Badger 18 :)
Woah it's the dude from Facebook lol
+Chromaesthesia ;)
+TC Electronic I know that coffee was A stout you don't need to pretend haha
+TC Electronic also great video
+Chromaesthesia hahaha. Even though I really like beer, it doesn't sit with me very well in the morning, so this time it actually was coffee. But maybe we should do some late night tone hacks with delicious craft beer involved :)
That would be rad.
Does anybody know what kind of guitar that is?
Hey Sam. It's a Hansen S-Style: hansen-guitars.com/instruments :-)
@TC Electronic thank you so much. These are beautiful guitars
They are! And they play like a dream :-)
I must know, are you finnish?
+balamq100 - No, Danish. We're located in Aarhus, Denmark :)
Sweet but couldn't I just run through 3 delays ?
You c=wold need a midi clock for all of them. If you have 3 digital delays with midi capability, you can recreate this pedal. But it is better to have on just one pedal. I this one and is the best delay ever. My favorite by far. there is nothing this can't do
6:28 funny eyes !!!
4:57 ha ha ha.
He seems a little nervous about his playing.
You can tell this guy doesn't care for delay. Way to highlight his arrogance. And his balding comb over!
Huh?
